PlayTM: Gran Turismo Review

All the reviews say the same thing though, if you ignore the scores. No one is saying anything different.

GTmobil is a disappointment for anyone thinking it was going to be GT4 on a psp with buying/upgrades/career mode. But a simple search into gtpsp would have listed that prior to reviews.

I'm checking it out myself. I kinda expected mixed reviews either way because it's a on-the-go game.

I don't know about that. If you worked for 4 or 5 years on a game and put in hundreds of cars and pushed the hardware to its limits, only to get an 80 out of 100? And remember that Polyphony Digital are perfectionists. 80 out of 100 is a slap in the face for people like them.

Since they didn't spend 4-5 years to max out the psp with a game that they said wouldn't have:

1. A career mode.

at the start.

And getting called

So a PSP game, looks great, and has realistic physics.

Im sure PD is going to lose sleep over reviewers pointing out the game has no career mode.

They actually reviewed this game as a hand held iteration and not a bluray for ps3.

I can see everyone flopping gt psp as hard they can. I kinda feel bad for making fun of forza 3 now. who knew the reviewers would be so butthurt for turn 10.

its like a lesson the reviewers are trying to teach fanboys.
Lesson:
Dont ever compare a hand held game to a console game or we will review that hand held game as a console game.

...This is extremely disappointing as GT:PSP is going to land in around the 70-80% region after all the reviews are in. I had been expecting it to be a 90% title!

After reading several reviews I have to admit that the lack of a career mode is just plain stupid but surely this could be patched?

Don't know if I will pick this up now. I love a good racing game but I never find myself venturing towards a "quick race" option.

Maybe it would have been better just to get GT2 running on the PSP?

This is for a handheld machine, mainly played on the go. If you want career mode etc, then buy GT5. The reviews give the impression of more freedom of choice, no career as such but you can kind of tailor your gaming which is a great idea for a handheld game where you might be playing in spits and spats. I can see why its like this. Unfortunately its going to get compared to the console version on PS2 which is a shame, it should be reviewed as a HANDHELD game. People have been complaining for YEARS on PSP ports from PS2... well now we have a game tailored to PSP and folks are complaining again! Sony... damned if you do... damned if you don't. I'll not be complaining come launch day as I will get it FREE when I buy the PSPgo!

Well, if the game has 800 cars, then I would have cut that down to 400 and been able to add a career mode. If I had been PD, I mean. I'm sure they had their reasons, maybe they didn't anticipate that people would want a career mode. It's usual to see that the PSP version of even the greatest of franchises don't exactly match up with their console siblings.

I'm sure they would have given this game a 11/10 if it where on the DS. The PSP always gets dealt a bad hand by reviewers. I call shenanigans.

Just looks like an on the move GT game... Seems enjoyable enough to be a purchase for on the go gaming but its certantly not some epic handheld game packed with content... You can look at it 2 ways

The game doesnt live up to the console GT games

OR

The game works as intended on a handheld console

I personally agree with the 2nd statement and may actually buy this game... But first I need Dissidia =)

..when will you have the time to complete a huge GT career mode on a handheld?!! Aren't handheld games meant to be able to be a quick pick up and play experience? What happens when GT5 come out? You wanna have to complete BOTH those career modes? Screw that. This is perfect for me as I can play a quick race here and there while to and from work, build up a decent collection of cars....and then transfer them to GT5 when it's out! What's not to like? I don't have the time to be playing console length games on a handheld anymore...that's why I bought a console :)

Is that gt psp is a great tech demo for what can truly be accomplished on the PSP but it's not the gran turismo everyone expected.

It's got great gameplay and graphics but lacks options, gamemodes and replay value. I personally prefer mobile games to be very pick-up and play and I would've liked to see gran turismo do a shortened career mode.

either way it's game people will need to play for themselves to find out if they like it.

but who cares am picking up my copy the 1st and enjoy GT like i have ever since the first one and am gona get to drive my dream car, the BUGGATI VEYRON. i cant wait

People are put off by the fact that it's designed for a portable and that's why they aren't happy, but it's still the best racing game for a handheld(that's the general conclusion)

now I can see people outside of japan not caring to much about this, but people in japan play way more handheld's so why would they not include that?

oh well lots of cars lots of fun.

might pick this up for my psp, but P3 might get the buy from this.
