Reasons To Buy A PSPgo

The Sixth Axis writes: "A couple of weeks ago I gave you 10 reasons not to buy a PSPgo. I thought they were all valid though some were more subjective than others. At the time I said that I would follow it up with 10 reasons to buy a PSPgo. I have to admit that I have not been able to come up with ten reasons that make sense but after a late night viewing of Donnie Darko to get myself into a suitably twisted mental state where I can try and justify spending a Frank-ly ridiculous amount of money on a new iteration of the PSP hardware I do have five reasons for you.

It is my personal belief that Sony are simply testing the digital-only waters with the PSPgo in preparation for launching a digital-only PSP2, perhaps as soon as October 2010. That we might see the PSP2 as soon as next year is pure speculation on my part but I am more certain that the PSPgo is the last-hurrah for the PSP. Maybe we will know more after Cologne but even being able to jump forward 28 days 6 hours 42 minutes and 12 seconds would not get me to GDC/Gamescom so we will just have to wait."

nice article.
i hate UMD. it really pain my ass!!!!

another reason buy PSPGO:
M$ has no own handheld game console. LOL

tmt3455406d ago

Why?

Same battery life

I can get used UMD's for dirt cheap and trade/sell mine

Bigger screen

and its probably going to take more than half a year to crack the PSPgo because its going to have new hardware AND the 5.51 software. You need to have firmware 5.03 to get all the good stuff like PSX and homebrew, 5.51 hasn't been exploited and its getting harder and harder for the firmware to get exploited so it may not happen (it will be past 5.51 by october). I can play thousands of games with the cracked firmware!

I'm not paying $250 bucks for bluetooth!

I can get a 16 gb memory stick

heroicjanitor5406d ago

Since it is smaller, lighter, has a slider, and has bluetooth for headsets.

gamesR4fun5406d ago (Edited 5406d ago )

"In fact by equipping yourself with a video out lead for your PSPgo you could actually connect it up to your TV and pretend you have a PS3 Slim. Of course by the time October gets here and if the rumours prove true, instead of spending £230 on a PSPgo, £35 on a DS3 and say £20 on a video out lead for a grand total of £285, you may well be able to buy yourself an actual PS3 Slim which will come complete with leads and a controller for less than that."

not that the article wasnt riddle with it but wth is this bs about?
Sure the psp is a lot more expensive than it should b imo 2 but wth is the ps3 gotta do with it n the slim when it comes wont b 299 imho
You know when your apologies are just veiled attacks you have issues. Just get over it yur wifes not cumin back when sonys packing that big black ps3.

table5406d ago

Clearly the guy has issues with the PSPgo and not sony. The article only ever talked down the PSPgo, infact possibly complimenting sony on a cheaper slimline ps3.

meepmoopmeep5406d ago

i don't use CFW

$250 is too much for me.
i'll wait until it's under $200.

f7897905406d ago

If you don't use custom firmware your oblivious to what it can offer. The best feature is ripping your games to your memory stick which destroys a major buying point of the PSPgo for people who have custom firmware.

NewYork2145406d ago

im waiting til next E3 to buy the PSP GO they announced a new PSP each year for the last 3 years.PSP 2000,3000,and now the GO

shaneTsung5406d ago (Edited 5406d ago )

one analog stick = shove it up ur ass sony...psp go is the third terd to drop out of sonys a ss...long time sony product buyer whos had enough of the bull shhhh. make another one with 2 sticks + touch screen an then let me know..till then fuc off

Milky5406d ago

Just because the psp only has one analogue stick doesn't mean it doesn't have amazing games. For example God of War and resistance: retribution control great regardless.

This year is the PSP's year:

Resistance: retribution
Locoroco 2
littleBIGPlanet
Motorstorm: arctic edge
Gran Turismo
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona
GTA: chinatown wars
Jak and Daxter: lost frontier
Assassins Creed
Socom: Fireteam Bravo 3
Tekken 6 and Soul Caliber
Ushiro
Invizimals.

f7897905406d ago

I don't see a need. All I care about are two analog sticks and PS2 emulation on the PSP2.

I would kill to have a Way of the Samurai game with a huge budget and modern tech... The first game was one of my greatest joys on PS2 back in the day. And I really hope From Software will do something with Tenchu... I hate that they're just sitting on the IP like it doesn't even exist.

Relientk7718d ago

Don't play with my feelings like that.

Also, new Tenchu please!

TheColbertinator17d ago

Tenchu would be superb in this day and age. Ninja and samurai games are hot right now and more is better.

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5221d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens5220d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK212120d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

MrNinosan20d ago

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens5220d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens5220d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos21d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani20d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum21d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman21d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim21d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

I disagree Batman

It's insane its been this long since the last release.

CrimsonWing6923d ago

Not from you.

Knowing how you handled FF16 by trying to make it appeal to non-fans and changing the entire gameplay design I can see you changing Tactics to appeal to non-fans.

If they’re going to do this please give it to someone who wants to keep the game and genre in tact.

VersusDMC22d ago

He worked on tactics ogre reborn. Was there changes? He wouldn't make an FF tactics game an action game. It will be AA but faithful. Probably what the Diofield Chronicles team and some of the FFXVI team is probably working on already and he is just keeping a secret.

And FF hasn't had a set gameplay design since X. I disliked the MMO, 12, 13 FF's but didn't mald for years. I played other games. Stop crying as he probably won't make a single player FF again and will be busy with the next FF MMO.

EternalTitan22d ago

I can feel your hatred. Keep it up.

Ataraxias22d ago

Tactics Ogre Reborn was an overall solid product but almost eliminated the concept of builds in the game.
So we'd probably end up with a system where character jobs like Mercenary for Ramza is 80% of the character instead of being freeform.

SegaSaturn66922d ago

Tactics Ogre Reborn changed a lot of gameplay mechanics for the worse. The class system is weird and hard to lock in roles, and they shoehorned a new "random card appearing" mechanic on the maps which makes no sense. Previously you obtained those boosts from killing powerful opponents, not spawning randomly.

There's a way better way to play Tactics Ogre: the fanmade onevision mod of the psp version.

EternalTitan22d ago

16 was just a terrible mess.
Its not even a JRPG let alone a final fantasy game.
Yosi piss(who said he hates JRPGs) should not touch another Final Fantasy game ever again.

VersusDMC22d ago

87 metacritic can't be a terrible mess.
If Kingdom Hearts is a JRPG then FFXVI is a JRPG. And he said he hates the term JRPG as it carries a bad stereotype with western journalists.

So you're just incorrect on several fronts...

Asterphoenix22d ago

I wouldn't mind a new FF Tactics longs they keep the tactical elements of Tactics in it as well as a very in depth story. Which FF Tactics years ago has by far one of the best stories in the series.

Tapani22d ago

Yes, alongside with Vagrant Story. Playing FFT, then Vagrant story and finally FFXII is a bliss. Deepest lore and best stories ever made in video games.
