Psx Extreme: You may have heard it here before: we are aware of a truly huge PS3 exclusive title that hasn't been announced or confirmed as of yet. Now, as we have promised to keep the game under wraps, we still can't tell you what it is... But with the recent price drop, the introduction of the PS3 Slim, and more reasons than ever to have a PS3 in your entertainment center, we wanted to give you one more.

As Ben says, this game can sit next to blockbusters like GOW3, Uncharted 2, GT5, TLG.... So obviously that rules out new IPs. As of now, all signs point to Twisted Metal as it's a AAA series with the same respect as most of the above titles.

Bye Dragoon 2, Getaway 3 and Starhawk. Could only be Syphon Filter, or Twisted Metal. The guy who created the syphon filter series was working on 8 days before it was canned, but he had created one of the best cover mechanics ever seen in a game. My guess is he turned this into a Syphon Filter re-boot game.

Jak and Dexter would have to be done by someone not named Naughty Dog..I would think. And I think Resistance 3 should be annouced around January, but I would think the "massive upgrade" statement would almost certainly make any PS3 released title off the list. Maybe Epic will do an exclusive game in the Gears universe not Gears 3 but with new characters specific to the PS3. I think the "Highly Unlikely" statement leaves 3rd parties on the table.

You know, the FFVII remake really isn't that far-fetched of a guess. Kitase said very, very recently that news might come at a later time about the remake. That's a complete turnaround from the company's usual response, "SquareEnix has no intention of ever making the money-printer that would be a FFVII remake. We don't like money. We think it disrupts the Lifestream."

It would be very convenient for such a Japan-centric company to start talking at the Tokyo Game Show...

Alot of people are saying Twisted Metal which I really hope is wrong cause while it's a good series It's quite frankly one I don't really care much about and there are much better Sony IP's that could use expansion or revival.

Now we have another BBC game on our hands. I hate the waiting and guessing but i love the fact that we will have another truly amazing game hopefully on the same level as TLG.

It can't be a new IP as they say its on the same level as GT5 which mean its going to be a really,really big franchise.

I think its Resistance 3. Here is why.

1. It is familiar.
2. He says it will be a big upgrade from the previous installment. I think Resistance 3 might use more of the tech in KZ2 engine.
3. If everything goes well it will come out the end of 2010. This is in-line with I.G one AAA game a year release cycle near the end and its Resistance turn in 2010.

Reistance 3 is my best guess. The other possibilities is TM obviously or Syphon Filter. The problem is i think it is widely know that TM is basically confirmed from Davids blog. Syphon filter i am not sure if it is familiar with current gen userbase, i could be wrong with my interpertation. Agent is already announced.

FF& remake is a long shot since it is 2010 and we still have FF13Vs to come out of SE. MGS5 which would be the best news ever for me however Kojima are already working on PW and MGSR. :(

The last bit of information is what really makes me even wonder more. EXCLUSIVITY!. If its a Sony IP they wouldn't brought this up or would they?.

What about Starhawk?. Would that be big enough?. It is rumored to be developed by lightbox which is 3rd party and it is a possiblity that it might go mulit but highly unlikely.

Because "Highly unlikely" is not the same thing as "guaranteed" and if it were first or second-party then it's *guaranteed* to be exclusive. So if it's third-party... hmm... what could it be? Not Twisted Metal, as that would be second-party and since Sony owns the IP, it definitely *guaranteed* would not go multi-platform.

IMO Twisted Metal isn't a big enough franchise for what he compares the game to. TM is only big in the US and many EU/UK/Japanese gamers are unfamiliar with the series-it doesn't sell out of the US.

I don't, though I'd love to, feel that KH3 is possibly advanced enough(if at all) with Nomura so busy this year(he hasn't even been working on Vs but more on FF13 and DQX IIRC.

DJ isn't at Incovnito anymore so his bnew company might be third party though and as Warhawk was pretty/is pretty damn popular the game could be Starhawk, imo. If it's getting a SP that alone would be a big upgade along with any other improvements. It's never been officially announced either.

That said it could be anything but the games/releases Dutka compares it to do suggest something either massive(like KH size)or that used to be at one point(like, long shot, the new mooted "horror" Tomb Raider)-I'd like to think Capcom might be behind it though yet just cnnot see a PS exclusive from them even if I'd kill for Onimusha or even Dino Crisis PS3.

