Sony PlayStation 'The PlayStation 3 Slim launch Videos' by TBWA\Media Arts London

Sony PlayStation is positioning its new PS3 as a console that goes beyond gaming in a new TV spot created by TBWA\London.
These high-octane ads, which run with the endline the game is just the start seeks to promote the console as an all-round entertainments hub, by highlighting that it can also be used to view blue-ray movies and TV shows.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is to launch an £82 million PS3 marketing campaign designed to help the company win the Christmas console battle.

Pretty good adverts :) Could do with showing off some gameplay too, but overall a MASSIVE improvement on the This is Living adverts

It didn't exactly convince people to get a PS3 and show off what's it's capable of though, did it. I also hated the circus advert, best ads for Sony so far were the Uncharted giant leap teaser ads and obviously the great Killzone 2 ads. Annoyed Infamous didn't get any epic comic book style advertising.

Thing is, the older commercials were great for getting gamers like ourselves into the PS3. But, most of us now already have it and they need to focus on the other people who really aren't hardcore gamers and more than likely are a bit confused by all that's shown in some of the older commercials that just throw a ton of gameplay shots at them.

I remember back when they were running those ads sale rose and stayed high considerably. Then they stopped running them (of course) and sales went back down.

that trailer kicked ass i bought my PS3 because of that ad i wanted an Xbox 360 and as soon as i saw that ad i was like i want that PS3 and now i do and the song kicked ass it was the official theme song of Wrestlemania 23

The best ads i've soon sony do for promoting a playstation product were the Ratchet and Clank ads lol. Those were great. Need more ads like that.

At least its a start. In the uk ps3 ads have been thin on the ground with Nintento dominating on the ads front utilising celebrities,and it has been a success for them.

I still find it puzzling why they are not mentioning that the system has a free web browser. Sony show an advert with an httv playing youtube,google etc.

theres no point in advertising in the summer. Sales are always lower and there are less games out. Its better Sony concentrate thier marketing during the holidays. This way they'll sell more software and hardware due to that time of year being the biggest time they can earn revenue
