Reggie announces Metroid Wii by Team Ninja coming in 2010

VG247: Reggie has just announced a new Metroid game that is coming in 2010.

Gamertags5449d ago

Very Bad Start...
The new Mario game really looks disappointing and Wii Fit Plus is just an extension to the existing. A quick sequel in other words. The motion plus is to fix the controller because it never has worked right.

I will update as it goes!

Update: After seeing the next step in gaming (MS Motion), watching the Nintendo Show is really poor. Having to purchase an addon to make the controller more accurate is ridiculous.

Update 3: DS titles looking fairly poor as well. So far, no core games. Primarily focusing on family games and etc.

Interactive novel for DS....enough said! Looks very poor.

Instead of using a controller, they need to focus on using your entire body.

Wii Resort isn't looking too hot either. Maybe for the younger it may be interesting but to core gamers, there is not much here. A collection of mini games that have been seen elsewhere.

Update 4: Final Fantasy is looking poor but Kingdom Hearts looks promising. Of course, wait and see.

Update 5: What blows my mind is that this is the best Nintendo has come to show us. This is what they thought was going to amaze us.

Very poor!

Update 6: A woman stated she plays with herself and so far, this is the only positive aspect to the Nintendo show.

Nintendo is focusing on the DS and not the Wii. Software is looking very limited for the Wii. No one is clapping. No response from the crowd so far. DS games are looking poor and extremely dated.

Update 7: The Nintendo show should be wrapping up soon. By far, just as terrible as last year. This is seriously, terrible!

The Global President is now on stage speaking of 'gaymers in all of us.' Nintendo needs to have someone on stages that gamers can relate too.

The woman is terrible and only fits in with older women.

Update 8: A new addon has been announce. A sensor that rates heart rate and etc. Yet another addon and nothing that really translates into games. Very poor design. Large. Wired.

Nintendo says that gaming may help players sleep and I believe Nintendo is doing a great job of putting everyone to sleep now. No one is clapping.

Update 9: A new Mario title is announced and this time is looks good. A hell of a lot better than the first one, which should be on the ds. This title looks to be very similar to Galaxy and not completely original. Sad to see that they haven't gone in newer direction.

Update 10: The show is wrapping up and honestly, I think that is a very good move for Nintendo. The show has been poor on every front. Just as last year, the showing was poor and nothing very good has been announced.

Another announcement is coming. Three titles are coming before year end.

Conduit: Nothing new and poorly reviewed.

Resident Evil Dark Side (back side): Another title that is known to be in the pipes. Nothing new here.

EA has Dead Space for the Wii: The game looks to have the atmosphere but clearly the graphics look terrible. Seriously bad. Control looks very rough. Not getting a good response from the crowd for a good reason.

Update 11: Nintendo has a new IP coming. Nintendo has teamed with team ninja to bring a new Metroid game. More of a side scrolling fighter with 3d elements. Looks rather poor. Game gets a few claps. More than anything else Nintendo has shown.

Update: 12 Reggie is speaking again and will hopefully stop the bleeding and will end the show. Clearly, MS has has the show of a life time. Nintendo looks like a business that is trying to sell addons and sequel extension games. A terrible game for sure.

KillaManiac5449d ago

I despise the Wii, but that Metroid looked very very cool.

forum_crawler5449d ago

Are you like copying and pasting in every Nintendo announcements? how sad...

KillaManiac5449d ago

He thinks N4G is his new Twitter blog site or something I guess...lol

INehalemEXI5449d ago

Metroid Gaiden is pretty sick.

Monteblanco5449d ago

@Gamertags: It seems you don't like videogames. Perhaps you should try another hobby.

His hobby is copying and pasting

Nintendo just buried itself for 2009 if you ask me. Sony will have FF13 this holiday season in Japan, so they can kiss first place goodbye in that sales market.

