Blaze9295400d ago

----

Anyway almost forgot this game showed up at Comic Con. This is freakin epic and I can't wait to get my hands on this game. Visuals are amazing and this will surely be one hellavu game...no, experience.

Blaze9295400d ago

oh, -_-. Thought you meant the actual president.

sunnygrg5400d ago

Game looks like it will scare the sh!t out of me. I like it.

Obama5400d ago

I have a lot to say but I can't say anything in this zone :)

Mo0eY5400d ago

Way to not feed the troll, Obama.

masterg5400d ago

Looks really good.
Two things worry me.
1. The controls looks like it's going with the RS5 way of doing it. (cant run and shoot at the same time)
2. The flashlight gives an unrealistic low amount of light when outside.

kewlkat0075400d ago (Edited 5400d ago )

I'm sure there are other games you can throw in there.

". The flashlight gives an unrealistic low amount of light when outside."

Will that stop you from buying the game?...hehe Maybe it's some cheap fn flashlight or the batteries are weak or something, use your damn imagination.

Developers are not suppose to reveal all the little things, immerse yourself.

king dong35400d ago

day one for me. the graphics and lighting look amazing. it's been a long wait, but definately looking like the wait has been worth it.

Hellsvacancy5400d ago

But i didnt think it looked all that - just another Alone In The Dark game - which was pooh

die_fiend5400d ago

@masterg

1. The controls looks like it's going with the RS5 way of doing it. (cant run and shoot at the same time)
2. The flashlight gives an unrealistic low amount of light when outside.

1. Did you watch the video? You said it looks good so I assumed you did but with that comment it makes me wonder. Can't you see that's he's moving and shooting or are you that unobservant? At what point did you decide that it was like RE5?! Practically the whole video he's clearly aiming while moving, but you somehow didn't notice that.
2. The game's meant to be scary isn't it? Do you want him to carry around a giant spotlight so you can see everything? Y not just set the whole game during the daytime? Since you're troubled by obvious answers, it's that is would ruin the tension.

So like you said 'looks really good - I'll make 2 nonsensical remarks now'

lowcarb5400d ago

"But i didnt think it looked all that - just another Alone In The Dark game - which was pooh"

Looks much better than Alone in the dark to me and could possibly be the best looking game I've seen this gen on console.

GUNS N SWORDS5400d ago

alan wake's time switches from night to day, so it's not really "alone in the dark" :)

gaffyh5400d ago

Looks good, but the torch looks a little odd, the high-powered beam looks weird. They keep showing dark areas, I want to see the daylight bits.

I hope it's like Silent Hill 1, that was awesome.

FamilyGuy5400d ago

I didn't know Alan Wake was a Ghostbuster LOL

I really like the immersion, it really does a good job making you tense about the situation like who's about to pop out next. Psychological thriller seems like a perfect description.

The only thing from this video that bothered me was him getting full on hacked in the shoulder with an axe. He limps off as if it was.... I don't know, something that's not a fvcking axe! Axe hits should be more deadly than what it looked like here. Other than that I'd say that this game just sold me a 360. I love the lighting and the sparks flying and a dark setting, it makes for a fantastic looking contrast.

In case this article gets hot, I want to pose a question. Would it be possible for multi-disc games to be fully installed on a 360 hard drive and be played off a single disc for the entire time. Does there need to be disc swapping? If the problem lies in the fact that Microsoft hasn't released a cheap, large HDD, can't they do that now? That way, developers wouldn't be limited by the DVD-9 right? Or is this all about money? Can't Microsoft change their policy and allow the publishers to use the discs for free? How much does it cost them per disc, like 8 cents?

marc 19755400d ago

any thing is possible with the 360 mate :)

PS360PCROCKS5400d ago

No. Multi disc games will have to that DVD in the drive. You have to swap disc 1 for disc 2 and so on.

talltony5400d ago

"Would it be possible for multi-disc games to be fully installed on a 360 hard drive and be played off a single disc for the entire time. Does there need to be disc swapping?"

Yes their needs to be disk swapping because not every 360 comes with a hardrive and if you make a game that can only be played with a hard drive on 360 well then you are basically saying that anyone without a hard drive cannot play a certain game.

kaveti66165400d ago

Yes, I understand that Microsoft completely screwed it up with the hard drive situation, but what I was wondering was whether it would be possible to fully install a game on the drive if the drive was large enough. If it is, then Microsoft should come up with a much larger drive and start advertising it like crazy. Anyway, it really shouldn't matter if some people have hard drives and some people don't. The people who have harddrives should have the luxury of installing multi-disc games on the drive and playing off of one disc, while the people who bought a 360 without a drive will swap discs during play, unless they choose to go out and buy a drive. So, MS should make a 300GB drive and start marketing the crap out of it and sell it for 50 bucks and that will probably solve the DVD-9 limitation temporarily.

talltony5399d ago

ok so I see what your saying. You think microsoft should allow everyone to install mulitple disks of a game on one big microsoft hard drive. Well i dont think they will make a big enough hard drive for purchase that is affordable, I mean a 60 gig one costs like 100 bucks, imagine what 500gb would cost from microsoft.

Pity they are playing games with the PC announcement, as I was still rather eager to play this game. Oh well.

KingKionic 5400d ago

It`s coming Pc man .

It resides in Microsoft hands. Haven't we seen MS history ?

whothedog5400d ago (Edited 5400d ago )

They should release it on PC, a lot of wasted work if not

lol why my comment get deleted? @above

KingKionic 5400d ago

You see Microsoft gets a lot of hate for not having all games exclusives , but you notice when there are console only exclusives people get mad .

I say Microsoft should just make games for both Platforms . Ms shouldn't keep certain fans in the shadows .

mistajeff5400d ago

I definitely think they should have more 360 exclusives. My issue with the whole Alan Wake PC thing is that we all know from the tech demo that a PC version DOES exist, and that it's optimized for quad-core tech. I have no problem getting this for 360, but playing it on 360 while knowing that there's a graphically superior version out there that may not see the light of day is troubling, especially when I have a PC that's easily capable of outshining my 360 visually.

Again though, since I have both, I'd love to see more games developed ground-up for the 360 and designed to take advantage of the quirks of the console, rather than treating it like a PC. That's why this whole x-engine thing has me excited. But we all know Alan was built for the PC first.

SlumTheoRy5400d ago (Edited 5400d ago )

Actually, 360 was always the lead platform. Even if they showed nothing of the 360 version while they were demoing the PC version at IDF, Alan Wake was always suppose to be a console game. You also have to take into note that this is not a playable mission in the game. The E3 2009 demo was built specifically to show how the game runs and hows it plays.

mistajeff5400d ago (Edited 5400d ago )

But why all the flaunting of quad-core optimized tech if 360 was the main focus all along? It just seems weird that they would even have a PC build, somewhat playable 3 years ago at that, if their focus was always on the 360. I don't doubt that their focus was the 360, though, at least SINCE that tech demo, since MS has been the publisher for a long time. Regardless of what was meant to be the lead platform, we still know there's a PC version out there, even if it's still in the state it was for that demo way back when.

SlumTheoRy5400d ago

I can tell you right now, their is going to be a PC version of the game. I guess MS is just waiting to see how the game turns out before they do a port of Alan Wake.

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran822d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Tacoboto21d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia22d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger22d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie22d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos22d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie22d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh22d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
