Sonic 3 & Knuckles is peak 2D Sonic for me. Probably my most played Genesis game.

Chocoburger90d ago

No, not a divisive game. The visuals, levels, music, controls were all great. Having to buy Sonic & Knuckles wasn't an issue at all, just more awesome gaming made available to me at the time. I lived through that era, and I don't remember anyone complaining that they had to buy another cartridge just to get the complete game, if you enjoyed Sonic games on the Genesis, you were happy to get another one back then.

The only issue with Sonic 3 is that stupid freakin' horrible "BARREL OF DOOM!" all because Sonic Team didn't properly communicate to the player what to do.

This! This! THIS!!!

The only divisive thing about Sonic 3 was that freaking barrel.

I had 1 & 2, I played 3 at someone else's house. When I heard about S3 & Knuckles I assumed it was the same game with just Knuckles added in and thought it was stupid, until I found out a while later it was much more. I wonder how much more they could've put onto the game carts, I know there were cut levels in some of the games.

is it divisive?

i think its the best 2d sonic.

Everyone is focused on open world unfortunately 😒 2000s had some of the best games in general. Just enough depth that you don't have to sign your life away to complete a game.

isarai164d ago

Seriously, I miss classic character action hack n slash games. Now everything is either huge open world gruel or a souls-like, often both.

Dandalandan117164d ago

Ikr? I would love a new Tenchu game.
It doesn't need to be a big budget with epic scope or other BS. Just a fun game like before with updated graphics and some quality of life improvements.

isarai164d ago

I'm hoping the success of armored core they'll be more inclined to revisit Tenchu as it really showed that a smaller scope game with a tight refined experience can be a success as well as the huge complex open RPG affairs. Still bums me out that Sekiro started as a new Tenchu, but they changed their mind halfway through development.

Relientk77164d ago

Man what I'd give for a new Tenchu game

Furesis164d ago

you almost did get one but instead u got Sekiro (Great game)
maybe next time

jznrpg164d ago

Sekiro is nice consolation for sure. But still would like Tenchu

*ARAGAMI 1 and 2 for a current fix

**Wrath of Heaven is probably the greatest ninja/stealth game ever.

Shinobi was okay. Your sword drained your health. So you had to constantly keep moving. You couldn't take your time to even explore or even breath. Nightshade rectified this.

Top 20 Soundtracks From the 16-Bit Era

In the 16-bit era, game devs and composers could finally change the type of tones used in the music, simulating a wider array of instruments and creating a whole lot of great soundtracks in the process.

It wasn’t easy picking out the best of the best because there were so many great ones. Even middle-of-the-road soundtracks seemed to deserve a bump if the game was just that damn good, and so many from that era are that damn good!

Here's the Ghetto Gamer list of top 20 soundtracks from the 16-bit era.
