OXCGN Reviews: Wolfenstein – Achtung B.J.

OXCGN:

"Throughout the history of video games, few enemies have made more appearances or better targets than Nazis.

It is not implausible to estimate at least a trillion digital Nazis have met bloody ends on gaming systems worldwide since Wolfenstein 3D kick started the first-person-shooter genre 17 years ago...

While the latest re-imagining of the franchise is nowhere near as revolutionary as the original, it sticks close to the proven formula and delivers a fun, adrenaline-filled Nazi extermination experience.Throughout the history of video games, few enemies have made more appearances or better targets than Nazis."

The small percentage of this game that I have played so far I like, so it will be a game I'll play through to the end - at some stage.

All those fools who say that there should be "duck and cover" system mechanics really are missing the point: duck and cover slows the 'run and gun' style that has always been part of Wolfenstein, and I personally love the fact the game feels so much faster...

You can kill a ton of enemies with a large number of weapons all while running around. No slow poke "enter new environment. Stop. Peer around corner. Roll and duck. Blind shoot and manuever to flanking position...": there are a ton of games that do that already since GRAW and yes they rule, but so does this.

A quite decent game I thoroughly enjoyed. Difficult for it compete with Batman and ODST right on its tail, but definitely worth a rent.

Is anyone else obsessed with the bayonet attachment? that thing is so much fun!

I haven't used that one yet...I'll have to try it! I do like the axe though...beheadings in one go.

It got old tbh. Machine needed a break from the IP. Indie is a good reprieve.

Scheiße! Nein.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the best in the series. After that:
New Order
New Colossus
Old Blood

I really wish they'd remake Return to Castle Wolfenstein from the ground up. Easily the best of them all.

Speaking on Wassup Conversations, Matthies told the host that once MachineGames was founded, it didn't have enough money to hire a full development team and pitched around ideas for a while.