What doesn't add up, to me anyway, is the way it's made out to be a third party game(or why even mention the possibility of it going multi no matter how slim?)yet it's supposedly Sony themselves who're keeping them schtum(suggesting they're publishing it)and what big third party game are they likely to be publishing? It's not Twisted Metal. Because that would be a second-party game. Sony owns the IP, which means that Sony would be publishing, which means that it would DEFINITELY be an exclusive. At the end of the article he says that it is "Highly unlikely" that this game would go multiplatform. That leaves the chance open that it could. Which in turn means it's a third-party game, and therefore it's not Twisted Metal.

Edit: Then again, it mentions that "we're at the mercy of Sony now" which implies that Sony is involved with this title directly and is able to give the thumbs up or thumbs down as far as when and what the media reveal. So if that's the case, I don't understand why there is any chance for the game to go multiplatform? You're right. Drama queen. The two notions are contradictory, that Sony has the reins on this and also the statement of "highly unlikely" to go multiplatform. Why mention that last part if it's a Sony title? If no decent hint, no hype, so such announcements are just failures. Say something relevant or don't say anything, but don't tease the gaming community over something you wont unveil neither help to identify.

Given that the games lead designer told them about it, it is almost certainly not coming from a japanease dev so no mgs/kh3 etc. The only things I can think which fit the bill are twisted metal and starhawk, but I wouldn't put either of those in 'elite' bracket.

Keep in mind that I am solely basing this off of the subtle hints offered in the article. I have two games that come to me. The first and most logical choice is GTA 5. Now I realize that R* has allowed Sony to reveal Agent, but that could possibly a cover up. When he says "better than the last installment" "everyone will love it" "can stand with blockbuster titles" I immediately think of the GTA franchise. He also references how the Slim's launch could be affected by this title (increased sales). This makes me think of GTA 3 and the PS2 era when it got a massive sales boost because of it. The fact that he may be able to discuss more about this title early next year gives me the impreession that there may be a big surprise blowout announcement/trailer at or around E3; the territory where GTA is most popular. It is 3rd party and it is a BIG title; which leads me to my second choice. This 3rd party company has lost some points with the Playstation community worldwide for various reasons. When the article says "highly unlikely to go multiplatform" I immediately think of Square Enix. The past has been written...rolled and sealed in a scroll with regards to FF13, so no need for me to get into that. However, FF7 is another story. A next-gen remake qualifies for the same previous reasons as GTA5: "everyone will love it" (all FF fans have been rallying for it for years), "everyone will love it" (FF7 is generally referred to as the best in the series), and "can stand with blockbuster titles" the quality of *MOST of the FF games is second to none. So this is my conspiracy theory. How sweet any one of these two would be. -Rip-Ridah.

I have to disagree with you about Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 13 will be release 06/13/2010. PSX Extreme says, "But if everything goes well, we'd like to think this game will be ready to go by the end of 2010."

It's not possible that Final Fantasy 7 will be released 6 months after FF13. On top of that Square is working on their MMO. Their hands are full right now. When and if they do decide to begin working on FF7, Square will probably use all their resource to work on that gem.

With the recent expansions of Bungie, the developer of halo. And with them going independent from microsoft. What would sony's best option be to convert some of the 360 owners, and get them to buy a ps3. All i know is that halo has a huge fanbase, and it would be a good way to get more people to buy a ps3. Grand theft auto 5. Come on, Kingdom Hearts??? Why would they even mention that it had a chance of NOT being multiplatform; it has always been exclusively Sony. Anyways, it has to be GTA. Why?

1. Because, even when massively upgraded, it will always stay familiar (considering the series made sandbox games what they are today).
2.GTA has been one of the most respected and popular series in the last two generations, which coincides with the triple a status that is already given to the game.
3.Why would the article mention the game might not be multiplatform if the game before it wasn't. That narrows it down to all multiplatform AAA titles out on both consoles now, in this generation (stop hanging on to the ps2,geez....)
We all know Rockstar has been a Sony first company, even in the last generation (both Vice City and San Andreas came out on the Ps2 first before being ported to the Xbox). With GTAIV, Rockstar has kind of left Sony out in the dark; while the 360 has seen DLC, the ps3 hasn't. This could all have been purposely done by R*, let GtaIV go to the 360, and let V go to the Ps3. And, R* already has more Ps3 exclusive games coming (The Agent,maybe La Noir). Sooooo,with all that said, my chips are on R* bringing GTA back home with V.
