RUMOR: Way of the Samurai 3 on PS3

Once the near year rolled around, the game was ported to the XBox 360, and in February, UFO Interactive announced it would be publishing the game in the North America. The kicker? UFO, a relatively small publisher, is only licensed to put out games for the XBox 360, which indicated the game would be an XBox 360 exclusive in the US.

If you're one of the 7 samurai eagerly following this title, take a deep breath and relax. It appears the game will be making it's way to North American PS3 owners as well.

In japan it first was a PS3 exclusive, however, months after that, it got announced for 360 aswell.

And when it got announced that i went to North America, it was only the 360 version that got mentioned.

Sony obviously paid them so MS loses exclusivity. They always do this.

I don't think many people will even buy this game anyway. But nice to see that fans of the game can enjoy it on either console now.

they have improved a lot since.

...to those that don't dig deep enough. It's a reward series with a nice variation on the "Choose Your Own Adventure" series. It's nice to be able to finish a game in 5 minutes, or 5 hours depending on the choices one makes.

Samurai Western was a wonderful diversion as well and the series, as a whole, remains one of my favorite Samurai epics!

thank god, i was pretty pissed when the game was announced as 360 exclusive in the US. i know the games aren't perfect, they are very unpolished, but they still offer an experience that cant be found else where.

I was thinking the same thing, but I did some digging and here is the evidence I've come up with. It's pretty compelling, and I suppose we can expect to hear an official announcement of the PS3 release by the end of the month.

First, I discovered that AgeTec is a licensed PS3 publisher, and on their website they have a Playstation 3 games tab, but they have no games listed yet (presumably because they have not made the official announcement for Way of the Samurai 3 yet).

Second, I saw this listing at GameFly:

Finally, and most interestingly, GameFAQs commenter MJohnson04 said on the board for the PS3 version of the game:

"Agetec releasing the PS3 is correct...
It just hasn't been officially announced yet."

He is a confirmed producer at AgeTec.

The apparent sources are a GameFly listing for the PS3 version, complete with AgeTec listed as the publisher, and a post on GameFAQs from a known-employee of AgeTec's that confirms they're doing the PS3 version for America. it was campy, and the combat was fun.

being a child of the 80s, i loved Choose Your Own Adventure books, so Way of the Samurai's choose your own adventure style was great.

the funniest choice to me is that in the beginning of the game, your character walks into the town. if you want, you can choose to walk back out of the town, and it will end the game! it even has a narrative saying something about how your character didn't bother to get involved with the town or something. i though that was really funny.

i've played through the game multiple times, and was surprised at how many different outcomes i came out with.

i've beaten the game in 2 hours, i've beaten the game in 5 or more. it really does depend on how you play it.

i'm actually looking forward to part 3, even though it's low on my games list this year.

Well I work at EB and we've had it available for Pre-order on the PS3 for 3 weeks now. Didn't know this was news otherwise I would have posted it.
