Assassin's Creed 2 – 20 Minutes of New Footage

The original Assassin's Creed was met with mixed feelings. One of the primary examples of a true love/hate relationship, gamers of all kinds had different feelings for the Ubisoft game. Whether you hated it or not, the game sold enough copies to warrant a sequel. Scheduled to release this November, Assassin's Creed 2 will take players into the world of the Italian Renaissance. Mixing in new weapons inspired by famous inventor and artist Leonardo Da Vinci, players will be performing assassinations like never before.

I didn't like the first game, but this looks amazing. They said they fixed the issues (primarily repetitiveness) and if that's true this is guaranteed AAA. Probably a first day buy for me.

There is definite improvement here. The combat system is looking better, they've added new animation and weapons which is good. I liked the smoke bomb and mark the target in particular. I hope the game plays better and the missions are deep this time around. I hope the characters and story telling is improved too.

Does look nice the stealing money and hiring goons is slick, and when underground it turns into classic POP, def just got hotter for me.

I really enjoyed the first one. My only cons is that it got repetitive at the end, and the sci-fi "twist" was just stupid.

Scientists have been working on memory DNA for a while,how a bird instinctively knows to eat a worm or how a salmon will swim the oceans to a spawning point it never knew existed. The twist plays on that over exaggerated concept and made a unique story. How easy would it have been to leave the medieval story and have just gone with it?
Plus the writing on the cell walls at the end was brilliant,it isn't just garbled message if you know what you are looking at.

Oh and : please for god sake actually hire people who know how to play these damn games,watching that fight at the end was cringeworthy.

I would rather have a focused story set in the Medieval than a dual story story left with a cliffhanger ending, that wasn't told well.

That aside, this game will be sweet. The first was a little repetitive but still a blast. The new fighting system looks like a serious upgrade.

Such a giant improvement over AC1, which was a great game. I already preordered the Collector's Edition, and this video made me feel even better that I did!! xD

This game will be same as the first, pretty to look at but just missing that special something that makes it incredibly fun and addicting. I'm sure it will be good but the gameplay in the first game was boring to me and this looked like a whole lot more of the same.

I don't think this will outsell the first. Maybe in the lonnnnng run but honestly I think too many people got burned by the first and aren't interested in this one. It doesn't have nearly the hype around it that the first one had, but who knows, maybe it'll sell more. It looks better in pretty much every way (although I think the first had a more polished HUD, but this isn't the final build so maybe it'll look a little better). I personally loved the first game. Yes, it was repetitive, but the atmosphere, scenery and traversal was like nothing else out there.

What am I missing? This does not look "amazing" or like a "GOTY" contender. I skimmed through the videos, what stands out for you guys? Looks like more of the same to me, and it looks a little dated when it comes to the combat and animations. Just my opinion. By all means, enlighten me.

The added gameplay mechanics stand out to me. The pickpocketing, the poisoning other people so they go crazy and inadvertantly kill others, the fact that you can throw money around the poisoned guy's feet and people will run to grab it and get their heads chopped off by the poisoned flailing guy, the cool linear structured Prince of Persia style storyline parts, the fact that there's actual chests and an inventory now, lots of new weapons, a complete combo set for about 30 different weapon types, the fact that you can use any weapon you take off a person, and loot anybody you kill, assassinate 2 people at once, tons of mission variety, and the same awesome graphics and freerunning as the first one. I'm not saying it's GOTY, but it does look damn cool. It seems to have a lot of things that have never been done before.
