DJ Star Review - AllAboutTheGames

AATG writes:

"DJs eh? Once upon a time they were either incredibly uncool and middle aged, and when you saw them on Top of the Pops you'd remember why they initially chose a career on radio. Either that or they were the exceptionally talentless individuals who ran a mobile disco out of the back of an old British Gas Austin Marina van, and came along to your sister's wedding to play "Una Paloma Blanco" and swig all the free bar.

Now though, even the really ugly ones are sex gods and goddesses of legendary repute. Spending winters in the Caribbean mixing their multi-platinum selling albums, then spending all summer bedding women called Stacey or Janine in the Balearics. No that's not a euphemism, it's a real place but don't ever drink the water or swim in the sea there, trust me."

Games2C: DJ Star Review

Games2C:

"A better idea – but let down by poor execution is the music creation feature which basically allows you to string a load of pre–set samples together in different musical genres. The feature is a bit over simplified to be of any real use – but mildly more entertaining than the Career mode.

And that just about sums up this disappointing DJ title. Murder on the dancefloor? Not quite – but certainly no club banger and definitely not troubling the charts anytime soon."

GameOn: DJ Star (DS) Review

GameOn writes: "DJ Star, a game in which you 'become' the DJ is taking a rather large leap, feet first into a world of clubs, pubs and parties in a game for the Nintendo DS that is tryingly aimed at more than just those who want to become DJs.

Little Worlds Studio have created a unique little game, in which you have to peddle your way to the titular spot of 'DJ Star' with help from your implied manager who also seems to be the doorman of the club your trying to get into at the start of the story. That's right, I said story. This is a game, about mixing music for varying amounts of club goers trying to give them a good time... and there's a story."
