The controls are as responsive as ever, and the combined supermove and tactical mechanics make this version so much deeper than its predecessor. All of the little extras and secrets will overwhelm the SNK faithful with nostalgia. If there was ever a reminder of why The King of Fighters kicks ass, this is it.

Pure PlayStation: Fans of The King of Fighters are in for a treat this week as The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match is most likely set to release on PS4 within the next few days. This isn’t just us pulling info out of our bums; the game has been rated by PEGI for a release on PS4.
I'm happy and pissed at the same damn time. I bought the 99 Dream Match on DC (and this version on Steam about a year ago), and almost bought the PS2 version for $50+ off amazon. If it does release on the PS4, at least I can save $ and have two ways of making up new curse words in between matches.
