The Road to October: Looking Beyond E3 2009

On June 1st, Turn 10's game director Dan Greenawalt shared a stage with the likes of Steven Spielberg and the Beatles to officially announce our next big thing on Xbox 360: Forza Motorsport 3. Those 5 short minutes Dan spent in the spotlight to talk briefly about Forza 3 were made possible through the coordination and mobilization of entire teams at both Turn 10 and Xbox 360.

I think forza has a great franchise, but my best memories were with GT...driving my VR4 listening to "the Cardigans" or Rob Zombie...GT 1 and 2 were the best in my opinion...

gamesmaster5457d ago (Edited 5457d ago )

polyphony digital are all about perfection, i'd expect no less from them.

the whole passge...

"Perhaps the most surprising to me was when a couple developers from Gran Turismo makers Polyphony Digital came by to personally get hands-on with Forza 3, all the while taking careful notes, examining our UI system, shooting photos, and directly asking us some pretty interesting questions. The reason I say I was personally surprised was because PD aren’t generally known as a studio to acknowledge that there are racing games that exist beyond their own. Which could explain why the GT franchise has been so stagnant in the racing genre since GT3. So it seems competition is good for the consumer after all. I know for a fact that Turn 10 will never stop pushing racing games to the next level."

stagnant = characterized by lack of development, advancement, or progressive movement.

turn 10 are very up themselves lately...

OmarJA5457d ago

Looks like Polyphony Digital got nothing to worry about.

sonarus5457d ago

There is competition between the two. Forza already took a long look at GT5P to make sure they surpass it with their next game. If they allow polyphony expect to also look to check in on the competition

"I know for a fact that Turn 10 will never stop pushing racing games to the next level."

If that isn't ego than I don't know what is.

Information Minister5457d ago (Edited 5457d ago )

Do keep in mind that this comes straight from Turn 10, and they are far from being the most trustworthy source.

But they do seem to be taking lessons from Dennis Dyack.

Strikepackage Bravo5457d ago

Turn 10 could probably teach them a few things. Or perhaps the reason they are taking so long to launch GT is because they have no clue WTF to do next, this would also explain why the series has stayed stagnant.

Overall this is not unusual, from Uncharted to MGS4 we have seen nothing but PS3 games borrowing the newest innovations in game play from 360 exclusives.

Gears, Halo, Forza have all done things not before done in their genre, Sony would be foolish not to copy and improve upon those ideas.

haha i kid, i kid.. don't get angry fanboys!

-lol, its true because the PD dev is on record saying something about he didnt know anything about Forza/Turn10. Also he didn't say they were "spying" he just described their interest, but his comment about GT being stangnant imo is somewhat correct since GT3 but it would be alot better to just note their interest as a compliment and shut up, still it doesn't help when people say he said things that he didn't.

What're you smoking dude? Uncharted copied Kill.switch, if anything. Unless you think ND could make a game on a new system with a engine they had to build from scratch a year after Gears. It was probably in development for at least a year BEHIND Gears.

MGS4 did not take any ideas from the 360. It only made older ideas from the series more accessible.

Lemons5457d ago

What a total ignorant.

Microsoft this generation have been the biggest plagurists of any of the big three. They've whipped out their cheque book and bought their way into numerous exclusive deals.

I suppose its easy to trash talk games without obviously having the faintest clue as to what was the inspiration or influence in their development. I suppose the games you cite as 'innovative', didn't borrow from elsewhere ? What was your list again, 'Gears, Halo and Forza' ? How long have you been gaming, a couple of years ? Pull your head out of the sand, or your arse or wherever you may have it currently parked and apply a bit of thought next time you reply.

Gears, Halo, Forza, innovation ? LOL, genius.

@strke

The Ganja u r using is in bad state dud. MGS4 copying? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL in any case Hideo K is copying himself. I'm wondering from which game MGS4 is borrowing. Ey, strike please, answer that.

UC is a gameplay blend. I dont now if ND borrowed something from Gears, but in any case it did perfect it, while putting together a lot of different gameplay elements.

From who is borrowing R&C? VC?

Besides dud, to borrow a good idea, complement it and make it better is a quite common practice.

So they take an interest in your game, and you trash talk their franchise for it. Stay classy!

Mr_Potato_5457d ago

It clearly show they're dumbasses. Forza will be poor man's GT forever, stop dreaming Turn 10, GT sold >50 million games and you're nothing.

gears225457d ago (Edited 5457d ago )

Turn Ten seems scared and insecure to write such a stupid article.I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for you guys.

...Btw,Miyamoto was "Spying" on the PSP GO!,must BE something.

EDIT: Oh it's Che,nothing to see here, this was the same guy who bashed GT and made some pretty good lies about it,this could also be one ;) Way to go Che!

Omega45457d ago

What Makes E3 So Special?

E3 is the greatest annual event in the gaming calendar; it’s like Christmas and Easter rolled into one for anyone who enjoys video games.

The biggest industry names, both developers and publishers, take to the Los Angeles Convention Centre stage to showcase the awesome things they have in store for gamers across the globe. Fans flood the convention floors to get their hands on some of the exciting games releasing in the not too distant future… unless they’re from Ubisoft (when is The Division actually coming out?).

But what exactly makes this annual trade fair so special?
