Mario (I have played everyone except Galaxy because I don't own a Wii) is one of my favorite platform titles. Ratchet and Clank is my numero uno all time favorite!

Ratchet and Clank is more diverse in game play and story.
Capt Quark is always good for some laughs.

i totally agree that ratchet is one of the best platformers it deffinately got mario beat but for numero uno i think id have to giv that title to the jak and dexter series

mario beats the hell out of rachet, mario proves you don't need guns, or other gimmicks to make a fun platformer

R&C is an ACTION/platformer. Weapons are not gimmickry in R&C, they are essential part of its gameplay. Insomniac is regarded as the best in crazy weapons design. One of the PS2 R&C iterations, dont remember the name, Insomniac tried to make R&C a mostly action game, breaking the fine balance between platforming and action, it was good but everybody wanted the platforming back.

Anyways, I know I'm about to get flamed for this, but...I think R&C is a lil bit overrated. Maybe it's because I haven't really gotten into the series, so I guess I don't have that enlightened of a view on it. I just recently played Tools of Destruction (my first ratchet game) and it was fun, definitely, don't get me wrong. However, I think people talk it up a lil bit too much. I enjoyed the humor of it, but I wasn't THAT impressed with the game. Seems like a solid mid-80's score kinda game. Definitely enjoyable, but not the messiah of platformers like some lead on. And definitely not enough to dethrone a classic and icon like Mario I don't think.

I would like to add though. Some of those weapons are just awesome though.

Say what you will about Mario. SMG was good but R&C on the PS2 was still better than any Mario on the Wii/GC.

Was never on my radar until recently when i borrowed tools of destruction of my mate and absolutely loved it.
Id say its one of the best games this generation so far
and now im really looking forward to crack in time. :D

I know what you mean. My eyes weren't on this series until I bought R&C:ToD on a deal, and man did it got my attention. I've got R&C:ACiT pre-ordered a while ago and can't wait for it to be released.

Yeah Mario doesn't have much of a storty, but I think Mario as a certain charm that most games dont have. As for ratchet being a better platformer, I think it all boils down to your opinion. Personally, I think that Mario>R&C, but I love them both dearly.
