It looks like the PS3 has had one if its best weeks for hardware sales. Whether the boost is a bump or a spike remains to be seen though. Next week, Pokemon will give the DS yet another big push.
Essentially, I see PS3 hardware sales this week at 9,000 (old baseline) + 26,000 (price cut) + 25,000 (Gundam) + 20,000 (Slim). That puts you at 80,000, so expect PS3 hardware sales to be 65,000 to 95,000 units for the week, given the margin of error on how these factors will come together. If the system does manage to top 87,000 units, this will be the best week for PS3 hardware sales ever in Japan. The PS3 has only topped 65,000 seven times in its entire lifespan in Japan, so if it reaches 65,000 it's quite a good week for Sony.

A look back at 4A Games' admirably consistent post-apocalyptic shooter franchise.
Won't last.
I think the sales will be vene higher for the PS3 because of the lack of supplies in the last few weeks. People who were trying to get hold of a new PS3 will finally be able to to now.
I don't know how long it'll last but I can definitely see PS3 sales being high for a while.
EDIT: In other news, go DQIX! You keep going! Don't give up! and also bring on Pokémon!
