Xbox Live update detailed: Games on Demand, Netflix queue/Movie Party, and more

Microsoft just dropped some details on the upcoming Xbox Live Dashboard update which begins rolling out later this summer – first, and perhaps most notably, we'll hit what's not in this update; Facebook, Twitter, and Last.fm support, along with Zune video and 1080p Instant On video.

Yes it`s awesome

Gold Member Veterans – Xbox LIVE Gold members get to show it off with a stamp on your Gamer Card that tells people how long you've been a Gold member.
Indie Games – Xbox LIVE Community Games has been renamed Xbox LIVE Indie Games. We feel this new name better represents the independent spirit of these titles.
Achievement Browser – We've revamped the Achievements browser so it's now easier to read through all the achievements while playing a game. You can now also launch a game directly from the browser.
Achievements Tracking – A new view inside the profile panel which includes a summary of Achievements earned across all the games played, and shows of all your completed games.
Streamlined Navigation - Streamlined navigation, including new entry points in the dashboard for Active Downloads, redeeming codes, recovering Gamertags and more.
Voice Messages – No more blank voice messages! When recording a voice message, a warning will pop up if no audio is detected.
Friends List Sorting – It's now easier to find your friends! Find and sort your friends by activity, Gamertag or online status by pressing the Y button while viewing the friends list in the Guide.
Memory – Time stamps now appear in the memory area, which particular handy when managing saved games.

Xbox Live keeps getting better and better, I can't imagine how good it will be in 2-3 years from now.

This is literally amazing! I can't believe all the features they're adding in this update. I dont know if anyone noticed or not, but the download speeds seem faster also. I downloaded a 60mb file in less than 10 seconds the other day.

I don't understand the people that complain that you have to pay for LIVE. It is so cheap. At full price, it's less than the price of a game ONCE a year. And look at all the support and stuff that you get with it.

I only paid $28 for my yearly subscription to LIVE, and it was well worth the $2 and change a month. I spend more on Q tips every month, lol.

I dont think that will work for those that have renewed using pre paid codes cos when i check it says i only been a member since my last pre pay card. However I know if you renew automatically it retains how long you been a member for.

I could be very wrong though.

especially the Netflix Queue.

I also like the way the Games on Demand are linked to your live account. I suppose that is the finger to Gamestop.

Cant wait for that. So the update comes out this summer nice...

The following features will be coming in future Xbox LIVE updates, which we'll be sure to let you know about.

Facebook
Twitter
Zune video and 1080p Instant On
Last.fm

fall.....

edhe5422d ago

yes, any improvement to the service is a failure.

Since Games on demand is august then this update will be coming soon.

Further genuine features adding over time this year i'll certainly look forward to.

Just wish 1vs100 would start later..

Christopher5422d ago

Might want to reread that last word. It's FALL, not FAIL. As in the updates will be coming this FALL.

mrblacknut5423d ago

I am looking forward to this update. Wow

coolirisGB5423d ago (Edited 5423d ago )

Two more updates this year? this one at the end of summer and the one promised at E3 in fall?

KingKionic 5423d ago

Oh yeah...

mmm...delicious.

Microsoft has to stop this spoiling.

Some pretty good content here, only thing would it be bad if I asked/demand "The Longest Journey" on XBL (I mean it's on steam and in a package) but if they did the same for XBL I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I feel like I should play the longest Journey before playing Dreamfall..

The game looks too clean without it.

How about you actually SHOW wtf you're talking about

Nacho_Z2d ago

Always annoying when articles do that.

I agree with them that the tv show was a bit on the clean side. They got loads right regarding set design etc but there's room for improvement.

i dont. it hurts my eyes. but im fairly ssensitive when it comes to that sort of stuff.
