REHorror: What if Resident Evil stayed exclusive to Nintendo?

"We all remember when it was announced by Shinji Mikami san several years ago that Resident Evil would be Nintendo exclusive for the foreseeable future. We also remember how the reaction to this announcement was. However what we didn't expect was for not only the exclusivity to end but also Mikami's relations with the franchise he created to cease. So what if Capcom let Mikami go with his vision for Resident Evil on Nintendo platforms instead of ruining a strong relationship by breaking the exclusivity deal. (porting RE4 to PS2)"

I'm not even gonna read the article I just want to say that Resident Evil has gone down hill and it needs to go back to its roots (tank controls, and bad camera) I actually enjoyed the series back then.

jessehaysfl5428d ago

Resident Evil 5 sold what 6...7 million.......This will never again be on only one console.

Hellsvacancy5428d ago (Edited 5428d ago )

I completed Res5 last nite and in my opinion it was crap!!!

The movies r just as bad ALL of them

Maybe im just a hard person 2 please or Resident Evil has just out-stayed its welcome in my gamin mind its not wot it was all those many years ago when i played the 1st 2 games which were/are awesome games

ThanatosDMC5428d ago

Stupid useless article. It's all ready multiplat.

Beast_Master5428d ago (Edited 5428d ago )

I think RE5 was fun as heck, but I played through it twice with a friend, I could see people not enjoying it if they don't have friends. This is the reason I am pumped for Lost Planet 2, 4 player co-op is gonna be insane. If RE stayed exclusive to nintendo the franchise would either be dead or they wouldn't be able to sell one copy unless Mario and Sonic where in it.

Oh the thought of a Mario and Sonic RE has given me a case of the giggles..oh goodness I can't stop laughing... ROFL

AKNAA5428d ago

Sure RE5 is more action oriented now, but I still enjoyed it regardless. I didn't read the article, but resident evil was exclusive to nintendo?! WTF?! since when? it was only RE4 that use to be exclisve right?!

Regret5427d ago

I remember playing RE1, 2, 3 on PS1, and RE4 on PS2, so i have no idea about what exclusivity he is talking about.

FarEastOrient5427d ago

It was a bad decision on their part after releasing Resident Evil 4 and saying that it will only stay on a Nintendo console. RE4 actually outsold the gamecube version when it was ported to the PS2 even though it was released 1 1/2 years later.

Even though the PS3 version of Resident Evil 5 outsold the Xbox 360 when looking at worldwide figures, the sale through of both versions combined is nothing to ignore. In most cases it is all about backing the right console...

Sir Ken_Kutaragi5428d ago

RE5 wasn't PS3 only. Really looks dated that game. You can tell it was made for the ChatBox 360 to. Oh well, let's hope RE6 is PS3 Exclusive with KZ2 looks!!! ;-P

-MD-5428d ago

I wouldn't hold my breath.

BadboyCivic5428d ago

Sure Ken-PS3 gamers dont buy games, they buy bluray movies,so it will never be exclusive unless its made by sony.

RE5 was fun, it was just not scary...Wii does not have the power to Run RE5.

What does Uncharted's graphics have to do with Resident Evil 5?

and now the nintendo system couldn't do the main screen(according to capcom),showes you how nintendo doesn't think of the hardcore like they were

nintendo is fading away from hardcore mature titles more and more,I don't know what happened,I remember n64 and gamecube had amazing Mature titles, turok series, perfect dark,conker,re4,eternal darkness,etc...

and even worse R*'s amazing ds exclusive chinatown wars, didn't sell good was announced in no time for the psp

even if they port re5 to wii, still it will pale in comparison with ps3\360 game,re5 had amazing graphics, feels truly nextgen,re5 wii will be another dead rising wii

El Botto5428d ago (Edited 5428d ago )

Because this post is pure failure and bound to get pwned.

Resident evil was never a "series that was exclusive to Nintendo system", wii kid.

Resident evil 1 was a PSX exclusive released exclusive for the PSX in 1994/1995. RE2 was also a PSX exclusive and so was RE3.

Later, they made RE: codename Veronica for the dreamcast as the series went multi platform.

They also ported RE2 to the N64 3 years after PSX owners could brag about the game. At the same time, when N64 fanboys thought they could brag about it to PSX owners, PSX owners got RE3 around the same timeframe so PSX owners got the last laugh again (leaving many delusional N64 kids crying for months - man, PS owners always win. They win every damn console war). RE3 was also the last true hardcore Resident evil game and boy was that game hardcore during those days. Ill never forget how the Nemesis hunted you down in those narrow alleys. RE3 is arguably the best RE ever made. True hardcore horror. And PSX exclusive forever.

After part 3, a whole bunch of spin offs and remakes were created for every system available.

Its only RE4 that started as a gamecube exclusive but soon went to PS2 and PC. RE4, while being an immense hit (a modest flop on the gamecube but a huge hit on PS2), proved to be Resident evil by name only as the game has changed beyond immaginations. Starting from RE4, the resident evil series are no longer survival horror but action adventure.

Bottom line: GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

And yes, RE5 sucked. The series is no longer horror but action adventure and a very scripted experience. Once you finish, you never go back. And the story is abysmal to say the least.

don't teach me history,to add more history,RE1 was even ported to sega saturn also, remember that one?,I know all that,I knew and played all the resi games(except 1 at its time),all im saying that mikami's decision to make the series nintendo exclusive was wrong(sure re1 remake,re0 and the the unbelievable 4 were mindblowing) and hey one of my favorite system of all time was the n64 buddy,Im no nintendo hater but thier decisions in the past few years were disgusting

sorry I know my comment title was a bit misleadin,I should wrote, the series that was ONCE exclusive.sorry

TheDeadMetalhead5428d ago (Edited 5428d ago )

I have RE5 on PS3, and yes, I do think it could've been done on Wii. Sorry, but that game just recycled RE4's with slightly prettier visuals. Everything in it felt dated, and it could probably be ported to Wii without much trouble.

Not that I care either way, because I already have the game and I don't like it. =/

@el botto - RE1 was on Saturn, RE3 was on Dreamcast, RE2 got ported less than a year later, and the first RE was released in 1996, not 94/95.

Quote: "Bottom line: GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!"

Oh, the irony.

Marceles5428d ago

I doubt I'll be buying it...even though the RE1 remake, Zero, and RE4 were really great, I don't think they would be able to hold up being exclusive on the Wii.

The 10 PSVR 2 Games You Should Own

If you're looking for 'must have' PSVR 2 games then look no further. These are the 10 titles every PSVR 2 owner should have in their library.

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos51d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts51d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook751d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka51d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing51d ago (Edited 51d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka51d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

Neonridr51d ago

I own 7 of these titles off the list, lol.

NotoriousWhiz51d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos51d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1751d ago

GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.

talocaca51d ago

I have most of them 😅

Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Was Devastated With Bugs A Month Before Launch

The Resident Evil 4 remake's director has revealed in a recent documentary that the game was riddled with bugs in its final month before launch.

Rebel_Scum67d ago

Not a big surprise really. All games are pretty rough until the very end and everything is released with bugs regardless of how the consumer quantifies it as being “polished.”

CrimsonWing6967d ago

That’s sort of how game development or any kind of software development goes. Looking for bugs and debugging, QA, and trying to scramble and polish everything before a deadline’s up.
