Ghostbusters May Arrive On Non-Sony Formats In October

Following the snatch of European publishing rights by Sony, European copies of the game on none-Sony formats have consequently been delayed into an unknown release period. The PS3 and PS2 versions of the game are due to arrive on the 19th June. Retail sources are now suggesting the game has a date on other formats including Xbox 360, Wii and PC, which will be 30th October. Quite a long wait indeed.

Sure we might see the ocasional MGS4 but in the end, most if not all 3rd party games will go multiplatform eventually.

Harri4444 ps35455d ago

sure a few muti plats will happen to exclusive franchises, but as long as Sony and Microsoft have sacks of money there will always be exclusives.

Seferoth755455d ago

glad this article is up. I gotta go remove my preorder for this game and buy something worth owning. You wanna focus on the console with the worst game sales first go right ahead. I know there are plenty of other games worth the money and time i can buy isntead.

TheBand1t5455d ago

Dude, really? The GameCube and Xbox were dominated by the PS2 last gen and they got decent 3rd party support.
Not that I'd blame you for moving your preorder.

wow. You are an angry boy, huh?

Your avatar fits you perfectly.

"got decent 3rd party support."

LOL.. Barely 3rd party support. For every 3 PS2 3rd party games that were released 1 came to Xbox.

TheBand1t5454d ago

And of those 3 3rd party games, 2 were guaranteed shovelware. What's your point, crab? :P

Sony owns the rights to the Ghostbuster franchise and has an Anniversary edition of their movies coming out the same day the games were all supposed to release.

The _ONLY_ reason that Sony is making sure to keep the release dates on their consoles the same as those outside of Europe is because they want the full marketing plan.

The blame for slipping up on the other release dates falls to Atari and Namco. Atari is selling the right to distribute their games to Namco in Europe and in doing so The Ghostbusters game got stuck in the middle and was dropped by Atari early to save money and will be picked up by Namco late with them now having to go through all of the red tape to get it shipped, rated, advertised, and all the other crud you have to go through to get the game on the shelves for the other platforms.

This has nothing to do with selling out to Sony but all about Sony having to spend more money than they should have to in order to keep another company's game from going to market late.

If you somehow think Sony should also pay to keep their competitor's products from releasing late, you might want to ask why Microsoft and Nintendo didn't step up to the plate to do it on their own, not why Sony won't give money to its competitors.

By the way, all versions of the game are complete. They won't be spending time polishing up a 360 version or anything like that. It's all about getting the games on the shelves, and it's going to take however long it takes Namco and Atari to work things out to happen.

The 360 version gets more polish time, and will be the superior version.

Isn't that what the Sony fanboys always say? ;)

I just find it sad...or maybe hilarious...that Sony is banking so much on a 3rd party title, while leaving their "AAA exclusives" hanging out twisting in the wind, with no marketing. Very strange.

Fighting fire with fire, eh?

Troll-Killer5455d ago

Something like that, yeah. :D

very good point

bubbles

that is why people should stop making up stupid excuses. They always come back to hunt u.

but do not worry the SDF will come up with other more creative excuses. they are the experts of spin (perhaps they work for fox news)

peace

deshon095455d ago

good optimism but not likely

dogmeat eater5455d ago (Edited 5455d ago )

It was distributed by columbia pictures which is owned by sony. I'm guessing sony didn't pay a dime to get this exclusive in Europe.
Edit: Disagree? Sony does own the Ghostbusters franchise.

Terminal Reality President Mark Randall Quote. . . " We’re running the same game for both platforms but if we made a PS3-only game, for example, you could double the amount of objects on screen that you’re seeing. The PlayStation 3 has seven processors and the 360 only has three, so seven versus three means you can do a lot more on the PS3. We’re keeping the game the same over both platforms so we don’t want to take out any features."

so much for 360 being more polished

Pennywise5455d ago

Troll killer - The game is done and will be printing for the 360 in NA. There is no more further tweaking that is going to be done.

I know you are just "trying" to troll, but you need help doing so.

Real question is: will the USA 360 version be regionfree? I'll just import it then!

infamous_275454d ago

Better save up your pennies, you're gonna need them when you head out on June 19th to buy a brand new Playstation 3. Xbox 360's are not regionfree :)

Review - Ghostbuster The Video Game Remastered (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Todd Eggleston: "Ghostbusters The Video Game is nostalgia done right, and puts you right back in 1984. It isn’t a masterpiece of a game, and neither was the movie, but it reminds us again that it is ok for entertainment to just be entertaining. It is a game that deserves to be remastered and remembered. And 35 years later, it also serves to remind us that a remaster doesn’t always need to be Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott. Sometimes, Ray Parker Jr. is exactly who you need to call."
