yeah its down to 1200pts now because the gears community was not too keen on the fact that the loyal customers who bought all the packs up to this point kinda get screwed. the retail version will no longer be coming out due to the change

cause the game is easy to pick up and play, lots of the games that are played most often are easy to pick up and play, all cod series, gears, halo, l4d etc.....

Ms has stated this long ago when the 360 was released, they said controllers are to complicated, games are to long and some are to hard.

Since then games have been shorter, easier to pick up and play, and start off on normal that is easier then last gens normal.

SO thats the answer to you question as to why people love gears. the same answer applies for cod,l4d,halo and a few other games this gen.

Fortunately both Halo and Gears provide higher difficulty settings.

Games should be hard. Toys (Wii) could be easier.

Maybe that's why I never got into Halo, Gears and most CoD games. Steep learning curves can make a much more rewarding game for those who get into it.

I.E. Rainbow Six: Raven Shield and Battlefield Vietnam were games I played for 3 years straight. They had crushing difficulty if you didn't remember every trick in combat, every weapon spec, and to know when to retreat from a force superior in firepower. Yet that's what made them so fun.

CoD4 hardcore is ludicrously easy by comparison to a game of CS 1.6.

I use an m14 while most just spray with an LMG. I always close to the top. I also Play COD on the pc where there are always people online and 54 player rooms. It isn't hard to play hardcore.

No one said it was hard to play, its not easy to dominate.

It is easy to dominate when the other team uses nothing but LMG and P90s. 1 Shot from a M14 will kill with a chest shot with stopping power on. I have my spots on every map and it never fails to have those 3 people that are dead set on getting you but they never can. My steam ID is big_buckin_chicken if you wanna play sometime.

I agree COD4 can be easy and feels good to play(which all the best shooters usually do) but its not easy to "dominate" on Hardcore...and I'm actually good. And Halo MLG is ridiculously competitive, especially as you climb toward a 50.

You won't make it to a 50 in Halo 3 unless you are about a pro-level Halo player. Seriously it doesn't get a whole lot more competitive than the Halo MLG playlist...and I play CS:S and used to play 1:6.

your argument kinda goes out the window due to the fact that you don't play the computer in multiplayer modes. these modes are the most played aspects of the games you listed, even years after release.

life doomer i agree, i like the game becuase of how easy it is, yeah it gets hard but overall its a easy game to play. But yeah, a total rip off. It kind of annoys me when real good games dont become popular becuase they arent so easy to pick up and play.

I dont really care for Gears but its great to see SOMEONE releasing DLC for a single player game. Good on you Epic.

Everythings damn online now, single player is getting left out. I hope other devs realise this and bring out more content. I managed to game for 30 years without online, I think me and others like me shouldnt be forgotten for the pursuit of more and more death match maps.

And Epic have always been good for supportting their games. Like I said, I just wish more devs were releasing single player content.

I know online is all the rage, but lets face it, 90% of online play is just deathmatch, CTF or some variant and I dont much care for it. You play differently than in SP where you can often play at you own pace and strategise in other ways.

single player DLC is a nice addition but after playing so much multiplayer, you want that to be their focus.

now what I really want to happen, MS needs to get rid of the royalty for a second disc and allow devs/publishers to make single player on disc1 and multi on disc2 freeing up valuable disc space.

I never said that gears, halo, cod4, l4d where easy, i said thier normal is eaiser then last gens normal, i said they are easier to pick up and play and easy to get into.

obviously they are harder to master.

Some devs will continue making hard games and that are very long.

other devs will not, they will make shorter games, add dlc to extend its life, add multiplayer to extend its life, and they will make the game accessible to everyone.

MS has studied this and has mentioned this before, how most people get bored with long games, or stay away from games with complicated controls etc... now us hardcore gamers dont mind but they are trying to get a new age of gamers and by making it easier overall is in thier best interest sales wise. for gods sake nintendo is adding a system that plays the game for you when it gets to hard.
you can always go to a higher difficulty but thats not the point im making.
