Kingdom Hearts series could land on Wii

Much like the GTA franchise, Kingdom Hearts titles have launched on both the Game Boy Advance and DS, yet there has never been a release for a Nintendo console. But perhaps that could change in the future.

It makes sense for the game to come to Wii, not so much on the 360. In fact I've been expecting the game to be Wii exclusive or at least Multiplat, it would surprise me if the game is exclusive to PS3 or 360 now.

I just heard from same one that sony is saying they did a survey and found that most PS3 owners where 18-35 years old. Now who is suppose to buy kingdom hearts out of that group? I also know lots of gamers on the HD console hate cartoony looking games just by looking at the sales of such games.

So I don't really see why they would get mad? Plus with the PS3 being so expensive I don't see too many kids or girls buying it. I know this is the first game that my girl friend liked that was an RPG. I mean the girls that bough wii fit will buy this game also. The guys who actualy like console games will get this also and the guys who just want uncharted will ignore it.

This is too hilarious. Whenever a major series hits the Wii instead of the 360 or the PS3, 360 and PS3 owners kick up a fuss, saying how the series is dead or act jealous and call the Wii crap or something. The worst is "oh man that's awful I hate the Wii." Why would you hate a console that's getting good games? I can understand disliking a console for its lack of games, but don't most, y'know, GAMERS enjoy consoles with games? It's really stupid to hate a console because of what it is, does, or looks like. It would be a bad idea for SE as I'm pretty sure many who enjoyed the Kingdom Heart series have a PS3 or likely to purchase a PS3. Then again, this won't the first time SE made bad choices. I enjoyed the Kingdom Heart series a lot and been dying for Birth by Sleep but not enough to buy a Wii for KH3.

We probably won't hear anything about KH3 till Birth by Sleep is done which probably won't be done till after FF Vs. XIII.

The Kingdom Hearts Series sell best in Japan, hence why all the previous games come out in Japan first as the PS3 sells better there. Somehow though i doubt this will be an exclusive, i mean what can be done on the PS3 that makes it more enjoyable apart from the graphics? Leave the gameplay the same, give us another mindblowing story :). I think it would be PS3 and Wii i cant see it coming out to 360 because one of the older games would have been ported by now.

Kingdom Hearts 1 sold 3.5 million in USA and just 1.2 million in Japan. With Kingdom Hearts figures are 2 million in USA and just over 1 million in Japan. So Kingdom Hearts is actually much bigger in USA than it is in Japan. It is only released first in Japan because it is developed there.

I can see it being a PS3 exclusive mainly because Noruma is a PS fanboy. Aside from that, it's hard to compare last gen to this gen since the PS2 dominated. From what I've personally witnessed, many PS2 owners switched to PS3 or willing to purchase the PS3 over the 360.

So while it may have done well in the NA last gen, the 360 JRPG sale definitely indicates that many of the JRPG fans on the 360 are closer to nonexistent than to 2 million. I could be wrong but I think it's best to wait for FFXIII to better determine that.

Its one thing if it game out on the 360 and the ps3, but releasing it on the Wii and the PS3 is in my opinion a bad decision. Yes they may make money, but the quality of the games will suffer greatly due to the differences in the platforms. It will end up like those movie games where they release a game on every system. They need to make it for only one system, not both.

I think Kingdom Hearts belongs on the Wii, at least for now. I think a large audience that would appreciate the game could be found on the Wii. The Disney license coupled with the Wii base could introduce a lot of new people into the RPG fold.

No, I'm sorry, but I disagree. The Wii has shown the audience doesn't appreciate core gaming experiences.

Believe it or not, Kingdom Hearts wasn't a casual title, it was actually a very respectable Action RPG, and definitely aimed at the core market, even with the Disney characters.

I own a Wii, and consistently purchase the core offerings, but seriously, it's obvious that for the most part, a lot of the Wii's audience simply aren't interested in titles that cater to the core.

I think it belongs on either PS2, or at the very least, multi platform on PS3 and 360.

Those systems have a strong core following, and with the latter, they'd have a lot of technical power to push the game forward, considering Action RPGs benefit greatly from increased power.

