Capcom: Street Fighter III HD Remix is "Unlikely"

While Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix may have broken numerous digital download records on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, Capcom isn't too keen on the idea of giving the same HD Remix treatment to the sequel, Street Fighter III.

ughh wtf, why no SF3 remakes? I'm getting tired of seeing SF2 characters.

menoyou5427d ago

Very disappointing. I would've bought this for sure.

Livenow5427d ago

considering that FFVII just generated free money for Sony and Square. Marvel v. Capcom 2 is going to do the same. It's a win win. The fans want it and the publisher makes money on an old IP given a new level of polish and trophies.

I swear I should become an exec at a major video game company. These guys are really out of touch in some regards.

Still think this has the best animation for a 2d fighter. I wanted this in HD more than SF2

Personally I would rather see a Street Fighter Alpha 3 HD remix but that seems even more unlikely considering the massive amount of characters and what not.

I think Capcom really needs to stop BSing about how hard it is to do stuff with HD sprites at this point. I mean not to long ago they said the reason Street Fighter IV was not in 2d was because they did everything that could be done with sprites in Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike which is obvious BS as games like Blaz Blue are clearly showing us that sprites can be pushed to the limit and still look absolutely stunning in the process.

Well sorry but it is indeed hard . Games like Odin sphere , sf2 hd , kof and blazblue just dont appears out of the blue . it takes a lots of works and time .

And while blazblue looks beautiful , it's animation was quite a bit sacrificed to attain that level of hd 2d perfection . It's far from being as well animated than SF3 (or 4 or the upcoming kof for that matter) . . Just check out sites with detailed access to each SF3 animation to see the difference . blazblue also "cheats" a bit by not being entirely hand drawn like some of the other recents initiatives .

When i say the animation was sacrificed for higher resolution ...I'm not talking about frame rate, I'm talking about the actual animation. Poses are held for a long time and they milk the hell out of individual frames instead of making an effort to have things flowing. All the effort has gone into detailed drawings and intricacies instead of creating high quality animation. This sort of thing is the difference between SF3 and GG... not the frame rate or image quality, but the number of frames (appropriately) used to express an action.

To have a good idea check this out http://www.zweifuss.com/ , you can look at the animations on demand from 3rd Strike. Every time a character falls over, crouches, jumps, whatever. High amount of frames for that action. Plus it's expressive and just awesome .

SF4 and kofXII are the only one closing in on sf3 animation-wise , and they both rely on 3d (use of 3d models for animation purposes for kof then redrawn over) .

PS: i'm not talking about whose better or not gameplay wise , obviously , only animation related stuff .

Capcom why not? A SFIII 3rd Strike HD Remix (or just the original) would sell like crazy on PSN and XBLA.....I mean its the best beat-em-up ever in many peoples eyes, this would sell very well in many countries (Japan would be all over it)

NobleRed5427d ago

Release a Street Fighter Alpha 3 Remix or better a Street Fighter Alpha 4 with HD sprites but I think none of this will happen because they are to lazy and they have to draw too many characters.

Information Minister5427d ago

Street Fighter Alpha 4 in HD would be absolutely awesome! I'm probably the only person on the planet who thinks SF Alpha 3 was better than SFIII.

Baka-akaB5427d ago (Edited 5427d ago )

You're far from the only one . While parry is an obvious crowd pleaser in videos , i prefer alpha .

So do many and most people imo . Despite a return to popularity over internet forum partially due to those awesome youtube and co video of daigo and great players , SF3 wasnt really a success , for whatever reasons .

It wont suddenly become one just because a limited amount of forums users wants it .
But it would be great to have a re-release with upscale and online at the very least , and i'm sure that will happens , just like with MVC2 , instead of a complete rehaul

Pffft. What desperate articles

I played street fighter 2 for years on my SNES even after I got my N64. It was just relaxing the way you could beat the snot out of such iconic characters.

Persona 5, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD & Virtua Fighter 5 are almost playable on RPCS3

Great news for all PS3 fans (blasphemyyyyyyyy, how can a PC gaming site talk about PS3 fans, how, HOW, HOOOOOOWWWWW) as RPCS3 is making a lot of progress. Since the launch of a Patreon campaign, its author has been working hard on it and it appears that its latest version can run a couple of games.

If they had more PS4 games I would've taken advantage of this.

triverse2801d ago

I have to agree. I wish companies would do more porting of their previous digital only games such as Final Fight Double Impact over to the PS4. I want to get a Playstation but 3 seems on the way out and 4 is still too new for a lot of what I am interested in.

NapalmSanctuary2801d ago (Edited 2801d ago )

I wish they would port their full classic line brawlers from the 90s. Man, they made some good games back then.

triverse2800d ago

Napalm, check out their PSP Reloaded and Remixed collections. Great value for the money and full of their core retro games. I am not sure what consoles they released those collections on but I am sure PS3 and Xbox 360 were in there.

just-joe2800d ago

Or say if the PS4 was backwards compatible.

triverse2800d ago

Well, we know that is not going to happen anytime soon, at least not till people stop buying PS3 games and such. Sad. I wish it was backwards compatible too- I would buy a PS4 immediately if it worked with at least the digital stuff from the PS3.

DivineAssault 2800d ago

I wish Sony would get the licenses for all the classic arcade games from the 80s and 90s for the PS4.. I dont see why they wouldnt want to make money? I miss those brawlers like xmen, tmnt, etc.. So many great games people are forced to play on mame

triverse2800d ago

The problem with that idea is that a lot of those companies are now defunct and no one really knows who owns the rights to what game. Then in cases like X-Men, it is multiple companies involved (the engine would be Konami's while the actual X-Men license would be Marvel's) and sometimes none of the companies involved are interested in working together again for whatever reason.

I wish it would happen too though.
