SCEA is working on a brand new marketing campaign to promote the $299 price of the redesigned slim PS3. Unlike previous ads from Sony, some which involved creepy robot babies crying, this campaign is meant to be humorous and less abstract.
Backward compatibility works for many games on newer consoles, but titles such as The Simpsons: Hit and Run have been left out.
From base building to swinging willies, here are the best survival games around, which include a couple of less than obvious picks.
It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.
Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.
They're scum.
"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."
Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.
Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.
But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?
Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.
That one crying baby video was hilarious xD
Cant wait to see the new ads on tv.. thats when the sales should start going up even more. looks like itll be good too.
I know most people on this site are exceedingly quick to point out that the PS3 is in no need of course correction and that everything about it is perfect, but let's face it: it's not perfect (don't worry, I myself am a huge PS3 and am going somewhere with this). While I love almost everything about my ps3, from the games, to the blu-ray, to the psn, to everything else, I am more than willing to admit that Sony has f'ed up in the marketing/promotional department.
And a re-launch is the perfect opportunity to correct this issue. While maintaining the same technology, games and level of service we've come to know and love, this re-launch provides Sony with the opportunity to re-brand the PS3. This may seem obvious, but I think they should really, REALLY go overboard on their advertisements. Buy as many prime time TV spots as possible. Get on all the hero spots of the main web pages. Do EVERYTHING. If two of your commercials come on one after the other, so what! Even better! It makes no sense for the PS3 to spread out its marketing money over a month long period. They should blow all their marketing wad, so to speak, in a one week period just after the slim releases. Then trickle off to almost nothing for a few months, then come back strong a week or so before Black Friday.
As for the nature of their ads, I agree with the article in that this comedic, easy to understand approach is a huge step in the right direction for the PS3 (over crying babies and puddle reflections and stuff). I still think that they should try and hammer home the multi-functionality of the device. The "it only does everything" slogan is a good start, but I would do more. Make the PS3 sexy, an object of desire, something that even regular people are willing to shell out 300$ for. I'm not sure if you remember, but a while back Sony ran an ad where the PS3 was like a swiss army knife and all of its features were its "tools". And there was a wicked rock song in the background. More of that stuff.
Phew. Sorry for waxing on so long. Thoughts anyone?
They could have done a lot better with sales. People just don't realize all the things the PS3 is capable of. If only they had the slogan "It can only do everything," from the start.. Bahh.. better late then never.
Football season is just getting started here in the USA. Be a good time to show it off along with some Madden Madden 10 :D
