Sony's Motion Control Opens Door for WII to PS3 Ports

Jun Takeuchi, "Speaking to other developers in Japan, I've heard a few of them say they were delighted by the Sony motion controller because they can just port over their Wii titles to the PS3."

Kill Crow5350d ago

dual wield ice-cream dildo controller is nothing more than a glammed up Wii controller ...

well done sony, bringing Mediocrity into the next Gen ....

After next weeks Tokyo Game Show, I do not expect to see a single RRODling on this website.

Which is fantastic news because to be honest their smell is so bad, very very bad.

Blaze9295350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

Lol dunno, is that supposed to be a good thing? Anyway, yeah I'm sure everyone figured this out when they announced the controller.

ProA0075350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

mean I can get Cooking Mama on my PS3 too!? OH BOY!

Wouldnt mind Red Steel though to be serious.

Cwalat5350d ago

@blaze

Couldn't agree more, this is not a good thing. I'd rather see new IP's then the jokes that got released on Wii.

Lair, remade from scratch with integrated motion controll. Now that would be awesome, to fly your dragon and wipping it for speed and such.

cmrbe5350d ago

PS3, It only does everything. Including wii games and soon all x360 exclusives lol!.

Arnon5350d ago

Please god NO!

The reason I play my PS3 is for it's exclusives and not this TERRIBLE shovelware. I cant believe you would even want the majority of Wii games on the PS3. Good lord.

cmrbe5350d ago

If they make it to the PS3 they will not jump all over you and forced themselves on you lol!.

Game13a13y5350d ago

i haven't been turning on my Wii for like almost a year, if they can transport Wii games to the PS3, its bye bye time for my Wii.

Sigh5350d ago

if it's the good wii titles. I have a wii but havn't paid attention to most of the games, but I'm guessing the good ones on there would be nice for PS3 motion. Just the only thing that makes me cringe about it is if it's possible that the shovelware titles, the sucky ones, come over also...

But then again it'd be nice for Sony to stay original, like they've always been and not rely too much on past wii titles.

gambare5350d ago

Muramasa demon's blade PS3 exclusive port? yes please.

Dir_en_grey5350d ago

There are tons of arcade games in Japan that uses motion sensing controllers, mostly by Konami. It'd be great if they could port those over. I played Action Deka at the arcade and that was the most fun:

PS3 Sports Resort? Sony Smash Bros? The Legend of Zelda:Twilight PS3? PS3 Fit? Nahhh!

But Seriously... I think more people would enjoy having ps3 games on thier wii's. Not the other way around.

The only good games that could go on ps3 would mostly consist of 1st party nintendo titles, like mario, metroid, or zelda games. But Nintendo would never allow Sony to have those.

gambare5350d ago

"The only good games that could go on ps3 would mostly consist of 1st party nintendo titles, like mario, metroid, or zelda games. But Nintendo would never allow Sony to have those."

What about No more heroes, red steel, muramasa demons blade, the conduit and all those titles that would look awesome with a graphical upgrade and better online?

thesummerofgeorge5350d ago

I hope Sony does the right thing and focuses on integrating it as an optional feature in real next gen games, in innovative ways (not that the wii doesn't have anything to offer). It can either be an exciting new tool for gamers, or a fvckin baby rattle.

evrfighter5350d ago

If this is true...

EL OH Effing EL

Playstation Fit anyone?

Best Game EvARRRR!!!!11!!1

MEsoJD5350d ago

Games if true. It deserves better

Putting Wii games on ps3 would be like

A rich guy buying a cheap prostitute

oppose to a High Quality One

Sarcasm5350d ago

Maybe High Voltage can make a "Conduit 2" for the PS3 and actually sell some copies

Narutone665350d ago

will do a Monster Hunter 3 in HD, why not?

NateNater5350d ago

Yea those are good games too. But what are the chances of any of those actually coming to ps3?

ChickeyCantor5350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

"The reason I play my PS3 is for it's exclusive and not this TERRIBLE shovelware"

...then play the exclusive and don't play the terrible shovelware?
...Don't tell me this was to much for you to comprehend?

"A rich guy buying a cheap prostitute
oppose to a High Quality One"

A whore is a whore...lol.

FamilyGuy5350d ago

That's all that matters here and we just got one step closer. The devs claimed they didn't want to change the vision of this game and the controls were a big part of that. Shovelware be damned, this is still great news.

Syronicus5350d ago

It would benefit from both the casual desire for waggle and the hardcore desire for adult, mature games. It sounds like a win, win situation to me. Glad Sony went with the better motion control scheme than some controller-less Natal-like method.

blind-reaper5350d ago

@1.2

what about RE: Chronicles, Mad World, No More Heroes in HD, there are some really good game on Wii.

ABizzel15350d ago

Boom score for me. I was the one saying Wii games should be ported to PSN and XBL and now look. Now they can add new stuff to the game and upgrade the graphics, physics, and gameplay mechanic and charge use $40 (since it was a Wii game they better not charge $60 for it) or they can stick on PSN or repackage it how it is and sell it for $20. If this happens there no need for me to get a Wii again until it hits $99 (and that's solely for exclusives).

Now if they do that, then this will really help sell SOny's motion controller and PS Eye giving it a HUGE library from launch. There are probably 500 Wii games if not more, and although about 90% are garbage the other 10% can come over and get the PS3 up with some great stuff that people who don't want a Wii can also enjoy.

Wii games made into HD remakes

Resident Evil 4 HD remake (like God of War, maybe co-op)
Okami HD remake
Zack and Wiki
Little King's Story
Boom Blox
No More Heroes (1 & 2)
MadWorld
The Conduit
Red Steel (1 & 2 with blood)
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Klonoa

Wow that's it. All the great 3rd part Wii games. If it does happen then these will be some very nice launch title to go with the PS3 motion controllers. I thought there were a lot more. Well it's still enough to make a good library if you include the unannounced games Sony have in line for their motion controls.

I wonder if Natal can be used to play these games as well, and will developers port the games over to Natal once it launches. Again this would help them out a lot as well.

Microsoft Xbox 3605350d ago (Edited 5350d ago )

I will not accept Wii ports without a graphic upgrade. Boosting the resolution to HD doesn't cut it. I want post processing effects and higher res textures.

Mahr5350d ago

I'm curious. All you people saying "They should do this to games X, Y, and Z", does it occur to you that a large portion of the games being mentioned here either don't use motion controls, have motion controls only optionally, or have motion controls that could be easily handled by the six-axis? In regards to those games, what exactly is the Sony Motion controller going change about the equation?

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga20h ago(Edited 20h ago)

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow1d 14h ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo18219h ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie9h ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

RNTody21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno21h ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno19h ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

4h ago
fsfsxii5h ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno4h ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
