Indie Queue: Hats Off To Fez at The Escapist

Escapist columnist Nathan Meunier interviews Phil Fish and the gang at Polytron about their upcoming mind-warping platforming, Fez.

Nathan Meunier says: "Landing a steady paying job as part of the development team at a major publisher is a dream come true for many budding young game designers. For Phil Fish, the unexpected and unpleasant reality of the situation he found himself in - working for a large studio as an anonymous drone amongst hundreds of others in an impersonal, sweatshop-like environment - made him momentarily question his choice of careers. However, far from crushing his spirit, the hellish personal experience actually fortified his resolve. Fish didn't give up; he went indie. And much like the red hat-toting protagonist in Fez, he's discovering there's another whole other dimension to be found hidden within a seemingly two-dimensional world."

Review - Fez (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Leo Faria: "In short, Fez is as good now as it has always been. The reason I call this version the best way to experience this indie game is mostly due to the perfect combination of the Switch’s portability and its screen being much larger than the Vita’s. This is easily one of the best indies ever made, and one of the most important games of the past decade. Even though a lot of younger players only know it due to its troubled development cycle and some post-launch controversies, Switch owners should definitely pick this game up. This gem took an eternity to arrive on the system, but it feels right at home on it."
