At the recent Edinburgh Interactive Festival, Sony were on hand to demonstrate their anticipated title EyePet. Utilising the capabilities of the PS Eye, which follows on from such successful use within previous Playstation 3 titles EyeCreate and Eye of Judgement, this fantastic new title will provide players with the chance to bring both an innovative and vibrantly fresh pet simulation into their living rooms.
The team at The Lost Gamer were lucky enough to get a hands-on with the game and would like to thank Nicolas Doucet (the Producer of the game) and Jim Southworth (from Sony London) for their further discussions on the title. Both have been working on the title from its initial conception 2 years ago, and we're happy to say that the experience has left us with very positive impressions.
Rather than using a multitude of cards, EyePet makes use of just a single one – named the Magic Card. This directly relays into the game any movement that you make with it whilst in front of the camera, as well as activating a holographic menu interface by simply placing it within its vision. The successful use of this card will obviously rely on the camera being used within the correct conditions, therefore it is recommended that you will need to direct the camera towards either the floor or a flat open table space, as well as ensuring the room has sufficient light.

With all the great "hardcore" games coming out this year and next, one almost forgets about some of these more family friendly "casual" or "niche" games. My family and I are looking forward to this game. I personally can not wait to get my hands on AFRIKA as well. I may even have to use Play-Asia to order an underwater aquatic game (the exact title slips my mind). Great time to be a gamer no matter WHAT genre of gaming that you enjoy!! -Rip-Ridah
