not suprising with the Joker content.

Greywulf5358d ago

The fighting system is bullet proof, then the upgrades are insane. Play it on hard, and you will definitely get a new love for how badass/precise batman has to be. Each fight is intense, each boss is rewarding.

It is one of the best games of 2009.

As far as its relation with the Playstation. It will show new owners that the current games of the last few years are up to par, and deliver excellent gaming experiences not only with First party, but multiplatform as well.

Its the Unreal engine, this is the new bar for all Unreal titles, and from ROCKSTEADY no less!

deadreckoning6665358d ago

Looks like the consumers aren't complete retards after all.

Cwalat5358d ago

Surprising considering it's in the US.

Here in Europe PS3 games usually sell more than 360 games, but in the US it's the opposite... until now, i guess.

GWAVE5358d ago

Interesting...

So I guess this means in about...*checks clock*...45 minutes we will see 4 new articles here on N4G with the title "But but but but multiplatform games are still better on 360, right?".

5358d ago
ceedubya95358d ago

I chose the PS3 version over the 360 version only because of the free, exclusive content.

I can only imagine how many dual console owners did the same thing.

Elven65358d ago

If you own a both consoles, why not choose the version that gives you extra? The fact that the devs crushed any hope for Xbox 360 exclusive characters or even a DLC pack that had what the PS3 version gets probably didn't help much either.

Regardless, this game is great, what ever platform you own it on, you win!

darthv725358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

It would have been great if the exclusive joker content had any real bearing on the storyline. Being able to play him at key points within the game to try and take down batman is what I was hyped for when it was first announced.

Playing the joker in challenge levels is as pointless as the armor you get to dl if you preordered from walmart. Not to mention that if it was as simple to make this a dl then it means it will be released for the 360 at a premium later on.

No offense to those that like it but that kind of exclusive dlc really lacks substance.

rubarb235358d ago

1) joker dlc

and more importantly

2) 360 version is getting pirated like crazy

Guido5358d ago

Being able to play as the Joker is tits and it is free. Maybe the other company should take notes again?

harrisk9545358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

I was amazed when I got the game home... it gives you a Batcave for a personal space in Home, it has bonus material on the blu-ray, including making-of type videos and trailers, and it uses sixaxis motion controls if you want... And that is on top of the Joker content... ALL FOR FREE! PS3 is definitely the version to buy.

Thugbot1875358d ago

It could be several things as to the reasons why but my guess would say the extra content.

The other thing could be PS3 fans are more DC comic fans personally I'm more about Marvel but then again it’s just a preference and what you grew up with.

Cold 20005358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

How come its the PS3 version that has exclusive content ? I mean what so hard in putting the Joker in both versions ?

This game hasnt really been on my radar so I dont know much about it.

morganfell5358d ago

I don't think it is just the content. I eschewed the midnight launch and picked up my copy of Batman the next day. While I was there two guys came in together, each with a 360 in tow and traded them. They picked up PS3s and copies of Batman. I asked them and they said it was due to the PS3.

It's possible the price drop is having an influence.

Guido5358d ago

Because the 360 can't handle the Joker Content. The content is just too sexy for the 360.

cmrbe5358d ago

if it does in NA. Lets not forget that there are 7.5 million more x360 in NA. It would look extremely bad for MS "IF" NDP shows the PS3 version outselling the x360 version. People and devs will really start asking weather there are really 7.5 million more functional x360 in NA.

TheBand1t5358d ago

I dunno, why was Lost and the Damned exclusive to 360?

I'd argue the Fallout 3 DLCs too but I believe those are coming to the PS3 if memory serves.

red5ive5358d ago

i live in toronto, ontario. good thing i pre-ordered my copy of the collector's edition for the ps3 because (you guessed it) they were sold out of both versions of the ps3 game at eb games. they had PLENTY of 360 copies of both versions.

mastiffchild5358d ago

Exclusive DLC rarely effects which version people get, imho, as controller preference and where your mates game usually outdo that stuff-and the differences between versions is rarely, if ever, worth noting these days.

TR:U sold better on the PS3 without the DLC the 360 got didn't it? Here I suspect it's just another franchise that appeals more widely to PS3 owners than 360 owners like SF and RE as well-it just happens much as I suspect KZ2 would've sold better on the 360 had it been made for it. Horses for courses even if the DLC has a tiny effect.

PS3PCFTW5358d ago

is at fault

its a wrap.

its pretty evident

morganfell5358d ago

They should be asking already.

dragunrising5358d ago

Extra content always goes a long way in encouraging consumers to pick one version over another. The release of the PS3 Slim probably doesn't hurt either. With that said, it will be interesting to see which version ultimately sells the most in brick and mortar. I will probably buy the PS3 version myself.

