EA: Don't rule out Boom Blox on other formats

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at London's recent Shine Week, Harvey Elliott, head of EA Bright Light studio based in Guildford, revealed that while he feels Boom Blox has really captured the spirit of what the Wii is about, we shouldn't rule out the franchise making an appearance on other platforms.

It would work well with the ps3 motion controllerm not too sure about natal. Wonder if there is going to be 3rd party support for the gametrak freedom?

Ugh... I hate "journalist" for this. He never said they've thought about putting it on other consoles, the interviewer purposely asked and they gave the generic response that it might, because in the future... it might.

Ugh, "journalism" nowadays.

I wonder how much it'd sell on the other consoles anyway considering the fact that it's a kiddy, family game and the "hardcore" gamers look down on it?

ReBurn5405d ago

A "hardcore" gamer would never look down on addictive and fun gameplay, and when it comes to the multiplayer aspect the game can be tons of fun. Admittedly the story is lame, but still...

ReBurn5405d ago

I'll tell you what...I've been up late at night worrying that Boom Blox won't be on other platforms! You have no idea how this puts my mind at ease.

Look at it like this:

hardcore gamers do buy more casual games, so it'll probably sell good. On the other hand, nongamers don't buy hardcore games (we've seen it with Madworld and recently The Conduit on the Wii).

Not to forget that the 360 locked the hardcore gamer and with Natal goes after the casual market. Nintendo ATM ownes the casual/nongamer market, but won't be able to get the hardcore gamer back again, at least not this gen and seen their strategy never again.

Thus: 360 can get gamers from the Nintendo target group with games like Boom Blox, but Nintendo isn't able to steal thunder on 360's targetgroup.

Get it, got it?!

plus:

"EA: Don't rule out Boom Blox on other formats"

compared to

"He never said they've thought about putting it on other consoles, the interviewer purposely asked and they gave the generic response that it might, because in the future... it might. "

Thats pretty much the same there. It might come to other consoles in the future, so you can't rule out Boom Blox on other formats.

Isn't so hard to understand now, is it? Nintendo fanboy much, right?

SpoonyRedMage5404d ago

Seen their strategy? Because obviously Metroid: Other M is targetted at the nongamers right? as is the new Zelda, 2 new Marios, Sin and Punishment 2?

Also I'm on about the fact that they're implying EA is talking about putting it on other systems which they aren't. It never would have come up if the journalist hadn't asked.

Get it, prick?

TheMART5404d ago

Ah Metroid, another rehashed IP. Nice... More Zelda's, Mario's, more rehashed stuff...

You can understand that because Nintendo with the Wii got the nongamers 50 to 60 million to buy it that the Wii doesn't have hardcore gamers that buy great hardcore games as just pointed out, Madworld, The Conduit...

The Wii has locked itself on the morons, those that can't use a normal controller. The 360 has the hardcore gamers (30 mln. of them) locked and now widens its targetgroup with the casuals, so it'll sell as well as hardcore games as well as the casual ones.

You understand, tard?

SpoonyRedMage5404d ago

Alright them, nob, how about Monado, Line Attack Heroes, Captain Rainbow, Disaster: Day of Crisis?

May be it's because of idiots like you who continue to spew the same "shiat" instead of actually trying to convince people to buy the fecking games. You said you have a Wii, Madworld and think it's one of the best hardcore games on it. Why not tell people about the game, tell them to buy it? instead of continually going on about the fact that it didn't all too well, even though it sold nearly the same amount in it's first month that it's predecessor Godhand did in a life time when Godhand was on the PS2 with a userbase of 120 Million and apparently they were hardcore gamers? No?

What about the Conduit as well? People like you have been hating on it for over a year and convincing people not to buy it by hating on it? It's also got a feck load of garbage reviews which will put a lot of people off? Bionic Commando didn't sell on the PS3 or 360, you know why? They were told it was crap, the same with the Conduit and yet the Conduit has so far sold better.

Do you really think all those 30 million are hardcore gamers? and none of them are repeat buyers due to the RROD and E74? Also how many are going to buy a 360 and a pricey add on for motion controls when they can just get a Wii?

Oh and why don't you come up with something new to say instead of "Wii owners only buy donkey shiat" in every Wii article? or would that require a working brain?

...and whilst you're busy masturbating over the 360's game sales and how Natal is going to destroy the Wii I'll be doing something constructive with life or may be even actually enjoying hardcore games!

Cya.

TheMART5404d ago

"how about Monado, Line Attack Heroes, Captain Rainbow, Disaster: Day of Crisis? "

Can't find those in Metacritic, so probably they're not out then. What do you want to say about them? You can't check average review score, nor the sales. You want me to say if they're rubbish or if they will sell well? Disaster: Day of Crisis? 6.9 out of 10 Metarcritic? Wut? You are talking about mediocre games here?

Well first off, the Wii only doing 480p with supercharged Gamecube hardware: everything looks rubbish on that resolution. Man, my XBOX 1 already even did 720p on some games, let alone it could output all video in my modded one with Media Center on it. That was in 2001 to 2004. We're in 2009 now and what everyone with a Wii got is getting shafted.

