Batman AA Joker Maps To Remain PS3 Exclusive, DLC Coming Soon

Joystick Division writes: "The 360 and PC version's WON'T be getting the Joker maps in this DLC update or any other. While playing the game at Comic-Con, the Warner Bros. employee guiding me through the game let it slip that the Joker maps were paid for by Sony and will never, ever, ever be released on any other platform besides PS3."

look ms bought gta dlc for an insane price yet they didnt sell more copies of the game or more consoles. All they did was waste money that coulda kept their first party studios going for years... Do you guys think Rockstar mighta made more money if they had the dlc on ps3. Prob imo not only that but they lost a lot of face with their loyal ps fans. So who wims? No one.

yeah, you already got your "full experience" with the retail copy of Batman AA! this is not a gift from the devs themselves, but from Sony to PS3 owners because Sony exclusively paid for it for their fans! this is exactly the same case as GTAIV DLC where the DLCs don't have direct linking to the main story! but what makes it sweeter this time around is Sony gave the DLC for FREE.

Contracts these days can have plenty of loopholes. DLC may remain exclusive but MS or WB can always release these in say a "Demo" disc or "update" disc or somesort of format other than DLC.

I think exclusive extra content for multiplatfrom games is bad for consumers in the long run, even if there is some justifaction by the big corporations that it helps with hardware sales. Ultimately though it just leaves a bad taste in video game buyers' mouths, and makes us second guess whether we should buy future games from makers that go with the corporate payoffs. That stuff ends up pissing off half of the people that bought the game.

Game makers: we do take notice of this kind of stuff when deciding on future purchases from your companies.

I don't look at it so black & white as to never buy from a certain company again. But I have a budget like most people, and can't buy every game that looks cool to me. If I am holding two games in my hand at the store, trying to decide which one to buy, I will most definately take into consideration if I think the developer does not support the platform I play on as much as the other platform with additional content. That extra bit of information may sway me to choose the other game instead. As more & more games come out for the next gen systems, I have to weigh a lot more game choices against each other. I will not be buying every game that comes out.

There's a world of difference between Rockstar/Microsoft charging for The Lost and Damned which was an entirely new CAMPAIGN vs. Sony giving away some short challenge map.

Even if it had been Sony that dropped $50 million for exclusivity you can bet that they wouldn't be giving away the IV DLC.

That said I'm getting real sick of this "DLC exclusivity" bullshit. Dual console owners like myself realize that its just a ploy for the cheap fanboys who can only afford one console. As long as there's still "exclusive DLC" there will always be the pointless "You got Lost and Damned but we got Joker DLC!" type threads. I wish all of the people who post stuff like that would just shut the f*ck up and realize that both systems have their pros and cons and that blind allegiance to anything simply breeds ignorance and denial.

Look, in the age of exclusives going multiplatform, this is the only thing that can be exclusive at this point. And I'm not really feeling like I'm missing out on life not getting to play as the Joker in a game like this. If they ever do it in a game like COD. For example, if 360 gets a gun that PS3 doesn't, I don't have an issue with it.

Just like I didn't care when GTA got their DLC, I don't care now. Personally, I'm not a fan of paying for extra things in DLC unless it's like an episodic game and it's adequately priced.

Xbox 360 gets the amazing GTA IV DLC, GTA IV being the highest rated game this gen, and one of the best games of all time period, and each DLC a full expansion and a 10 hour story, own multiplayer and essentially each one its own new game, especially when you take into account Episodes From Liberty City.

Xbox 360 also gets, almost an entire YEAR timed exclusive DLC for Fallout 3, a massive game, one of the best of 2008 and one of the best RPG's this gen, if not the best.

PS3 gets some tiny challenge map add on

Maybe...just maybe...Sony saw the current trend of MS swooping in from on high and grabbing every bit of DLC content to be exclusive for themselves and said...."you know...it's about time that our supporters...the ones who MAKE US who we are...should get at least ONE reward before this next gen is over!?!?!" It was a gift that I will GLADLY take. That being said...I still HATE that DLC content, in general, cannot be enjoyed by everybody. It is one of the many things that will continue to polarize this already heated gaming industry. However, it is probably done on purpose. The more polar it becomes...the more fanboys they create. The more fanboys...the more FREE MARKETING they get. Whether good or bad...no one can deny that an average consumer (casual gamer, new gamer) can be swayed by even the most pathetic of fanboys. (witnessed this on numerous occasions in just about every electronics department and videogame store in my city)
