PS3 Blu-ray diode only 8$ to produce by June

As this little blu-ray diode was the cause of PS3's delay, Sony should be proud of their accomplishment since this month it can now be massively produced and by June the cost will drop to 900 Yen or less than 8$US. Cost cutting is the key to make money fast out the PLAYSTATION3.

ah yes.. the public school system rears its ugly head.. its ok assass.. not everyone can do 5th grade math. They have dropped to 1/5 of their normal price, from 5000 yen to 1000 yen.. so originally they were 40 dollars each to produce. So that would be 600 to 568 dollars.. cmon now everyone.. say it with me.. Math is your friend. An education is a good thing.

Yeah it would. But Im sure they will drop around October anyway.
In the PS2 days they didnt drop price the first 1½ or so, but at that time they were the leaders on the marked.
$100 by Oct-Nov is my guess.

Better to eat the loss on the console and reap the benefits of more games sold.

If sony do continue to sell at there current price point..... would it anger you if they continued to reduce the price of manufacturing the ps3....yet never showed that price point to the consumers in lowering the RRP until they decide so... which could be 1-2 years time... because the more software they do bring out, and the further they exstend there online network... the more they can say the current price is justified.
So in a years time or sooner they will move to 65nano... mass produced blue diodoes, the graphics (rsx) could be potentially moved to 65nano too along with revised motherboards with constantly cheaper transistors, constantly being miniturised, look at the move from the original 360 to now Elite motherboard for proof.
So would you basically be annoyed if they hav seriously cut there manufacture costs. Yet havnt passed on that saving to you, the consumer??

What if they recoup costs.... yet DONT pass it on for a possible long period of time, saying there current price is justified to what software and free networking that they now offer. Along with potentially AAA games what should be around by then?

ps. I don't know where it said anything about the ps3 blu-ray diode. The ps3 DOES NOT use the cheapest diode...it actually uses one of the more expensive ones. Though they have dropped in price as well. What this $8 diode shows is that blu-ray players will go down in price.

That they were working on a cheaper way to produce them. It looks like allot of Sony fans are really waiting on that price drop. It will come sooner if you just go ahead and bite the bullet.