Yeah, well a lot of the Wii's audience are children and women, and I have a suspicion that this audience has a lot of interest in Disney franchises. They may not be interested in core RPG experiences like Final Fantasy or Tales of ... games but that's because they aren't familiar with the concepts, the franchises, etc. If you throw in something they have a vested interested in, like the Disney characters, a lot of them will check it out and discover that they can enjoy that core gameplay experience. I never said that Kingdom Hearts was not a core gameplay experience. A lot of Wii owners are not interested in core games because of their subject matter and the fact that they're not familiar with the concepts underlying the gameplay, so they stick with the casual experiences. But if you introduce them to a core game with an incentive to be interested, like their beloved Disney characters, they'll check it out and discover that Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Wii Fit aren't the only ways they can enjoy their Wii.

And a lot of people here on this site forget that a lot of core gamers DO own a Wii. There's really nothing wrong with putting Kingdom Hearts on Wii instead of the PS3 / 360.

"Core gamers" seem to have a lot of bias against the Wii, but if I was Square-Enix the first console I would look at if I was going to be starting a new Kingdom Hearts would be the Wii. The core will find your game their, and the Disney license would be put to great use with the audience on the Wii.

What a lot of people don't realise about the Wii as well is that developers are now looking to get a hold of the mature market on the console. Mature games may not have not have sold as well as on the PS360 but that makes publishers want to be the first to do that which is why we're still seeing mature titles coming out for the Wii(as well as low dev costs and other stuff).

Many might disregard the Kingdom Hearts franchise because of its Disney roots, but it is those roots that make these games so enjoyable along with the great gameplay. Everyone has seen many of those movies sometime in their lives and it is really cool to see how they are able to recreate each along with infusing many popular characters from the Final Fantasy series into them. Because there are already several games from this series out, people know the quality of these games are really good whether they will be on the Wii, PS3, or 360.

Arius mate! Yopu're being just as bad with your misinformation. Discount Haze, for a start, it failiong had NOTHING to do with PS3 or even dev costs but politics which left it a PS3 exclusive and then without middleware for physics and other things which were then rushed through in-hoise. Facvt is the game was better a year before release.

As for Lair-yes, it flopped but only because of the overamnitious reliance on Sixaxis-had another control scheme been available(which the devs really should have done and it's THEIR fault and noone elses that they didn't)it would have been pretty good.

Plus LOADS of devs/pubs say PS3 or 360 are their leading money makers and as for third parties making cash with good core games on the Wii? Madworld and HotD Overkill , among others, say hi! MH3 is even a bit of a risk given it'll be pay to play online and Wii Connect hasn't shone as of yet which has left Capcom with lots of work to do themselves-though with the Japanese fanbase and cash thrown at the game it should be ok.

Thing is KH3 would do very well on either PS3 OR Wii, though obviously would look way better on Sony's platform so I don't really care which it lands on even if I do feel it might sell better on PS3 given recent salkes for core third party games on Wii. Saying that it would sell ok on 360 in the US and be a big coup for MS(we'll have to see though as if Nomura's in charge MS seems less likely)as well!

So long as the game comes and it's good we really shouldn't care I guess but there's reasons in both directions why it should/shouldn't be on a particular console.

GTA 4 was definnitively better than 3(people keep comparing it to San Andreas .-. GTA4 is a sequel to GTA3), DMC4 and RE5 weren't made by the same guys who made the other games. Please spare me that ill fated logic. No company has gone ut of business due to a Wii game flopping. Wii sells the most third party software inspite of the fact that it has largely missed out on the big third party franchises. You wanna talk risk, as Factor 5 how that risk panned out.

As for biggest money makers, Activision sees most console profits from the Wii. EA shifted support to the Wii because of games that underperformed, you know like dead space, for one. Take two despite the good sales of GTA4 was still seeing the bleeding.

HD consoles give higher revenue but not ROI. Why do you think activision is considering dropping support for Sony? Why are HD consoles lacking exclusives?

MH3 was a risk on PS3 which is why it isn't there anymore. Simple as that. Kingdom Hearts will follow suit with DQX. Square is in need of profts right now, because the horse they bet heavily on is nearly 3 yrs old and barely outsold the Gamecube.

