DailyJoypad Review: Officers: World War II

DJP writes: "When it comes to strategy war-gaming on a PC consumers are spoilt for choice with the huge range of titles on offer. Everyone recognises the big brand names, like Command & Conquer for example, and often choose these first rather than go with a title that they have never heard of. Although to be fair, video games are not the only form of retail item to suffer in the same way. This rings true for the latest real-time strategy offering from Kalypso Media, Officers. Many will overlook the game in order to play the next big-brand RTS game, but in doing so will miss out on some of the biggest battles ever to grace the RTS genre. Alltern8: Officers: World War II Review

Alltern8 writes: "Medal of Honour may not have been the first World War II game, but since that title debuted for the original PlayStation in 1999 there's been a steady market for historical wargames that, if sales of Call of Duty 4 and Company of Heroes are anything to go by, isn't about to die face down in the mud anytime soon. It's a disheartening experience, hopping from one World War II game to the next and re-enacting the same few dozen battles no matter which game you play."

AATG: Officers: World War II Review

AATG writes: "I have to admit I do have a bit of a soft spot for RTS games which has existed ever since I discovered both Red Alert 2 and Starcraft at around the same time many years ago. At the time, commanding armies in large scale battles was so exciting, and while I've never been particularly brilliant at this genre, I'll quite happily sit and spend hours trying to lead my men to victory. One thing I've learnt while playing these games is while games may only sometimes last 20 minutes, you often need patience for your plans to pay off."
