Latest Preorders Chart - Modern Warfare, ODST and Arkham Asylum dominate

The latest Americas preorder charts are here and Modern Warfare pulls away even further at the top with another 11 weeks to go before release.

With over a million preorders now (Xbox360 and PS3 combined), Modern Warfare 2 pulls even further ahead of Halo 3: ODST and with eleven weeks to go until release, could easily pass 2 million preorders in total by the time the game releases.

Releasing this week, three games look like doing well over 100,000 copies - Batman: Arkham Asylum, Metroid Prime Trilogy and Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Each version of Arkham Asylum added around 50,000 preorders this week, largely down to very strong reviews and increased marketing closer to launch. As a result, we expect the PS3 version to come in at around 250,000 units week one and the Xbox360 version around 200,000 units and for both games to see favourable drops in weeks 2 and beyond - Arkham Asylum should end up being one of the big hits of the year.

Most of PS3 gamers are still playing KZ2 and probably won't be buying MW2 because the are very satisfied playing KZ2.

COD4 on PSN, before those stupid hacks, was much less laggy than the 360 version because of less traffic. And the PSN servers didn't crash in post-holiday 2007.

And since I could always find a full match, there's no problem.

OT: Unfortunately as expected... people still buy MW2... Halo could have been predicted, and Batman is in its last few days, thought props to it being a great game (Or so it was so far from the demo)

Let me tell you what i like about Arkham Asylum
It's fun , addictive , looks good , voice acting is top notch , the game is dark , great atmosphere , upgrading system adds a lot and helps avoid repetition , VERY story driven and the story is good , cool boss fights and the joker is awesome.

Best superhero game i've played..that ain't hard but..this is a game that makes the batman movies proud ;)

yeah, You get points by fighting multipliers,finding hidden items or just by simply completing the missions..you use those points to upgrade batman's abilities and to learn new tricks and stuff like that :)

uncharted 2 - 70k, very diappointing right now.. but but but best graphics and most exclusives in 2009! The casual consumer seems not to care about "many many" exclusives.. cause there are houndrets of multiplatform titels every year on the superior xbox360 entertainment system with the award winning controller and xbox live starting at 199USD!
You have the choice.. 300 USD for the inferior hardware of the PS3 where 90% of these houndrets of titles look worse and all games have to be installed for 20 minutes (because of the last gen 2x BD drive)or take the xbox360 where you put in the discs and play your games!

Oh I agree. FPSs are popular aswell on PS3 (and I do own a couple of those you mentioned and do enjoy them), but they aren't that popular as compared to on 360. The preorders of MW2 in 360 and MW2 in PS3 show that. Maybe its just me that ain't that much interested in upcoming FPSs other than MAG...

And I don't know everything when it comes to sales, but I think that there are also games like Uncharted, GT:P, Motorstorm and LBP that did well in terms of sales and are very different genres.

Let me first apologize for serving you in about a few seconds here. If your logic is true, than PLEASE explain to me why Uncharted is at 59K units for pre-order? I mean, if people don't want to pay for an over-priced MW2, than shouldn't your consoles exclusive sky rocket? Oh, wait, other than the hardcore gamers on this site who own a PS3 and waste all day commenting in the 360 section, the average PS3 consumer does not purchase as many games as the 360 consumer. Take a look at the numbers here for a second. Modern Warfare 2 for the 360, top of the leaderboard here. The next highest, right under MW2 is Halo ODST, a 360 exclusive. Now take a look at MW2 for PS3, 200+K for it, and it's a multi-plat. Now, look at your exclusive that most of these SDF morons have been preaching sitting at 59K? That is terrible. SDF always talks about exclusives and yet this is how they get supported at 59K pre-orders?! Come on. That's America telling you no one really cares about exclusives, just playing good games. You add the PS3 games up on their and you don't come near ODST and MW2 combined. There is no way to spin it, games don't sell as well in North America for the PS3 as they do on the 360. Simple as that. Please, try and spin it, because I need a good laugh. MW2 has been hiked like $10 at most. $10 is not going to make a break the average consumer who is looking forward to this game.

Mw2 price is the only reason I can see why many ps3 fan thinking of boycotting i.e buying as used/ 2nd hand. As for the pre-order of UC2 was so low, is simply because Uncharted have never been a High pre-ordered game, or maybe Im wrong. But If you live in Europe the pre-order are pretty much different :P. Wow! I'm surprised that ODST has so many pre orders considering the lack of promotion for this game. I expect MW2 to sell over 1 million on day one. I think I'm going to pre order the Wii Mario game, it looks pretty sweet like the old Mario. I already pre-ordered ODST, Uncharted2 and operation flashpoint.

I fear for Uncharted2 while it will be a great game. Ps3 owners really don't step to the plate...and with MW2, Assassins Creed 2 which are 2 games with a larger following then Uncharted.

With inFamous and KZ2 doing only decent sales without any major titles being released around there launch. Don't expect much from Uncharted 2 sales wise with it being in between the big dogs.

Game wise it should be great.

I'm still afraid about Modern Warfare 2's Prestige edition in France.
We still can't pre-order it from Micromania (biggest french retailer,
subsidiary of GameStop), they don't even know if they will ever get it, while we can pre-order it in Game (second largest retailer in France) but you have to pay in advance.

And paying 170€ (245$ / 150£) in advance without being sure to get it makes my butt angry. And no other retailer (Fnac, Amazon, Alapage,...) permits to pre-order it for free. I've asked fourzerotwo and he wasn't aware of an exclusivity deal in France. So i'm anxiously waiting.
