GV: Sports Resort Review

GV writes: "With over 45 million copies sold worldwide, the original Wii Sports redefined gaming. For the first time in years, both hardcore and new gamers could stand side to side, both enjoying an entirely new experience. With easy to pick-up controls and a focus on movement, Wii Stports brought many to gaming that never expected to pick up a controller, blurring the line between gamer and, well, everyone else. At E3 2008, Nintendo announced plans to invigorate the market yet again with Wii Sports Resort, this time adding a peripheral to the box: the Wii MotionPlus. With the Wii MotionPlus, Nintendo touted near 1:1 controls, delivering on the promise they made when the Wii was first unveiled. Is Wii Sports Resort worth getting excited about, or should gamers leave their hula shirts at home?"

Top 5 Games We’d Like to See Launch With Wii 2

Game Rant writes, "The Wii 2/Project Cafe/Nintendo Stream is coming and it will be shown as well as playable at E3. Awesome. The system itself is supposed to launch in 2012. Sweet. But what games are going to launch with it? Based on the recent 3DS launch, Nintendo has likely learned the importance of high profile titles on day one. Sure the 3DS is an impressive piece of hardware but, without great games to move the system, a lot of fans seem willing to sit on the sidelines until the must-have software comes out.

Why deal with that problem again for Nintendo’s upcoming home console? Why not launch it with great games on day one? With that in mind, check out our top 5 list of games we’d like to see launch with Nintendo’s next console."

a new nintendo game series. nintendo makes alot of money by using the same series on every platform. it makes them iconic but i still want an amazing nintendo game that isn't mario or zelda and i think it's about time

Valk4751d ago

Why? You'd just ignore them like you have the ones this generation and the last two before it also it seems.

Fora guy with a name like that you sure don't know much about them.

Cruel_Aib4752d ago

wtf top 5 game and no super smas bro fail

Venoxn4g4752d ago

COD?!?!? you are kiddin' , right? :)

sloth33954752d ago

nintendo hasnt said its a Wii 2 so i dont get why site keep calling it that

koh4752d ago

What would you call it?

ChickeyCantor4752d ago

Next-N...

Thats how i would call it.
I mean no one said N64-2 for gamecube, but then again Dolphin was the project name so people eventually started using that.

So why not call it Cafe?

koh4752d ago

Well N64-2 doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but Wii2 is just a convenient way to refer to a product with no set name yet. It makes it clear to anyone what you are talking about. If you call it Cafe in an article you probably will still need to explain why you are calling it that for people who have not heard that code name. Call it whatever you want, but as a journalist, it would probably just be simplest to stick with Wii2 until something more concrete emerges.

ChickeyCantor4752d ago (Edited 4752d ago )

But calling it Wii2 is assuming it will be called Wii2 since Wii is an actual product name.
(PsX -Ps2- PS3?)
Usually journalists introduce the system by saying:
"Nintendos next console: Project Cafe"

This makes more sense since Wii2 implies its a new Wii iteration. And it isn't. People associate Wii with the wii-mote( motion gaming) and the Cafe is suppose to bring new stuff( while keeping the old stuff). It already confuses people making them think its another Gamecube upgrade.

I would say that a journalist should refer to it as Cafe or Stream.
Cause even in interviews with Reggie they kept asking about "wii2", of course Reggie will say No.( cause he is fooling us by taking Wii2 literally )

koh4752d ago

I guess I'd just call it Nintendo's next generation console and have it be clear to everyone

Nintendo DS Becomes Europe's Best Selling Console, Wii Takes Fastest-Selling Record

As we start a new decade, Nintendo has announced that there are now over 40 million Nintendo DS and 20 million Wii consoles being played across Europe. In fact, the Nintendo DS family, including Nintendo DS Lite and the latest addition, Nintendo DSi, has not only sold more than any other videogame console in Europe but it has also seen the fastest growth in European video game console history, reaching this sales figure in less than 5 years.

for me, Nintendo is dead with the Wii! they were afraid to compete in the high end market like Sony and M$ thus came out with the Wii - overclocked GC with motion controller!

what else are there to be expected from them actually? after all the success, they came out with NSMB Wii? a rehashed Mario that we've played many years back just wit 3 more players and also available on DS! and they keep coming with non-gaming things like the vitality sensor! seriously, if you're in need for vitality check you need a doctor, not a Wii! RIP Nintendo in the grave of casualty!

