I'm getting Demons Souls, R&C:ACiT, UC(1) and UC2 (I feel a bit guilty only PS3 owners get to play this awesome game :D, GOTY most probably). Batman:AA will be a post November purchase. Based on the article, it seems there was only one award SC Conviction could have won. Uncharted 2 won it instead. It doesn't mean that Conviction is a bad game, the panel just preferred Uncharted 2. Did SC Conviction have a presence at Gamescom? I haven't heard any news about it.

I think GOTY should go to KZ2. For it's been out most of the year. Where UnChart2 isn't even out and it's near Sept already. Both hit high in the graphic's department. Both are multi-player games. Yet KZ is known about, played daily and has put out map packs already. I guess on the bright side. Sony is really just competing with itself here, lol. I mean 2008 was MGS4 and LBP, 2009 could be KZ2 and UnCharted 2, 2010 will be GOW3 or MAG if the online becomes epic. I also think this pattern is here to stay. Having awesome graphics won't make KZ2 a GOTY game plus has too many short comings in SP/MP.

Although not as good looking as KZ2 but still visually impressive, UC2 has better controls(not laggy), characters, dialogue & storyline, level design, and fun solid MP.

UC2 will be GOTY because it's got everything so right from the very start - no need for constant updates like KZ2 has and still needs. It's virtually faultless.

I guarantee, the main complaints about UC2 will be its graphics aren't as good as expected - not as realistic looking as PC Crysis. But it'll still be one of the best looking games on a console. LMFAO.

We Canadians are get f*cked over big time. All of our games are starting to cost $70 CDN. They used to be $60(59.99). What really pisses me off is they even started pricing games that came out a while ago and were $60 they raised the price to $70. Assholes. $60 was okay to get a game. At 70 with taxes I'm close to $80 for a game. If that game only gives me 10 hours of good play I might not buy it at launch anymore. Modern Warfare 2 is a great example. I won't be playing online most likely(too many morons in FPS with mics). And you know their single player will be decent but short.

I used to be pissed about the game prices in canada too. Then i realized that the only reason the price goes up is because out dollar is weak. When our dollar is weak the price of gas goes WAY down.

Now i don't know about you, but i'd rather pay 15 dollars less every fill up then 10 dollars less everytime i buy a game. Notice how when the games were at 59.99 the gas was $1.00 - $1.30 across the country. Although, i guess if you don't drive this doesn't affect you.

Edit: I do agree with you about raising prices of already released games. An example of that is how Killzone 2 went from 59 to 69.

Very true. There are very few games out there this gen that are "awe-inspiring", but the majority of those have been on the PS3 lately. Grant it, there are well made game on the 360, no doubt about it. But games like MGS4 and Killzone 2 not only have gorgeous graphics, but the gameplay and overall experience is just awesome. Uncharted 2 looks no different, and I patiently await it in anticipation.

Here is the thing. Which game is "best" is a matter of preference. I personally played the demo and did not like it. Not my type of game.

Now, this is no a surprise since compare to many other games it didn't sell as many copies which clearly show that "best" is not the case for many people that rather play other games like COD and Fallout.

There are two sides on games that can be measured:

1. Sales
2. Reviews (average/Metacritic)

Thing is, nr. 1, sales are influenced by the marketing put in to sell a game. If it lacks marketing, a good game can sell little copies. Then a game could be sold badly, because people just don't know it is there or know too little about it to get into buying.

A single review doesn't say much. But when you gather 50 or 60 reviews, one can pretty much say that the average rating is close to what the game really is. Yes ofcourse, a review is full of opinion, so subjective instead of objective it can be called. On the other hand, specific parts of games can be measured and rated. Graphics, Sound, Durability, Story, you name it, much can be tagged by its quality and rated.

Psychonauts was a great game last gen. Sold sh!t though because of the lack of marketing.

That one is only right if everyone is informed well enough through marketing etc. The sales on the PS3 might also be lower because of BluRay PS3 users that don't play (so many) games. LittleBigPlanet deserves the 9.5 out of 10 average rating. Its one of the best games of this gen. If its better then a specific game thats close to it in its rating is another question. But for example a game that just got a 8 clearly differs itself from this masterpiece.

Uncharted 2 is just really, really good dude. Accept it from me, have been playing it on GamesCom and I'm not a big PS3 fan as you know overall because of Sony's wrong choices on several parts. But Uncharted 2 is the 2nd game after LBP that is worth buying a PS3 for. Period.

Played Uncharted 2 and yes, it'll be GOTY 2009 without a doubt. For next year I think that you have to account that for example Fable 3 had no gameplay footage to compete. Even Alan Wake wasn't shown in full force.

I agree its nice to hear some honesty, I know when you get into uncharted it takes you to the next level of immersion almost without you realising it because the pacing is so "perfect" and the gameplay is so well tuned its so fun to play.

and
1- it wasnt full priced
2- this demo gave us at least 100hours of game play
3- atleast we are not paying for a full priced DLC's
