EEDAR: Wii to outsell Xbox/PS3 this holiday

EEDAR have sent out a PR email stating their opinion on the Wii price cut.
Details include a 40% increase prediction on Wii hardware after the price cut, and how Wii price cut is a pre-emptive strike towards pricecuts of Xbox and PS3.

40% increase seems like a bit high imo. I think it will be close this holiday season, but Wii will most likely win.

Yeah, wii will most likely win. Though i wouldn't under estimate the ps3. Alot of people have been waiting for the price to drop. One thing i know for sure, in worldwide sales 360 will be dead last. Just watch

Well i was only talking about home consoles when i said dead last, but handhelds always sell more anyway so yeah. I guess it'll come behind ds and psp aswell. I say 360 will come dead last for the following reasons:

-ps3 is now at an affordable price range

-people have been waiting a long time for ps3's price to drop, not 360's

- ps3 outsold 360 in 2007 at a much higher price point and with the release of halo 3. So odst isn't going to do much. Especially since most people interested in halo already own a 360

-ps3 has had alot of good exclusives release this year

-the ps3 slim release will garner alot of interest

-Gran Turismo 5 is right round the corner and that game interests millions and millions of people

The Wii may win but I think it will be very close. As the economy recovers people are more likely to purchase high end entertainment like HDTVs and Bluray is more attractive.

I am curious. I think that price cut will have no (or just a minor) impact. The Wii didn't sell because of its price, and I doubt it will start doing that now. Who actually waited for a Wii price cut ? The $199 has impulse buy potential, but those numbers cannot be in the millions, IMO. We'll figure out, come January.

but from what I know is that the market is over-saturated with Wii right now. Anybody who wants to buy a Wii already bought one a long time ago. I myself already got one a long time ago, but I won't be buying a second one. I haven't used it for a long time, even my son don't want to play with it anymore. As for the PS3, I won't mind buying a second one, because my son always wanted to use it for playing LBP. With Eyepet coming out soon, I'm afraid I won't be able to play more mature games on the PS3.

I think the Wii's best days are behind it. This price cut will help keep sales at this level or slightly higher but whose left to buy these systems? I think the non-gamers are gone. The fad chasers are gone. The only people buying the systems now seem to be young children (Nintendo will always win in this area) and women using it as a interactive fitness tape. I think most gamers left long ago. I haven't used my Wii in about 6 months. But it really will be interesting to see the impact of the price cut.

When I genuinely don't care for it. I just entered to throw a jab at the fanboys that do care about the game because that's how this site runs. If I watch any Forza 3 video or whatever it's just to nitpick it and find arguments to argue, not because I care for the game... But I do care for the competition between Forza 3 and GT and what people say about them because it is kinda fun. But even if I had an X360 I wouldn't buy Forza 3. Why? Because I don't care.

If this site were less fanboy oriented I wouldn't even mention the name Forza 3 ever!

i doubt the wii will be the winner this holiday. the price drop wont change anything because if you think about it 250 is still cheaper than the ps3 and 360 and the ps3 has been outselling it since the price drop a 200 price tag will just last a few weeks but i think ps3 has 09 under wraps

the MW2 bundle will sell more than the ps3 slim...now i know MW2 is popular...and i know it comes with an extra controller and a 250gb harddrive...but i really dont think it will OUTSELL the ps3 slim, but thats just me..slim did 1 million in 3 weeks...what was the sales like when the 360 got a price cut last year or whenever?

Almost three years on the market without a price cut of any kind is about as much as you can expect for a home console. The writing was on the wall for this long ago.

Anywho...the fanboyism on here is toxic. I don't understand the outright hate for Wii (and I say this while considering buying a PS3 this holiday). I guess being on top does this, as the PS2 got lots of hate last gen.

Don't like Wii? Don't buy it.
Don't like casual games? Don't buy them, stick with Zelda, Metroid, NMH, MadWorld, HotD, TW10, Pro Evo, World of Goo, Brawl, Battalion Wars, Muramasa, Fire Emblem, etc. It's not like Wii is hurting for good games (and 2010 is stacked).

I myself have both Wii and PS3, and was thinking of getting X0 as well. Haven't yet, though, since it's hard to juggle free time with PS3, Wii and PC. I have to sleep sometimes too. Also, being a student who works part time isn't helping at all.

But the hate. Cannot, and will not, understand it. There is no real basis for it.

This affects me in no way. I have a PS3 and a Wii and probably getting an Elite soon. I haven't touched my Wii this year, at all. There are no games coming out on the Wii that have my attention. Uncharted 2, MW2, L4D2 and Borderlands will keep me company.
