ON TOPIC: I think that it will certainly add an element of nostalgia having others make a return. It worked good in KOTOR 2 and it will work for ME 2 also
I must agree with Wong, if the same characters don't return Bioware will find a way for some new ones to come in and offer another solid epic experience.

Not sure if you played it buddy, but the cast is what made the story so good, you had Shepard, Ashley, and few others you recruit to your team and build a relationship. Through the game you interact with them and they are necessary in your survival, also in your emotions as a character.