JL5358d ago

Ok, this is for you people who talk about "well it's because of the exclusive content" or "well people usually pick which version depending on which controller they like best for that type of game" or "they choose it depending on what system their friends have who will also play the game". None of that matters people. If you look at the big picture, it is such an insignificant factor. Only a very very small percentage of the gaming community actually owns both a 360 and a PS3. Something like sub-10% if I remember correctly. So it's not a matter of that, in the big picture, that has no real bearing on it. It only matters here because this is a center for the "hardcore gamers" who invest a big part of their life to gaming, thus are far more likely to own both consoles. Yet, on the whole, this very "hardcore gamer" section is just a very small part of the entire gaming community (and hell not even all the hardcore gamers here own both...I don't and I never will). The simple fact of the matter (if these numbers are true) is that evidently the ps3 owners are more interested in this title than the 360 demographic is.

Y'all really gotta get over this pissing contest and wanting to compare between the consoles on EVERYTHING. If the game does sell better on ps3 than 360, that is no testament to one console being better than the other or that one console sucks gamers into choosing them over the other for this game purchase. The vast majority of gamers don't have a choice of version. They simply have the choice of: do I get it or not? Not the choice of: 360 version or ps3 version?

ShadowCK5358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

Who cares about the sales of a game? Do you care that Fallout 3 sold more on the Xbox 360 and PC compared to the PlayStation 3? Are you going to be thinking about the sales whlist you play the game?

No, I didn't think so.

Consoldtobots5358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

well for me it wasn't so much the exclusive joker content as it is me hating the 360 controller for tactical games like this. In fact I prefer the PS3 controller for many game types.

p.s.

GLIDE KICKS ftw lol

lightningsax5358d ago

While it may be true that gamers aren't gawking at NPD numbers while glide kicking a thug or two, game sales are the only way we can take a shot at the "future" of a game/franchise. These also show current market trends when it comes to install base size, DLC, genre, console, quality, review scores, etc. For example, when Grin closed its doors, color no one surprised that looked at the sales numbers for their games. (RIP Bionic Commando Rearmed creators!)

Batman: Arkham Asylum was a game that wasn't shoddily ported to either the 360 or the PS3, both versions are great. There are certain companies *coughvalvecoughburphiccup* that outsource their different ports based on sales to a company that does it wrong, or even nix the multiplatform idea altogether. These sales figures are a good sign that we have a balanced console base for this game, and the next title we'll see in the AA series (come on, there will be one) will go the same route.

edgeofblade5357d ago

This is funny. Because when Microsoft gets exclusive content, it's about an "evil corporation" throwing their money around to destroy little 'ol innocent Sony. Or if a 360 version came with Avatar items, it would be totally lame. Or how making-off videos on the disk is better than free, no-purchase-required Inside Xbox videos to the some effect.

But when Sony does it... those details get glossed over...

Who cares about a Home space. I haven't touched Home for months once I learned how must time I was wasting NOT playing games and falling behind.

The Joker content is great. Enjoy it. That's reason enough for the PS3 version... but don't string out a bunch of disk filler as further justification.

darthv725357d ago

for the 360. Not that it will change the course of sales I actually have a very legitimate reason for purchasing the 360 version OVER the ps3. It is simple really. I have 2 360's. One in the front room and one in the game room.

Now before people start flaming me I need to explain something. I took advantage of the offer from toys r us. Order AA and get lego batman free. Really couldnt pass that up seeing as it would work out better for me. If I got the ps3 version, I would had to split the game time between both games for me and my kids (AA for me, lego for them). Having 2 360's means they can play on one and I on the other.

So for me it wasnt about which had exclusive dlc or better textures. It was about convenience. You cant fault someone for taking advantage of what they got. If I had 2 ps3's i would have done the opposite.

I was at Futureshop yesterday and they didn't have any PS3 versions left....yet they had a whole shelf full of the 360 version...I thought there was a screw up

Roper3165358d ago

no 360 owners only have them for netflix & facebook, they don't buy any games.

sarcasm/

DMason835358d ago

Just because it has sold better at 3 retailers, doesnt make it true. This article is 100% bogus, mark my words. When you see the NPD numbers, most of you will feel extremely dumb.

The-Warranty5358d ago

This is surprising since you know ps3 owners don't buy games.

locos855358d ago

Anyone notice Batman's right arm is bigger than the left? I don't know if they did it on purpose, but just putting it out there.

DonCorneo5358d ago

LMAO!!!! 54.2%

oh yeah, ps3 version has exclusive content and superior graphics

cry more, xbots.

Peter North5358d ago

Considering the Xbox 360 version of Arkham Asylum runs in 640p with limited texturing and a 54.2% failure rate, it's no surprise consumers are choosing the superior Cell enabled version of Batmans latest outing.

54percent5358d ago

That's a lie! I...I.... ;_;

AngryTypingGuy5358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

You guys are blind and retarded if you think the PS3 version has better graphics. Like 95% of other games, the 360 version has more detail and better textures. There is but one reason more people are buying Batman for the PS3...the Joker level. Yes, I know that one review gave the graphics edge to the PS3 version because the PS3 version was zoomed out a little more - probably to hide the lack of textures compared to the 360 version...but many other sources, including IGN gave the slight graphics edge to the 360.

