Sims 3 Could Be Most Pirated Game In History

2008 was a marked year in history for EA. Not because they managed to scare the s#$@ out of more than 1.4 million people with Dead Space and not because they managed to have more than a million people committing virtual suicide over and over again from the skyscraper roof tops in Mirrors Edge, nor was it because they had another 29 titles that sold more than a million copies each in that year. No, 2008 was a marked year for EA because it was the year their new IP Spore was launched and downloaded illegally more than 1.7 million times in the last quarter, making it the most pirated game of all time according to Torrent Freak.

Shhhhh ;P

Perjoss5439d ago

would it have anything to do with the pirate version being released much earlier than the retail version, and people that fully intended to buy the game on release day just wanted to play it early.

It could also have to do with everyone getting tired of paying for expansions. It's so stupid. People buy all of the sims 2 expansions then they buy the sims 3 and have less and have to wait to pay for extra items. I'll pirate it and all of it's expansions in a few years, build some dream houses, and delete it.

man could you imagine if you couldn't pirate games
even if only half those numbers bought the game that is A$$ load of dollars right there

EA: God DAMMIT!!! *bangs iron fist on desk and shatters the desk*

Anyway, they deserve it for charging people to get extra stuff.

Vonsutton5439d ago

The sad fact is, if you make a popular and highly sought after title, the more likely it will be pirated. Arrrggghhh me hearties!

I'm not one of them... :D

I could have been... but in the end, i decided to buy it.

:)

ButterToast5439d ago (Edited 5439d ago )

I pirated it, and I'm glad i did. It didn't run well on my aging laptop, the game was boring as hell, and the retail version had that terrible DRM crap. Thank god I didn't waist my money on that POS.

most people who pirated the game never would have bought the game to begin with.

TheIneffableBob5439d ago

The Sims 3 has no DRM, unless you consider a disc check DRM. Try not to spread false information.

aaron58295439d ago

i did download via torrent...

I did play the sims 3 before the release date...

I dont know... i guess, sim games kinda relax me a little bit, and by the time the mods comes out, it will be fun.

:)

besides, as a sim fan, i wouldnt wanna miss the Riverview neighbourhood.

Luckily, my PC plays the sims 3 well.. everything on high and very high settings... except for draw distance.

and yeah, there are no DRM in the sims 3... just disc check.

What's the oldest game you currently have installed on your PC?

Maybe you've got a favorite game from the olden days you never get rid of. Maybe you're a scrupulous uninstaller and you don't have anything from before 2013 on your pristine PC. Maybe you've got something from the 1990s taking up several whole megabytes you completely forgot about.

annoyedgamer1880d ago (Edited 1880d ago )

Age of Empires. And I still play it.

MrDead1880d ago (Edited 1880d ago )

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

I did have Loom but I didn't like it.

I've been replaying a bunch of old adventure games, lately. I had been playing a bunch of text adventures, but those are uninstalled now. At the moment, the oldest thing I have installed is Sierra's Police Quest Collection. When I'm done with that, I'll be moving on to Space Quest, Quest for Glory, and finishing with the best: King's Quest.

ravinash1879d ago

Space quest, that brings back memories.
