Eurogamer: Wolfenstein Review

Eurogamer writes: "Can we appreciate games ironically yet? You know, like how people will say a film is "so bad, it's good", or how people (well, students mostly) will dance to a rubbish pop song, precisely because of its naffness.

That's the feeling that the 2009 model of Wolfenstein evokes. A belated series reboot, arriving the best part of a decade after the rather good 2001 Xbox outing, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, it's a wonky, glitchy and often idiotic game. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was neither an "xbox" game for it's release, and the Xbox port came out in 2003, not 2001. People wonder why gaming doesn't get any respect, but when you look at how major websites can't even do basic fact checking it's become pretty sad.

It got old tbh. Machine needed a break from the IP. Indie is a good reprieve.

Scheiße! Nein.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the best in the series. After that:
New Order
New Colossus
Old Blood

I really wish they'd remake Return to Castle Wolfenstein from the ground up. Easily the best of them all.

Speaking on Wassup Conversations, Matthies told the host that once MachineGames was founded, it didn't have enough money to hire a full development team and pitched around ideas for a while.
