Can ODST keep the Halo franchise alive?

I don't care what the PS3 fanboys say; I can't wait! I don't have any of Halo 3's map packs, so to me it's actually a good value since I'll be getting $28 worth of DLC. $30 expansion and firefight + $28 DLC = $58 so maybe I'm paying $2 extra but whatever. It's NOT a value for all of my friends who already bought $30 worth of Halo 3 DLC.

BTW the reason I listed the DLC as $28 is because the Heroic map pack is now free, and the Legendary map pack is now only $8 instead of $10.

Just to clarify: I am a NEUTRAL fan and I don't prefer either console to the other, but the PS3 are getting a little out of control about ODST, that's why I mentioned them. Since I praised ODST in the comment, I'm sure I'll go down 1 or 2 bubbles...

i am in the same boat.. I didn't pay for any of the extra maps since the halo 3 launched. I think we have been in this gen long enough to see the patern these games take with their dlc.

I knew at somepoint there would be a package with all the content on disk.. it's really just a question of how long and if you still have the interest to play it when they realse everything.

It still does not change the fact that for people who bought all the maps for points are getting shafted. I still think they should have sold a second package for cheaper without the maps.

Still, one thing i have heard often is that's the price for being an early adaptor of the content. after i heard that a few times trust me i learn't my lesson. no more buying extra maps and crap of market place.

What I'm getting from all this is that anyone still planning to buy the original Halo 3 should just rent that (for the single player story) and buy this instead. If you have Halo3 you might as well sell it when you buy this game unless you like to replay the story mode.

It sounds like a great deal if you never owned Halo 3 or didn't buy any/most map packs but for the rest you should make up for the $60 price tag buy selling the Halo 3 as you won't need it anymore with the 2nd disc included in ODST.

8.9 seems like the perfect score IMO. Its not quite 9 status, isnt really pushing boundaries or is doing something really well or new, but still seems like a really fun halo game.

I think I will rent it first beat the campaign and if I like firefight mode enough I will probably buy it...

The maps are perfect for me because I traded in halo 3 a long time ago, so thats a bonus for me.

Wow, the opening part of ODST is almost exactly like Crysis. Just swap pods for parachutes.

1. Your character is asleep, and awoken by another squadmate.

2. You leave whatever craft you're in and descend to the ground

3. Stuff happens on your way down

5. Your squad is separated and you're forced to regroup.

I love how in the presentation section of the review they only talk about the sound and different art style compared to Halo 3, but there is no mention of the graphics at all. 9.1 for presentation... give me a break. Any other game would of gotten SLAMMED for these outdated graphics except for MW:2 of course.

You can watch the latest episode of Invisible Walls on GT where they talk to the guy who reviewed ODST, and he totally doesn't sound bias towards the game at all.(sarcasm)

Shouldn't get over an 8 because it is an expansion, unoriginal, and designed from the same mediocre engine. just because the title says HALO doesn't mean it has to a 9 or above.

Amazing how kz2 was nitpicked 4 everything but its ok if halo odst has a 6 hour campaign, no new game engine, same old mplayer maps and realy nothing new added to the fps genre. F@cking brilliant because its guess who halo name.

I really wanted this game to do well but it looks like ass and not up to my fps standards. Sorry odst your nothing more than rehashed halo 3 bargain bin investment. My money is going to a real story telling state the art game called uncharted 2.

Gametrailers giving odst a 8.9 after their video review is all mass marketing nothing more. The game is clearly a 7 but I guess since it's gametrailers featured game on spike they have to kiss the developers ass for interviews and future inside news.