And by the way, when the event of a multiplatform game selling more on the PS3 is a news story...it's not exactly a good thing for the PS3. That means that games selling more on the 360 is the norm. :-)

Go ahead, hit disagree or take away a bubble since that's all you know how to do. God forbid you counter with something intelligent.

TheDeadMetalhead5358d ago

It wasn't just the camera. Apparently the 360 had more graphical problems than the PS3 did. Resolution and texture quality isn't everything.

http://www.lensoftruth.com/...

"Graphics

Although both consoles had issues, the PlayStation 3 had a few less and having a camera that shows more helps when being attacked from all angles, or if you need to find a place to hide."

But whatever. You just keep spinning things, AngryTypingGuy.

let the fuccin cat outta the bag.

PLAY BEYOND the LIMITATIONS of last gen 54.2% hardware

JonnyBadfinger5358d ago

Well according to the PS3 ponys club these "xbots" only buy multiplats... yet when theres a highly reviewed multiplat like Batman AA it doesnt sell.......

.....So to me its quiet obvious which console has no exclusives and absolutely no games (im looking at you PS3), like you guys say figures dont lie.

Its ok though you will get a new game next year or the year after.

And like most adults (clearly something this site is lacking) i out grew batman in the 90s, and actually dont like Batman movies, comics and anything else batman associated. Actually any american bullsh*t super hero is just lame.

Wait a minute i dont even care about this........... so why am i posting??? oh thats right... i was pointing out all the flaws in PS3 pony clubs comments.

please do your self a favour and disagree.

AngryTypingGuy5358d ago

DeadMetalHead - Those "issues" weren't enough to name, were they? Not to mention, look at the pics yourself. The 360 versions looks better in all but two.

And most places, including IGN say that the 360 graphics are a little crisper and give it the edge. I'm pretty sure IGN carries a bit more clout in the industry than lensoftruth...there's no spinning that!

IDetonation5358d ago

Hi, fanboys.
:D

How's it goin?

Good?

Are you all getting worked up and mad?

Take a deep breath...

Chill out.

Consoldtobots5358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

but at the end of the day the version "with better textures and resolution" is gettin the dogcrap stomped out of it by the "inferior" one when it comes to sales.

and after all we all know thats all that matters to fanboys right?

Take that spin and sit on it, obnoxious PS3 haters.

That the fact that u believe its 54.2% shows how ignorant u are.
Word of advice: Don't believe everythg u read on the net. If I recall, up until this year everyone was "certain" that the failure rate was 33%. What makes this 54.2% any more credible? GameInformer surveyed 5000 people out of the millions of 360 owners in NA. So ur telling me that from 5000 people u can make a consensus on millions of 360 owners?

@Mooey- The fact that u have to refer to me as a "little kid" and cuss at me makes ur immaturity level very apparent. I don't need a stats course to know that.

The-Warranty5358d ago

Then IGN, Gamespot, Joystiq, and others wouldn't have reported it also.

Mo0eY5358d ago

Listen, little kid, if you would take a stats course once in your life, then you'd know what the fvck you were talking about. Until then, shut the fvck up while you get owned.

presto7175358d ago (Edited 5358d ago )

does anyone know why they gave both the 360 and ps3 versions the same score even though the ps3 version has the exclusive joker content.

just asking..

@The warranty :
Thnx. But I still think IGN is a biased pro-xbox site. For goodness' sake, they know one version is getting more content than the other, but they dont include that in the review? If the joker was only on 360, they would have made it a point to give the 360 version a higher score.

I just dont trust IGN anymore. Not at all.

I smell bribes.

The-Warranty5358d ago

the joker content wasn't available when they reviewed it.

I'm sure R* knows the Nintendo Switch install base and probably dont really care to port over more R* games to the Nintendo Switch tho i gotta say playing GTA4 & RDR1 on the go on the Nintendo Switch would be dope

Knightofelemia657d ago

I would buy Lollipop Chainsaw, Alice Madness Returns, Enslaved, Splatter House, Brutal Legends, Dante's Inferno, and Dead Space for sure if they were ported to the Switch.

Mobis-New-Nest657d ago

Deus Ex Human Revolution would be a great title to The Holy Grail of All Consoles aka The Nintendo Switch*. Also Haze Remastered, Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5 Remastered, Silent Hill HD Collection, Max Payne 3 Remastered, Call of Duty World At War Remastered, The Orange Box Remastered, Halo Master Chief Collection, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 Remastered, Metal Gear Solid 4 Remastered, Afro Samurai Remastered, Demons Souls Remastered, Xmen Destiny Remastered, Jack and Daxter Collection, Def Jam Icon Remake, Folklore Remastered, Spiderman Edge of Time Remastered, Persona 5 remastered, the list goes on. (*Best Selling Console of All Time)

Can we just get a Bully 2? 😒