FRD didn't go bust because of Sony or PS3 just get your head round that-they were just unfortunate and the dropping of the 360 version and subsequent moving of all sorts opf goalposts is what scuppered them and the game. Lair-yes, Sony DID push for a Sixaxis showcase but F5 SHOULD'NT have put their eggs in one basket and having preferred playing Lair by Remote Play I truly believe a full set of well considered "normal" controls would have saved the game from much of it's scalding.

Comes to something when you actively try to show people that there's arguments both ways that I'm the one accused of being one eyed. I'm a pretty big Wii sympathiser as it goes(just think that Nintendo's approach to third parties stinks-they need more demos and promotion on the Shoping and Nintendo Channels at least, imo, then fewer would sell so poorly or, like WaW have to rely on word of mouth)but just because the actual reasons behind Haze and Lair failing, and their devs, has little to nothing whatsoever to do with Sony don't bite me for telling you.

Sometimes I am facetious and very sarcastic when dealing with some of the backwards logic that is rampant on this Sony dominated site. I'm using Haze in the same way people like to use NMH or Madworld, I can easily bring up The God Father 2, or more recently Bionic Commando to do the same thing. Flops are NOT exclusive to Wii, that is the only point I'm trying to illustrate. Even the PS2 had flops. Well you've just shown just how little you know because Chinatown Wars is on the DS and if you want to talk about the DS how does the fact that Kingdom Hearts has nearly equalled the sales of GTA:CW whilst being only available in one region(the smallest region as well). On DS there's a BIG jrpg fanbase but on Wii I'm not so sure-there really hasn't been one that's taken off hugely has there?(honest guestion there!)At the same time I think the PS3 iser base is VERY ready for big jrpgs whuich is why the likes of WKC and DS are so talked about despite not being big names. Then again KH is big enough to do well on either, imo. Would like to see it with HD sheen personally as I can't see why Wii controls would make a big difference to it this time.

Still hold the opinion that MS could swoop for this one as some of the other SE related games they snagged had far smaller followings in the US. Who knows really?

Honestly the only place I've seen that has shown a lot of enthusiasm for White Knight Chronicles and Demon's Souls is this site. Very few other message boards mention either game, and it's been about a month since I've seen a lengthy hands-on or preview.

Cheeseknight28 is right lots of HD games are being ignored and it's pretty odd. I mean blue blaze is actually good, I'm betting none of you know about it right? Well the fans of the HD system are more into fighting each other than playing games. Also IF NPD gave you guys subscriptions to their info as part of your online package I would think that would be the only thing they need.

Some times I think you guys are more into to arguing about gaming than playing the games, yet that makes sense because most of you don't have the time or money to be playing games all day like we did when we where 10.

The point I make is that WKC and DS(which HAVE garnered more attention than expected hence the fact they're getting western full retail releases ahead of the likes of Yakuza3-which, again, shows how starved of jrpgs the PS3 has been, no?)have been spoken about a hell of a lot more than they would have been(deservedly so from what I've played of my mates import in DS case-hard but really good)under similar circumatances to what the user base was used to on PS2, no?

I don't buy into the "WKC is AAA" because it's about all we've got syndrome that some PS3 only gamers have fallen to and am saying that the level, even among PS3 owners, of interest for these games is higher because of the drought.

KH3 would sell, imo, at a good rate on either console as an exclusive or a multi but inless I can see, or someone shows me, what Wii controls might add to KH3 as a game then I would rather the game look as good as it can do. If there's no difference in how it plays then why would I not?

BTW, Scissors, you know I'm not one to be unfair here, just not what I do(and BB looks STUNNING and for Guilty Gear fans is a real plus imo)but some of the Wii faithful are getting way to sensitive and reacting when people aren't actually having any kind of dig at all.

As for the thing you said about FF13 getting grief from HD console owners-from where I sit that falls into two camps.1, those too upset about it no longer being PS3 exclusive that they just don't think(and, in a way they have a right to be upset at SE but it's time to let it go now)and 2, those, who I agree with much more, who just think the game might not be all it could have been as niow it has to accommodate not just the PS3's shortcomings but also those of the 360. Had the game been exclusive to either it would, I feel , have been a better game than it will as a multi that can't be optimised for either.

