GamesRadar: The Conduit Review

GamesRadar writes: "Few developers bother to utilize Nintendo's ageing guts and motion controls to churn out exclusive, traditional content, and fewer still refine that into anything resembling a meaningful experience. The solid, yet unremarkable single-player won't win any awards, but The Conduit still features the most finely honed online outings available on the Wii, thus making it supremely worthy of our third highest score. We can't wait to see what else the Quantam3 engine has in store".

good solid score..not sure why sony and xbox owners are complaining..you dont own a wii

TheMART5441d ago

Yes I do, I own all 3 of them. The Wii just softmodded to be able to emulate all the consoles I own or owned once.

The Wii just can't do real hardcore games that even come close to the 360/PS3 games, it just falls short in every way. I just guess with the Wiimote and the 'power' of the supercharged gamecube only shiatware fits, or just special creative ones like Madworld. Too bad those don't sell to the nongamer Wii audience.

" real hardcore games "

*desk slam*
LOL

pangitkqb5441d ago

But not what many hardcore Wii gamers were hoping for. Still, good overall and to be appreciated.

"But not what many hardcore Wii gamers were hoping for"
What more do they want? It confirms its a solid game =)

good review , great game.. i love hearing sony and microsoft fanboys...they cant let go of the fact that their system dont sell cause of variety....obviously all your system offers is shooters so to you this is not much...but to a system that actually has variety this is a very good game.

bjornbear5441d ago (Edited 5441d ago )

Why are you hating on PS3 and 360? This has nothing to do with them.

And if by variety you mean Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Restort, and the other countless Wii "Add Casual Market Hook Here" products, you are wrong.

All 3 consoles have variety, just each console caters to a certain crowd. And its not about sales, its about quality - and the Wii has (unfortunately) proven that sales aren't synonym to quality gaming.

None the less, glad this game is getting good reviews =) HV is very promessing and i hope to see more from them!!

HQLocated1115441d ago

lol This is the first Wii fanboy I've seen this gen.

N4g_null5441d ago

wiizy don't even bring them up man. They will come only to the reviews that have bad scores. Only a few true fanbois will show up at the good reviews.

Also HVS is raising their stock on this game and I wish them luck tomorrow. The game dev community is rooting for you guys! If it does not do crazy numbers then it will surely have legs.

Last-gen ports, children games and mini-games is suddenly variety? Oh, so now that it has a shooter that is barely above average, you can say it has variety? Wait, I forgot rail-shooters... you can keep those.

Anyway, really, why risk being humiliated? Because you know, the genres that PS3 and 360 have covered (and Wii does not) are:

-Western RPGs: Fallout, Oblivion, Bioshock, Borderlands
-First Person Shooters: Killzone 2, Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Resistance Fall of Man, Resistance 2, Halo ODST, Halo Reach, Modern Warfare 2
-Third Person Shooters: Uncharted 1 and 2, Gears of War 1 and 2, SOCOM, GRAW 1 and 2, Lost Planet 1 and 2, Red Faction, etc
-Open World/Sandbox games: GTAIV, Infamous, Prototype, Crackdown, Saints Row, Assassin's Creed, etc
-Fighting games: Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter, Marvel VS Capcom, etc
-Horror Games: Resident Evil 5, Condemned, Silent Hill, Siren: Blood Curse, etc
-Platformers: Ratchet and clank FTOD, R&C: ACIT, Banjo Kazooie, Kameo, Little Big Planet
-Racing games: Motorstorm 1, Motorstorm 2, GT5: Prologue, Forza 2, Forza 3, Need 4 Speed, Burnout Paradise
-Flying sim: Warhawk, Hawx, Ace Combat 6
-RTS: Command n' Conquer, Halo Wars

Even on JRPGs, the Wii doesn't have much. Not like the PS3 does, but it has a few gems and so does 360. White Knight Chronicles, Valkyria Chronicles, Demons Soul, Folklore, Magna Carta, Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey. Then again, they have more than the Wii on that genre too.

Hell, even the casual genres are covered by 360 and PS3. Singstar, Buzz, In the movies, Lips, EyePet, Eye of Judgment, Natal, and lots of original PSN and XBL content; not so much on Wiiware.

Seriously... there's a lot more 3rd party support and original IP on PS3 and 360 than on Wii. Not saying the Wii is complete crap, just not the best choice for a hardcore gamer. I'm mostly interested in Mario and Zelda and a few new IP games that might be bound to get the port treatment on PS3 and 360 with their new motion controls anyway.

ZuperAmazingCooKie some one stole your cookie? The wii is fine in fact conduit is the best controlling FPS so far. Online is great and the graphics are actually really really good for the spec limits.

I'm sorry you can find any thing too play. on another note I don't like any of the games you listed. Clearly HD gaming is not my preference because if I'm going to play HD games then I want a real HD game on a PC.

Also that list you have has nothing on the VC that has loads of classic that blow those new games out of the water. On top of that I have access to some of my favorite neo geo games. I'm not missing any of those games you listed.

I love games with good art but I also love game with great controls and on top of that I'm not really liking what you guys are calling HD console right now. I have this on PC and it is night and day. So I think I'm covered like most people I'm not really impressed by HD visual alone.... These games still play like UT from the first PS1. I'm not interested in that.

If any thing why are you not bring up the real hardcore HD games? I mean do you even know what they are? What you listed was a award ceremony for some stuck up magazine. If those games where really that good then I would be hooked on them right now.

How about you just stop coming to Wii article and you will not have to take up for poor sony? I think we have said all that needs to be said about those guys. It's their problem now yet I'm not going to rain on your parade since you guys are dead last. Believe me things could get worst really fast for that system. Hey but why talk on bad stuff huh? SONy will be fine they have 20 million people to sell games to.

Looks like Scissor had his hand in a ZuperAmazingCookie Jar and decided to take a bite outta it. Only to find it wasn't ZuperAmazing at all just ZuperLame! Funny how you had to name off a bunch of games from TWO platforms to make your argument Zupe, that's weak. Also you must not really know what the Wii has to offer gamewise beyond Cooking mama..And you call yourself hardcore...

EvilTwin5440d ago

Zupe -- how does the Wii not have variety? (And what's with making Bioshock a "Western RPG" instead of a FPS?)

Wii now has a few darn good FPS games: Metroid Prime 3 (and actually, the entire Metroid Prime trilogy this summer) and now The Conduit, plus two decent shooters in MOH: Heroes 2 and COD:WAW.

Platformers? Galaxy, Paper Mario, de Blob, and two more Marios on the way.

Action/adventure/RPG? Zelda: TP and the best version of Okami available.

Brawlers? NMH and MadWorld. Add in Smash Bros. for fighting, and you could even toss Punch Out in here.

RTS? Little King's Story and Swords & Soldiers.

Sports? Pro Evo Soccer and Tiger Woods have their best iterations on Wii this gen. Grand Slam and Virtua tennis will only get better with M+. Shaun White snowboarding is pretty good, too.

Puzzlers? World of Goo, Boom Blox and Zack & Wicki.

Does the Wii have gaps in its lineup? Sure. It doesn't have enough TPS or sandbox games. But it has its own strengths. I sure as heck wouldn't play Trauma Center on any other console.

Splatoon 2 Shows Off What Wii Shooters Should Have Been

There’s a consensus about Splatoon 1 that cannot be disputed: motion controls are the way to play. The Wii U Gamepad had its many problems on the system as a whole, but along with the way in which the touch screen was implemented in the first game like I mentioned in my last piece, using the Gamepad’s gyroscope was deemed a superior way to play compared to traditional joystick control.
