Bind on account items in Diablo 3?

With the comment from Jay Wilson at Blizzcon that some items will be BOE (bind on equip) it raises the question about BOP (bind on pickup) items making it into the game. Bashiok explains the perspective of the development team and their goals in confirming BOP items will not be in Diablo 3, but it's possible we'll see some BOA (bind on account)...

...just sounds like a shared inventory item section of the stash that all of your characters call communally share, like in sacred 2... which is a good thing, nothing worse than having to screw around trying to trade items online, when if you find a set item for another character you can just pass it along.

I also don't know what he meant with the "best staff in the game" comment, don't all items have level requirements, so you wouldn't be able to just give hard core items to newb characters anyway...only other characters of similar levels or stat requirements

No you've got it wrong - he's talking about not being able to trade items once you've equipped them. Once you've equipped it, it binds to your character so you're the only one who can use it.

i think it's more to do with accidentally trading things, or maybe auto equiping picked up items which will replace worn ones ( if better) UNLESS you manually equip it, making it stick, my points above:

"So if you yourself "own" an item from it being bound, you can trade it between all the characters on your account freely"

"One obvious issue with it is that it removes market demand. If you already have the best staff in the game you'll never need one again"

.. i think it means you can't remove some items once they're equipped. That means no trading if an already bound BOE item is used.

At any rate.. anything D3 gets me giddy

Diablo 2's big draw is the trading. If they take any aspect of that away, I'm not touching the already ugly thing. WoW made me furious when I found out about bound items.

I think for items similar to torches and annihilus and standard of heroes, binding could work, but it's only going to hurt trading. I don't care what their reasons are, you don't get the best item in the game only to b eforced to hoard it. If you want/need to trade ANYTHING to help out your character you should have the right to do so.

The more I hear about this game the less and less inclined I am to play it. I play D2 religiously, and played through D1 more times than I care to remember, lol. I don't think D3 is going to be where it's at for me, especially with bound gear...

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

What Can Diablo IV Learn From Diablo II

Diablo IV may be the latest entry from the Diablo series, but it can sure learn a thing or two from the iconic Diablo II. Both of these games are different and similar to each other, but Diablo II's phenomenal presence should still be more appearing in Diablo IV to make the game even better in its current state.

Diablo 2 Receives 60 FPS Update Thanks To A New Mod

A fan-run initiative called Project Diablo 2 has brought a 60 FPS update for the classic Diablo title, among other changes.

Boo! Thought this was eventually a patch for diablo2 on PS5. The fact that they can’t get that game to run in quality mode at 60fps is an absolute joke!
