Kingdom Hearts gets Co-Op play on PSP

The latest V-Jump magazine over in Japan has revealed that Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is to have an all new co-operative, multiplayer game mode playable by fans via the PSP multiplayer connection.

Up to 3 players will be able to link their PSPs together and battle in a special world known as the 'Mirage Arena.' The arena features computer terminals that will then allow players to select special co-op levels or replay bosses with more than one player.

Co-Op alters the gameplay somewhat, too - there'll be unique commands for players to use in the Mirage Arena, including the ability to cast positive spells on your friends to help cure them and so on. Players won't look identical as each player will be wearing different colored armor.

What about on the Zune does it ha...

Ahh, there is no Kingdom Hearts on the Zune.

It is pretty cool. Seems to be taking this cue from the DS one, which had a big multi focus. Shame it's just one special world though and not the whole game.

Jikla5351d ago

Sweet. I wonder how the Co-op will be in this game. Maybe an expanded story arc?

Well that nice. I may actually pick up this copy of Kingdom Hearts. DS version is a rent.

Maybe if the Zune could sell 56 Million like Sony did with the PSP, maybe then it could get a major game or two.

White-Sharingan5351d ago

since when did MS say the Zune would be a gaming device? Unlike apple that calls the "iTouch" a gaming device, and a sh!tty one at that.

With all this great news (Yakuza 3 incoming, SO4), Vesparia is the only thing left for me too want.

Xemnas5351d ago

Yeah i Hope Kingdom Hearts 3 is at TGS or something.

Nice. SE produced some really good games on the PSP. No doubt about that.

Was Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep a Masterpiece or an Exercise in Tedium?

Overall, Birth By Sleep is an important slice of the Kingdom Hearts series, and shouldn’t be missed out on if you’re looking to get into the series. Granted, some of the features and moment-to-moment gameplay is lost when it transitioned from the PSP to modern consoles. But nonetheless, one can’t deny its overall importance to the story and the impact of its mechanics and systems to the series overall.

i like it, but its just too much "friendships are the key to our power" bs.
don't get me started on them minigames lol

i think the game had tremendous potential for essential online gaming and other things. but they didnt do a whole lot with it in the remaster.

i would, however, consider it to be one of the harder games in the series, which is good