Mainly, though, I'm just worried about the messy combat screens-it looks like a lot of bars going on to me! Then again the demo vids show people getting on OK and messy screens are just my bugbear so I think , afer all that's been said of FF13 we can only wait now.

Far from HD games being "ignored" I also think that many have been talked about more than they might have been. Whether that actually reflects in the eventual sales time will tell but the disappearing game isn't just an HD thing, is it? Often there's only the likes of myself ,SR and Sidar commenting on Wii topics on here(obviously with a few other exceptions like Spoony)-ay least with much sense as there's always haters for some reason.

But, whatever, I get the feeling that we might be reaching saturation in same areas of gaming which will lead to a bit of cooling off in those genres effected-honestly, though, I really have been surprised by how often WKC and similar have been spoken of-though admittedly mostly pre E3.

No thanks. I just think KH could benefit more from the PS3. The one thing I would of liked in KH is bigger and more detailed environments in each world and that is far more probable on a console that is capable of more. Also I haven't seen any fast paced action similar to KH on the Wii and I don't want it gimped and not improved on at all as that was a big part of the fun. Granted, I haven't played my Wii in a while so maybe there is.

Not sure about the team, but Nomura is the director of both. It would make sense to use the same engine given that the combat systems will be similar, but sense and Wada don't go together.

I seriously hope, for the sake of the game, that they release a main entry of the series on a HD console (hope it's PS3). Everything the Wii could do has been done before in PS2 with Kingdom Hearts (except with the controls). If it's a spinoff, then no problem XD

Kingdom Hearts was not one of the defining graphical experiences on the PS2 though. It used a distinct style, and that style would not be that much different were it on the PS3.

The Wii (And Gamecube, actually) are more powerful than the PS2 so there would be some improvement. That is, unless Square-Enix decides to take the route that they have been doing often these days and simply porting the KH1+2 with no improvements (Like with Crystal Chronicles on DS/Wii).

Also, the Wii's controller added a lot to games like Madworld, No More Heroes, and Legend of Zelda in my opinion. Kingdom Hearts' combat system is not all that dissimilar to these examples, so I think it would make a good transition.

I hated the Wiimote, and I felt guilty about it as a gamer. I love Nintendo, have always been a Nintendo supporter and fan and have to say Nintendo has provided me with some of my most memorable gaming moments...but I cannot stand having to waggle the controller when a button press will do. Ruined the last Zelda for me, and it's the first Zelda game (apart from the DS Zelda games) that I just had no interest in finishing.

Thats where the fanbase is, thats the Platform Nomura has said they'll use, as it will use the battle system from Versus XIII. Not to mention, the Versus XIII team are the Kingdom Hearts team.

I mentioned in my last post that better graphics IS NOT the only thing that a better hardware can offer. That's a silly stereotype that you and many fanboys like to believe. Look at Dead Rising for the Wii, was it better because of the motion controls? It could barely handle 20 zombies on screen! It was supposed to be at least 10 times that! I could come up with other examples if you wish. My point is, that's the kind of things that a developer can put on HD consoles and not on the Wii.

And just for your information, I'm not into this motion control thing, I played on a Wii, it was fun, but I don't think I would spend more than 2 hours doing that... and I'm not fat, just in case you want to bash me for that xD. So I'm not really excited about Natal, or Sony's motion control, but I think it would be a better experience in those machines, because those consoles allow more physics calculation and you do a lot of things with that :D

Prime 3 runs 20+ first go round trying to get 100%. Furthermore, the games jumped UP in price, all because of shorter campaigns and prettier graphics?

F*&$ physics! Super Metroid on SNES hardware still out does many if games this gen in atmosphere and gameplay.

Dude, first of all, as far as I know, Kingdom Hearts's fanbase consist mostly in people who had played RPG's before (Like Final Fantasy 7) and anime otakus. I believe it's not a misconception, since I know a lot of people who like those games (and every single one of them loves anime too). Kingdom Hearts WAS NOT just a Disney game, it went beyond that. So I'm not so sure if its target audience is JUST kids who like disney movies. Have you played those games? You would know if you had o.o.

