ESRB: Final Fantasy Tactics Rated for PSN?

If the ESRB is to be believed, then Final Fantasy VII might have been the first Square Enix game to hit the Playstation Network, but it certainly won't be the last. Recently added to the listings? Final Fantasy Tactics.

If it appeared on ESRB, then I'm 99.9% positive it's coming.

koehler835432d ago

It didn't.

www.esrb.org Search by Platform: Playstation 3

robotnik5432d ago

They are selling FFT in the Japanese Store.

ExcelKnight5432d ago

@1.1
Search for "Tactics", narrow down your search by platform to PSP/PSOne/PS3 (whichever you want) and you'll see that they changed their PSOne rating to include that it's coming to PSP and PS3 for that specific version.

PLAYSTATIONGENRATION5432d ago

i swear this game comes out every 2 years

SaiyanFury5432d ago (Edited 5432d ago )

It came out on the PSP as part of the Ivalice Alliance series, which was only by Square-Enix so they could remind everyone where the world originated from. The PSP game had some great movies thrown in with great cel-shading and whatnot. As a longtime veteran of the original game, I'd love to see the uncut original released on the PSN. Then I can go back and multiply Chaos Blades with the Two Swords trick. :P

Swiftfox5432d ago

You know I've always known about that trick, but I tended to use the Jp glitch more often since some classes take to long to actually master (I.E Summoner and Black Mage). That be a "used to" since I realized I was cheating myself the experience.

So I just caught my 99 Chaos blades from Ninja's...and my 99 Chirijiradan...99 Epic Lances...99 Masamunes...99....

I also hope that its for the original PS1 release of the game.

gambare5432d ago

well... ESBR rated FFVII for the PSN before the E3.

DrWan5432d ago

call war of lions, i recommend that instead of this version.

vhero5432d ago

I agree but porting the ps1 version would take them 5 minutes compared to porting the psp version which would take months. Which would save the most money??

Wildarmsjecht5432d ago

This game is fantastic. The PSP version allows anime cutscenes and you can get Luso from FFTA2 andhell, i love that....but the PS1 version has the glitch where you can duplicate items :D

dragunrising5432d ago

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions was great in that it had cut scenes, and expanded story. Its too bad they didn't port the psp game, but the heart of the game is still there. As stated above and below, it makes most sense to port the psp version. Also, if most psp games are available on PSN after October, what is the point of the "classic" version being released?

vhero5432d ago

because the classic version can be played on both ps3 and psp the psp version would only be playable on the psp.

dragunrising5432d ago (Edited 5432d ago )

Captain Obvious, the core game is the same. It would not take months to port the game over to the PS3. I see the release of regular version Final Fantasy Tactics as a cheap and quick way for Square to make money. If there is a superior version of a game out, that version should be the one to be released. I love the game but Square is being lazy.

Edit: the fanboy's came out to say hello it would seem. Why defend a quick and easy port to a nearly decade old game? Clearly War of the Lions is the superior version. It wouldn't hurt to give gamers that version. Better yet, make both available.

FunkyBunch5432d ago

It would be awesome if they gave you a discount for already owning the PSOne game... If they did that, I'd probably buy all the good ones, even if though I own some of them already.

The ones that I would like to see most:
Vagrant Story
Azure Dreams
Brave Fencer: Musashi (I know it's a cheezy game, but I liked it)
Battle Arena Toshinden
Diablo
Legacy of Kain:Soul Reaver
Lunar: Silver Star Story

ExcelKnight5432d ago

@4.5
The PSP version has flaws. Slowdowns on every single special attack, sound de-sync and lower/changed sound quality are a few of the problems. Once you're done with the story, there's very little reason to do the co-op/versus stuff since there's nothing to actually use its rewards on (no new, deeper dungeon or anything).

If they were to actually fix those flaws in a PS3/PSP re-release of the PSP version, I'd be all-in and paying full PSN game price for the game (around $15-$20 for ones with platinum trophies, right?).

It's already out on the Japanese store, how hard can it be to check your facts first?

lloyd_wonder5432d ago

ESRB is for NA. This is hinting at FFT on the US PlayStation Store.

It's insane its been this long since the last release.

CrimsonWing6921d ago

Not from you.