Second, its just a fact that there are no hardcore gamers on the Wii. Sales proof it over and over again. And the best thing Nintendo fanboys have to bring is: "COD WAW sold 1 million copies!". If thats the best selling 'hardcore' game then go stand in a corner and cry. Because:

1. One million selling on a 50 to 60 mln. installed userbase is PATHETIC

2. COD is a wellknow franchise, it should sell a lot, only on its name. My granny would even buy it just because she heard about it.

3. Games get profitable after 1 to 1.5 mln. of sales. Its that pathetic.

Nintendo chose to target the nongamers that can't use controllers to sell the Wii to first. That made their installed base made of morons, the nongamers. Thats why they manage to sell last gen gamecubehardware for a premium price. Those morons don't even know what they're buying. They can't ever get the hardcore gamer back like that. They might with a Wii HD version and great hardcore game support from start. This gen is lost, doesn't matter what kind of 'hardcore' games they will release from now on.

"May be it's because of idiots like you who continue to spew the same "shiat" instead of actually trying to convince people to buy the fecking games."

Well I bought the Wii mainly for running all of my gameconsoles, softmodded that is, by emulators. Madworld and House of the Death: Overkill are extra's, like little snacks.

Heck, I even don't dare to convince people to buy that last gen supercharged Gamecube, because IT AIN'T WORTH IT if you can hold a real controller. I only advice it to real young kiddies that like to jump and act like morons. Why would I convince people into buying that old hardware for that price if you can get a better deal on a HD console like the 360 thats even cheaper then the Wii? SO it isn't logical to promote its hardcore games even. I convince people that want real games to buy a 360, or maybe even a PS3.

"What about the Conduit as well? People like you have been hating on it for over a year and convincing people not to buy it by hating on it?"

Wrong again. I haven't been saying much about The Conduit before it was out. But I had my doubts as the dev said it would be 360/PS3 kind of quality in graphics and gameplay in the FPS genre. Don't make that kind of statements if you don't deliver. Seen the score average of 7.0 on Metacritic it is very, very mediocre. Don't compare that piece of donkeyshiat with Bionic Commando that got a 8.7 please. You compare one game, that might not have had its marketing done, might just release wronly or whatever. Go look at the total amount of games and how they sell on a lower installed base (PS3 even though selling a bit less then the 360 still with 22 million users doing better on for example COD WAW).

"Do you really think all those 30 million are hardcore gamers? and none of them are repeat buyers due to the RROD and E74? Also how many are going to buy a 360 and a pricey add on for motion controls when they can just get a Wii?"

You brains are like the Wii. Last gen upgraded.

many of those 30 million are hardcore gamers indeed. If Halo 3 sells what, 9 or 10 million copies, Gears of War sells 6 million, COD4 sells what, 7 million.

Repeat buyers? Not much. Untill the beginning of this year it was covered by the 3 years warranty. So if there are any, it won't be millions, more like thousands since the last 6 months.

Pricy add-on? You gotta give me the link to were the price of Natal is given. They might just put it with the 360 when it launches for free, just to promote the thing. They leave the normal controller out of the package and win back there. Natal might launch seperately for 49 Euro, the price of about one controller and you'll be able to play with 4 players. Go buy 3 x Wiimote with a nunchuck now, what will you have to invest? 180 Euro?

"Oh and why don't you come up with something new to say instead of "Wii owners only buy donkey shiat" in every Wii article? or would that require a working brain?"

A gamer only needs a working brain to chose a 360 or PS3 over the Wii, thats all. Actually I am stating the obvious facts. Wii owners only buy donkey shiat, confirmed in the salescharts. The great hardcore games don't sell, confirmed. Whats on top of the saleslist constantly?

Does that get through that thick skull of yours, that I am just stating the facts??? WII OWNERS BUY DONKEY SHIAT, PERIOD. PROOF ABOVE
If there are some alright games, those mostly are rehashed old stuff. Like Punch-Out for example. 20 Year old game. I even have the original overhere. Its about the same. Thats pretty pathetic again.

"and whilst you're busy masturbating over the 360's game sales and how Natal is going to destroy the Wii I'll be doing something constructive with life or may be even actually enjoying hardcore games!"

You just need to get real and see that I am right and you're just a dissillusional Wii fandroid. Proof is above. And every point you bring in is emotional stuff. Get your d!ck out of your Wii slot.

The World of Goo guy *really* liked Cave Story!

deantak4390d ago

That's a great list of pros.

frequentcontributor4390d ago

There's so many great games on Wii that get overlooked, and then gamers complain about no new games... How about A Boy and His Blob, Sin and Punishment 2, Madworld, Lost in Shadow, Lit, Dead Space Extraction, Fragile Dreams, No More Heroes 1 and 2, the Res Evil Chronicles games, Sakura Wars, Lost Winds, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Epic Mickey, de Blob, the Bit.Trip games... That's totally ignoring any first party titles, and I'm probably forgetting a bunch. With La Mulana and Retro City Rampage and Last Story coming out, the Wii has been a lot of fun!

Infernostew4390d ago

Zack & Wiki takes my pick. Really hope Capcom would do a sequel. Wishful thinking at best.

Jirachi4390d ago

I did play some of these games:Cave story,Boom blox(didn't really like it)Fire emblem,Wario Land shake(see boom blox),&Excite truck