Hisiru5235d ago

You are wrong man.

The gamecube was a competitor to the PS2 but the PS2 destroyed the gamecube, so Nintendo developed an answer to destroy the PS2 (Nintendo Wii), and that's why the Wii isn't as powerful as the other consoles today. Nintendo didn't know that we were going to see HD graphics, this situation is similar to Dreamcast x PS2.

Jamescagney5235d ago

They'd gone down that road before hadn't they, competing in the high end market. If they'd done it again they'd just be doing the same as their competitors and would probably be in third position like last time.

This time they've done something far different and have reaped the rewards, you have to face facts, at the moment they have the no1 selling console of this generation.

And while you and others don't like it, people do actually love gaming on them.

Obviously this isn't lost on MS and Sony because they're bringing out their own motion controllers now, following the leader I suppose.

Even if Wii does eventually bypass sales of PS2 across the whole entire world, I will never see it as a better system than PS2.

MajestieBeast5235d ago

In quality of games it cant surpass the ps2 thats for sure.

Renewman5235d ago

The Nintendo DS was a console. Anyways congrats. Now let's see some games for the Wii then we can start talking....

fm815235d ago

its a handheld gaming console you idiot..its not a cd player,i bet if its the psp thats breaking record,i bet you will not say that you dont know if psp a console, youll probly say good job psp n all the crap innit,ds is a handheld console n it also counts as a competitor to any gaming system out there like the wii,psp,ps3 n the 360..ds is a handheld console mate n its beating your psp.

Somnipotent5235d ago

exactly... the DS isn't a console... it's a portable handheld.

heroicjanitor5235d ago (Edited 5235d ago )

"These 9.6 million owners of the Wii Fit range are further evidence that people are enjoying getting fit in the comfort of their own home."

That statement makes very little sense, people are not getting fit using wii fit. They get it thinking it looks interesting and probably never use it again, but they certainly aren't exercising properly/regularly since it is just a game in essence.

Here is a similar statement:

"These owners of the Track and Field range are further evidence that people are enjoying sprinting in the comfort of their own home."

New Wii Bundle Arrives at Retail

The new Wii console bundle, originally revealed by Electronic Theatre last month, has now arrived at UK retail and is available for consumer purchase. The new bundle has not received a reduction in price as many had anticipated, but rather added in more value through additional hardware and software.

FinalomegaS5331d ago

so when will we see this type of bundle in North America

SuperStrokey11235331d ago

Id love this too but only if its at the lowered price. I have 0 interest in this bundle if its more than 199

Shnazzyone5331d ago

How come i have not heard about this highly logical bundle before today? Why is iut starting to feel like Nintendo is focusing more and more on the uk then The US lately>

TruthbeTold5331d ago

and the falling value of the dollar, I think Nintendo is more interested in getting consoles into homes for cheap rather than more expensive bundles. What that means to me is that as far as the U.S. is concerned, Nintendo probably plans to make most of their profit from software sales. They'll take a bit less profit-wise for now in order to do that I'm thinking.

U.S. leaders can go on and on about how the economy is recovering if they want. The unemployment rate is still on the rise, homes are still being lost, and prices for food and gas continue to rise over time. That means the average Joe at the least has to think twice before buying something non-essential like a video game console. It's all about value right now.

cheapndirty5331d ago

One only needs to google this months unemployent report to see that the US economy is still in trouble. Newsweek just has an article today. i am glad the wii went down in price. I have been wanting to get another one. On a side note, it is so funny that the Wii articles rarely have much traffic. But, the 360 and ps3 ones do.