Second, I haven't played any Monster Hunter game so I couldn't compare, but Dragon Quest would sell millions even if it's just on cellphones xD I don't know why you hate better hardware so much .-.

Third, it's consoles we are talking about XD, bringing the PC up was pointless. I said, developers are MUCH LESS handicaped with 360 and PS3 hardware than they are with the Wii, how can hoping for the best for a game (like a hypotetical KH3) be a bad thing??

Fourth, I honestly think there is a lot of room for improvement this generaiton, we are only halfway trough this one and many games have gotten better from last generation (See Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, The Orange Box (compare it to Half Life on PS2), Tales of Vesperia, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2) we have seen a lot of amazing new franchises (Uncharted, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Little Big Planet, Dead Space, Assassin's Creed (you might disagree on this one), Valkyria Chronicles, Lost Odyssey, Crackdown, the list goes on) I'm not saying EVERY game has improved, that never happens, and the situation with developers is different now, Shinji Mikami left Capcom, Sakaguchi left Square Enix, etc. (That's why DMC4 and RE5 are not the same as the previous games) if you are going to just put your hand in your ears and shout "they all suck!" I can't blame you, just enjoy your games, and let me enjoy mine.

Saying 5 hour is a standard for newer games is another stereotype, as I have spent at least 20 hours on each game I play on my 360 (Including the shorter ones, like Mirror's Edge, for example). Games like Killzone 2 or Call of Duty 4 may have short campaigns, but they provide, potentially INFINITE hours thanks to their awesome Multiplayer, something that Nintendo decided to be not so cool and had to be crippled for their games.

Games are more expensive, because development costs have gone up (d'uh), they are not as easy to make as they were before (most of them)btw you seem to be ommiting PSN and XBLA games, wich are really good and cheap (Flower, Braid, Wipeout HD, NobyNoby Boy, Bionic Commando Rearmed, the upcoming Fat Princess). Something the Wii also lacks (With World of Goo being a notable exeption).

And I mentioned physics when I was talking about MOTION CONTROL GAMES xD you missed the point and brought Super Metroid up, I didn't know motion controls were there so early xD. I mentioned physics calculation because it opens up a lot of new posibilities (FOR MOTION CONTROL GAMES) that can be taken advantage of (Have you played Portal? Imagine that with motion controls...) And by saying Super Metroid outdoes many of this gen's games in terms of atmosphere and gameplay is COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE. (And had nothing to do with what I said).

Fifth, the problem with your posts is that you keep bringing things that have nothing to do with the main subject of my post(like I will explain further), I said there's not much room for improvement by developing KH3 for the Wii, and I wouldn't like the series to stay on older hardware. Can you blame me for thinking that? Why is that so bad and disturbing to you?. Anyways, Testsuya Nomura owns the series, and he's a big Playstation fanboy, so I guess Kingdom Hearts 3 is in good hands, for now xD.

And Lastly, you seem to have many misconceptions about me. First, you said I became suddenly excited for PS3 and 360 motion controls, then you said I don't want "silly casuals" playing on my console of choice, and now you say I should know about gaming story, while talking about SNES games. FYI my first console was a PS2 xD I got it in 2007, but I've played on my PC since 1994,so I played a lot of SNES games via emulator, I played Super Metroid too but I didn't like it xD (I loved Megaman X, Bomberman (1 to 5), TLOZ: A link to the past) But I was more into Warcraft 2, Diablo, and Starcraft (I was a Blizzard fanboy xD). KH3 on ps3 will be a bigger more detailed game with better graphics with awesome cutscenes and plenty of story. nothing will be cut out of the game and they wont need to make a remix version. a wii Kh3 would look like the ps2 versions and be a smaller game. go back and play kh1&2 and see how wack the graphics are and how the sequal cant be any bigger or better with same dvds. trophis,dlc, perfect audio, cutscenes, awesome game case and boxart, and being able to keep it in your sony collection of KH games is a nice plus. I havent even gotten to the ps3 technical power. More enemies on screen, more going on in game, co-op or multiplayer online modes. more power means more options for gameplay as there can be better enemies ai etc. It just to many advantages to not put it on ps3. I want an epic sequal, not more of the same with less stuff. kh3 on ps3> wii
