IGN No More Heroes 2 Blowout

We play Travis Touchdown's latest murder-fest -- more polished and crazier than its predecessor.

Hideous Kojima5356d ago (Edited 5356d ago )

Poor Bayonetta and God of War 3. Those pretentious games that are exactly like last-gen titles but with "prettier" do not stand a chance against NMH 2.

This looks like a gargantuan step forward for the franchise. Way more variety, kickass cutscenes, awesome combat system, fantastic visual style and now even 8 bit minigames.

Oh Suda51, you are the man.

It's funny that Grasshopper, a really small development studio is capable of doing more interesting stuff that almost any other developer out there.

Goomba125356d ago

Grasshopeer takes a lot of "risks". Those risks usually show up as low sales but cult games. I still wish Killer 7 would get a sequel.

TruthbeTold5356d ago (Edited 5356d ago )

1. NMH2 is probably just as similar to the original as those games you mentioned are to their past incarnations.

2. All I personally want out of God of War 3 is similar but enhanced game play, better graphics, and a great end to the mythology. Looks like that's exactly what we're going to get.

mastiffchild5356d ago

Well. Suda is a guy that seems totally in love with the things he works with. Wrestling(esp masks!), Anime, games and madness all combine within his rabid mind to help create some of the most affecting and refreshing games you're likely to play.

NMH was a fantastic game and a brave game for Wii-as Killer7 was before it fo GC/PS2-and showed Suda had no intent of falling out of his enchantment for pop-culture references in his madcap games-DS looks like being an equally enthralling experience and , for me, gis games have become little events to treasure.

I'm also very keen to see where his PS3 survival horor game goes and do wonder if it's the game mooted as a combo of him and Shinji mikami-as that sounds a nigh on perfect team(my head would prolly explode if it was and they announced Koj would also be joining!).

However, much as Travis Touchdown is onhe of my favourite new characters anywhere in gaming you, Hideous, should NEVER underestimate either Kratos at SCEA SA OR Kamiya's latest madness either. The GOW sries has given a great deal to gaming and with the new "Titan gameplay" and "zipper" dismemberment system is introducuing EXACTLY the kind of stuff we all imagined when the HD gen started. As for Bayonetta-words fail me and if it's as sleek as previous Kamiya entries(DMC3 esp)to go with the OTT bonkers stuff it should be an unmissable treat as well.

I just think all three games should be great(Bayonetta I'm less certain of but, face it, the guy usually delivers)and there's plenty of room for the visceral, gravelly and elegantly stabby killing of Kratos, the abondoned freestyle of Bayonetta AND the unwavering geek-cool of Suda's most lovable franchise, no? Surely they all make gaming a MUCH more interesting place.

EvilTwin5355d ago

I'm with Mastiff. GOW is absolutely badass. Sure, I prefer NMH (there just isn't anything else like it), but there's enough room for everyone.

N4g_null5353d ago

GOW3 just doesn't do it for me. Dismembering people isn't all that fun, just ask midway what happens when you try to replace fun deep game play and style with brutle gore and boring game play.

GOW is not a direction I want to see gaming go. NMH2 is more of my speed. Hell even epics beat em up sounds cooler to me. I think what puts me off the more about games from HD production is the lack of taste and this weird generic after taste I keep getting. It is almost like your friends forgot what was cool and fun.

no one seems to be interested, i hope that doesn't reflect the sales...

theunknown5356d ago

God I hope not; based on the quality of the video, perhaps Ubi will actually try to support it.

Goomba125356d ago

Killer idea for the sidejobs to be in 2D.

EvilTwin5355d ago (Edited 5355d ago )

Yes it is. Totally fits in with the 8-bit aesthetic from the first game. I'm actually going to be excited for the sidejob stuff now.

That said...I'm a bit worried about the open world/sandbox aspect. It was actually kinda funny in the first game (a sort of parody of GTA-inspired clones), but I don't want a ton of pop-in and ridiculously bad collision detection again, and they're not showing off any footage of cruising around Santa Destroy.

FiftyFourPointTwo5356d ago

The original NMH is one of the most underrated games this gen.

This is how promotional trailers should be done.

These ports should’ve also come to PS4 like No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Back did

BlaqMagiq11058d ago

Without question. Suda himself even said he had PS4 remasters prepared years ago. I wonder what the holdup is.

June 9th lets goooooooo! Almost bought these on Switch cause ive never played them before and they look right up my alley. Glad i waited it out.

Venoxn4g1064d ago

Well, to each his own I guess, but to play No More Heroes without the motion controls (like on Wii or Nintendo Switch) it is not as fun in my opinion. This is one of the games where motion controls really add the fun factor.

Amplitude1063d ago

Oh actually?

I wonder if you can use the Wii controller on PC... If not, I suppose I'll take your word for it and grab it for Switch haha
