At OXCGN we are first and foremost gamers. Even though we run a dedicated Xbox platform site, we all play and own various other consoles. While some console specific sites maintain their user base by downplaying the good aspects of the 'competing' systems, at OXCGN we like to recognise the great features that make each system unique. Without further ado, OXCGN presents the 3 best features of each console.... More after the jump
GB: "With this feature, we will be taking a look at 15 of the most interesting facts about the PS3."
I knew all of those things. I'll add one that many dont know (if you are a hardware person you do). you CAN actually swap bluray drives between systems. The drives themselves are interchangeable but the board that interfaces is not. So anyone who has a dead optical drive can just get a replacement and swap the interface board and be back to reading discs in no time. I've had to do this myself on both a 20gb B01 as well as a 40gb L01 unit.
you can also replace the spinning hdd with an SSD for improved (not life changing) performance as well as quieter and cooler system reliability. The physical spinning drives draw more current and generate heat as a result. Using an SSD means no moving parts and thus will have less current draw and reduced fan noise from not having to spin as much as usual to offset any heat generated by the spinning hdd.
Still one of my favorite Playstations next to the Playstations that came before it and after it.
Xbox 360 launched 18 years ago and was a generation-defining console that invited many people to jump into gaming for the first time and connect with friends around the world. We’re thrilled people continue playing their favorite Xbox 360 games on Xbox 360, or on newer consoles via Backward Compatibility for supported titles.
"we believe in game preservation"
Remember the media reaction when PlayStation wanted to shut down the PS3 store (but then kept it open)... where is that reaction here?
RIP Xbox 360 digital store and all its games.
It really grinds my gears that they are waiting till 10 days before closing to give the best discounts and the list as of now is 100 or less titles from the massive 360 library
I should have enough points by the weekend to get £25 credit off MS, (hardly ever spend money on xb1), might look at a few of these.
The Xbox 360 store was one of the only advantages the Xbox Series consoles had over the PS5. When I got my series X, I spent more playing Xbox 360 games vs current-gen Xbox games since that was the golden era for Xbox and several titles had enhancements such as 4k resolution and fps boost.
Closing this store will now only benefit the competition.
Games Asylum: "Every console generation has seen a fad or two, be it gratuitously violent beat’em ups, dancing ‘n singing party games, casual titles with motion controls, or predominantly beige first-person shooters. In the early ‘90s, the biggest craze was mascot platformers, fuelled by the astonishing popularity of Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. This seven-game strong cartridge not only gives a taster of that era, but also takes us beyond that to sample Sunsoft’s 32-bit debut."
the 360 is my primary gaming machine but in terms of hardware etc, I think the PS3 wins the console war, they look hot, they play my blu rays and online gaming is free, its just a pity their range of games at the moment is much thinner compared to the 360.
Oh yeah and the Wii fails. (except for Zelda, Smash Bros and its Virtual Console)
These are the best features of the consoles?
wow...
I'm a Xbox fan, but that does NOT stop me enjoying the other great games from other platforms . . those that say one is superiour to others are simply fanboys - pure and simple.
Extolling the virtues of one over all others is not a wise or sensible thing. As each has it's own special areas that make it unique.
For me, the 360 wins for what I WANT in my life at this time.
xbox's 3 main features are nothing unique....lol
....despite being an Xbox-oriented site, they always got a good article once in a while patting the backs of their competition as well.
We need more sites like this..period.
