UFC 2009 Undisputed Sells Over 1m Units In North America

Gaming Union writes "When UFC 2009: Undisputed came out last month, it received very favourable reviews from critics. Many commented on how realistic the game was, and what a great advert it was for the UFC.

Well, it seems as though fans have voted with their wallets as the game has managed to sell over 1m units in its first few weeks on sale in North America. This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering how well previous UFC games have performed."

I still need to get my copy :O

lord_of_balrogs5440d ago

Well UFC us huge in North America now and it hasn't had a yearly release like NHL, NBA, and Madden so that might contribute as gamers don't feel like they're playing the same thing over again. Good for UFC, all my friends bought this game and it's fun to play.

mephman5440d ago

Yea, definitely. Before playing the game I can safely say I didn't really care much about the UFC. However, now I'm actually interested in the real thing.

Gamer_Politics5440d ago (Edited 5440d ago )

THQ will milk the hell out of UFC....

mephman5440d ago

Based on this, yea. It's probably going to become like the WWE games.

kornbeaner5440d ago

I hope not. Things in the UFC don't change as rapid as they do in the WWE. So hopefully we'd get small updates to tighten the game a little more, I feel hit detection is a little off at times. and then from there make bi-annual sequels, that would be pretty coo.

360usetobegood5440d ago

Its getting there though.. 1 million isnt anything to brag about when its multi plat. Not to mention i bet a lot of copies were bought by non gaming UFC fighters that just wanted to check it out.

MouseEatsCat writes:

"Game development is a slow, sluggish process. But when a game is made, most of the time it’s made with love and care and a lot of effort. So it’s not nice to see good games go by almost unnoticed. I’ve decided to compile a list of the five best fairly recent underrated games that went unnoticed when released."

I did not/ do not understand why so many people liked blur i thought it was not very good as for the others i cant say anything. though i was hoping MAG would of been on the list was playing it last night nice to see there is still a community playing the game after so long and despite its lack of reception!

Kurt Russell4095d ago

I loved blur. It had loads to do on the single player, and a good online system. The courses were varied with locations a little different to most racers. Also to top it all off it was very pretty with laser beams and disco light streaks chasing after people... That and it allowed me to drive a rat look beetle :)

I hope that helps you to understand at least why some people may have liked it.

OOG4095d ago

agreed blur was awesome

EbeneezerGoode4095d ago

Agreed. Blur was awful. Truly a terrible game. If was nowhere near the developer's previous efforts on quality nor gameplay.

If anything BLUR was over-rated. Big Time. It was really messy looking, and totally non-fun to play.

Hicken4095d ago

I had a VERY different opinion of Blur. I thought it was an excellent game. Had lots of fun, and wouldn't mind a sequel later this gen or next.

FaSCoRP4095d ago

Blur was good. The point is it was hard, some people does not have the guts, patience or skill to keep up. It was a Bizarre game, you have to be skilled

EbeneezerGoode4095d ago

Really? So that's why I absolutely LOVED PGR3 is it? Blur was nowhere near the class of PGR3 and that is why it failed for me. The cars felt weird, the tracks looked cartoony, the over bright neon mess of pick ups were ill considered and immersion ruining. It was TOO arcade for it's own good.

FaSCoRP4093d ago

Well but Blur never tried to be a Racing Sim, it was like a Mario Kart with a nice graphic engine a more "not so kart" handling.

EbeneezerGoode4093d ago

well maybe it SHOULD have tried to be more, it's poor reception showed it didn't please many people but I'm happy if you got fun out of it. I believe they could have done a lot better based on their past games.
