Nintendo DSi becomes platform for novice cartoonists - GAM reviews Flipnote Studio

Globe and Mail game columnist looks at, approves of, Flipnote Studio. From the review:

"It took less than ten minutes for me to create a 30-frame cartoon of a monster roaring using my voice (see above), and just a few minutes more to hop online and upload it to Flipnote Hatena, a community of budding animators who can view each others' work and comment on the animations they like. It even offers tools to let users post their animations to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Clearly, Flipnote won't be the source of the next Pixar picture (visit this site to check out the sort of cartoons being generated by the Hatena community), but it's a great playground for animation novices.

And did I mention that it's completely free?