Knowing how you handled FF16 by trying to make it appeal to non-fans and changing the entire gameplay design I can see you changing Tactics to appeal to non-fans.

If they’re going to do this please give it to someone who wants to keep the game and genre in tact.

VersusDMC21d ago

He worked on tactics ogre reborn. Was there changes? He wouldn't make an FF tactics game an action game. It will be AA but faithful. Probably what the Diofield Chronicles team and some of the FFXVI team is probably working on already and he is just keeping a secret.

And FF hasn't had a set gameplay design since X. I disliked the MMO, 12, 13 FF's but didn't mald for years. I played other games. Stop crying as he probably won't make a single player FF again and will be busy with the next FF MMO.

EternalTitan21d ago

I can feel your hatred. Keep it up.

Ataraxias21d ago

Tactics Ogre Reborn was an overall solid product but almost eliminated the concept of builds in the game.
So we'd probably end up with a system where character jobs like Mercenary for Ramza is 80% of the character instead of being freeform.

SegaSaturn66921d ago

Tactics Ogre Reborn changed a lot of gameplay mechanics for the worse. The class system is weird and hard to lock in roles, and they shoehorned a new "random card appearing" mechanic on the maps which makes no sense. Previously you obtained those boosts from killing powerful opponents, not spawning randomly.

There's a way better way to play Tactics Ogre: the fanmade onevision mod of the psp version.

EternalTitan21d ago

16 was just a terrible mess.
Its not even a JRPG let alone a final fantasy game.
Yosi piss(who said he hates JRPGs) should not touch another Final Fantasy game ever again.

VersusDMC21d ago

87 metacritic can't be a terrible mess.
If Kingdom Hearts is a JRPG then FFXVI is a JRPG. And he said he hates the term JRPG as it carries a bad stereotype with western journalists.

So you're just incorrect on several fronts...

Asterphoenix20d ago

I wouldn't mind a new FF Tactics longs they keep the tactical elements of Tactics in it as well as a very in depth story. Which FF Tactics years ago has by far one of the best stories in the series.

Tapani20d ago

Yes, alongside with Vagrant Story. Playing FFT, then Vagrant story and finally FFXII is a bliss. Deepest lore and best stories ever made in video games.

Final Fantasy Games That Deserve the Remake Treatment

Final Fantasy has a long running history with numerous numbered titles and spin-offs, but which games stand to benefit from a remake?

gold_drake130d ago

i feel like all of them.
well except 2 haha.

shinoff2183130d ago

Agreed. Ff2 though can be made better, so it's not entirely a lost cause. Ff8 will gets its time. I do wish they'd do the old ones. From ff10 and up those ones still hold up pretty well.

kevco33129d ago

Honestly, I've always felt that VII and up 'hold up well' in that regard. The early 3D games just needed a cosmetic update. But the FFVII Remake is so different to the original in execution that a lot of games could be done in a similar fashion and feel far more modern.

I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing (that depends on your personal preference!), just that they could feel very different.

shinoff2183129d ago

Kevco I liked remake but I think your right. Idda been happy with a 1 to 1 remake that looked like ever crisis to. Or both

I'd just love I square would one day give us a turned based one with today's graphics. I can't really think of a jrpg that does that.

andy85129d ago

I'd rather the 13 trilogy just be ported tbh. No matter what you think if it, it shouldn't be the only numbered offline games not playable on new consoles. But naturally I'd play the **** out of 8-12 remakes.

shinoff2183129d ago

I do agree. I'd give it another shot even though I didn't like it at first. My taste change over time. Gta 4 for instance I was so disappointed it lacked so much of what san andreas had I didn't play it for like 5 years. One day went to a semi pro football game(American football) came home drunk and decided to try 4 again. I actually liked it after giving it a fair shot.

Rebel_Scum129d ago

Just make new games. Not every game needs to be remade.

Final Fantasy Tactics Team "Incredibly Busy" With New Unannounced Project

The Final Fantasy Tactics team is "heavily involved" in a new unannounced project, according to Theatrhythm producer Ichiro Hazama.

FinalFantasyFanatic442d ago

It could be that or a remaster, that Nvidia leak list of games is getting more accurate.

shinoff2183442d ago

G I wonder what that is

Good news though for sure.
