"Recently, the NBA filed a trademark for the phrase "NBA JAM" for a whole host of potential IP areas. Some of those areas include the less-than-exciting "newsletters, coloring books, binoculars, sunglasses, eyeglass frames, eyewear straps and chains". However, there is also included in the application the phrase, "computer game software, downloadable video game programs, interactive video games".
People have work, family, school, and other important things that prevent them from playing basketball on a court. Some people like the sport, some people don't. However, when it comes to basketball video games, even 5 or 10 minutes can bring out people's basketball skills in a video game.
Nice article. I would add Tecmo NBA Basketball for the NES to this list. I liked the focus on NBA Jam, though!
Thank you and I'll see what I can do.
I will do my best to add it later when I have time.
Chris Buffa (Modojo): It appears publisher Electronic Arts is in the spirit of giving. Either that, or it wants to dominate the App Store charts.
Regardless of the company's true intentions, you'll be happy to know that all (and we mean ALL) EA published iPhone and iPad games are now $0.99 (or free) for a limited time, which gives you the perfect opportunity to capitalize on its best titles.
With this in mind, make sure you grab these ten games immediately.

The famous "Konami Code", a string of simple commands almost every video game player knows by heart. Although it first debuted in the 1986 NES title, Gradius, the cheat gained notoriety for granting 30 lives in the NES version of Contra, a side scrolling title so difficult most players relied on the code to beat the game.
Don't forget to press Select before you press Start for two players. lol!
(Wait ain't that suppose to be A, B, A, B?) o_O
"BOOM-SHAKALAKA"
... but now, I'd prefer a HD remake of NBA Street 3, with more courts and stuff etc. NBA Street 3 is obviously much better than NBA Jam.
HE'S ON FIRE!
He's heating up! I just hope Clinton and Gore are playable!
I would love a new NBA Jam. Keep it like the old arcade versions just with better graphics. Two on Two was great fun. I would love to see some of the greats like Magic and Jordan be in the game. Plus like in the old NBA Jam games there was hidden characters may be there could be Obama or Bush. I so would love to see the game on PSN, Live Arcade & Wiiware. So I hope this is real.
