After spending the better part of a week describing bits of what makes Ace Combat 6 such an exciting prospect, Games Radar feels it's time to share their initial impressions of the almost-complete version Namco provided. This build was about 60% done and needed a little tweaking in the sound and framerate departments, but Game Radar is confident the Ace team will have these issues tucked away before the game ships.
Namco was founded in 1955 and merged with Bandai in 2005. Between that long period, they have produced some of the most memorable franchises in gaming.
Namco Bandai has dominated the air combat genre with "Ace Combat" for years without much competition, but Ubisoft is taking the series head on with the Tom Clancy-branded "HAWX" in March. A Ubisoft developer told MTV Multiplayer one of the big differences between the two games is the element of realism brought to "HAWX."
IGN reports, "Leading video games developer and publisher Namco Bandai Games America Inc. announced today that the Ace Combat series has surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide, and that Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system has surpassed one million units sold in North America. Fueled by consistently entertaining and accessible gameplay as well as cutting-edge graphics, the series has remained a critical and commercial smash hit since its introduction in 1995."
Is this game exclusive to xbox360?
Wats do good about ace combat....airplane games never been fun..unless u can get out and shoot like Bf..or even warhawk
I havent played an ace combat game yet, but it looks cool. I know this is a little off topic, but this came to mind when i saw this story. I wish they made another descent freespace game for the 360 and PS3. That would have some cool online play.
This will be the sh**.. ACE was very good on the PS2--I can't wait to see it and play it (online!!!) on the 360.. Too many awesome games, not enough hours in the day... and more to come (Bioshock, Forza, Gears maps, Kane)... gCM