That's not to say Nintendo will see a slow in sales from the western world and from more and more casuals. I myself now am looking at this year to get either a DSi or a PSPGO, and with what games I can get at + the features they hold will determine it. With Kingdom Hearts, Golden Sun, and Zelda it looks like a triple threat to please me as a consumer without a doubt.

Nintendo did please me with this Metroid game, because it does look fun to play without a question. I'm not that excited for Mario Galaxy 2, because it's not what I expect when a new 3D mario gets announced. I expect a complete innovation from the last with a new twist. I was really hoping for a new 3D Zelda announced, because that's why I bought my Wii in the first place was Twilight Princess.

The Wii games are harder to get excited for this year with what 360 and Sony has for my tastes---which is not casual. I am liking where the DSi is headed game wise, and it does look like that will be Nintendo's bigger money maker hardware wise this year over the Wii itself.

Better than last year...

Welcome home tecmo!

Now there are some crazy things that many of you may not see happening right now... many of nintendo 1st and 2nd parties still have not player their cards. Motion+ showed off stuff most 3rd parties did not even try out, the bow is really sick imagine that in it's own action game!

Didnt see this coming lol

qface645449d ago

i agree i didn't see it coming at all

but honestly the thing that surprised me the most wasn't the game but the fact that its being made by team ninja
O_O

PLAYSTATIONGENRATION5449d ago (Edited 5449d ago )

they might just steal the show with this one game yeah u saw the sarcasm...but it does look good though....I already know this Sony e3

All Time Greatness5449d ago

lol don't worry man they didn't catch your obvious sarcasm.

zoneofenders5449d ago

Metroid Gaiden got my interest
other than that? terrible just terrible!!

Seferoth755448d ago

Yeah because copying Nintendo is so original... you poor Sony fanboys must be really upset. you get nothing except what other console had for 2 years now.. Poor kid.. Dont worry, just keep using it a a dust collecting paper weight like most PS3 owners do.. I mean its not like you have anything to play on it...

BTW I love the Sony press conference where they copy Madden, Zelda, mario and so many other Wii titles yet act like its the first time the tech has ever been seen. Most of us know better but Sony knows its audience. 12 year olds without a clue so they can get away with lies.

TheColbertinator5449d ago

Possible game of the year candidate right here for 2010

Montreafart5449d ago

I was wowed by the action but graphics are subpar.

Forrest Gump5449d ago

Hopefully Team Ninja does an excellent job with the series, especially given the AAA job Retro did with the franchise.

raztad5449d ago

Well, some overdue love for Ninty core fans.

Talking about Team Ninja. There is a trailer of Sigma 2 in gametrailer, but I haven't seen any news posted here. It looks beautiful. I'm officially pumped up for that game.

Metroid For NES Could Be Inducted Into The Video Game Hall Of Fame

Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

OtterX49d ago

There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.

I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.

ApocalypseShadow48d ago (Edited 48d ago )

Agreed. When I got my NES back then, I of course had Super Mario Bros. But I also got Double Dribble, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Rad Racer, Zelda and Metroid. Loved playing all of them over and over. But Metroid was so deep and the music was so other worldly, that that game has stuck with me to this day decades later.

Sure other awesome games came along like Contra, Castlevania, Mega Man, etc. But Metroid really hit that sci-fi fix. And the twist of finding out who was in the suit was one of those great moments in gaming history talking with other friends in the neighborhood that had the console that rushed to the end to find out for themselves.

Definitely deserves hall of fame like many other picks. Should have been inducted a long time ago.

Miraak82 47d ago

If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .

OtterX47d ago

Yea, I agree that Super Metroid REALLY raised the bar on atmosphere and exploration, still in my Top 10 or 20 games of all time. The original Metroid did set a good framework, but Super Metroid perfected it in its first sequel. Since it's the only one up for vote, I'd still vote for the original Metroid bc it did establish a very good concept of gaming in a more primitive gaming era. But, you're absolutely right.

Chocoburger47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.

If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.

bunt-custardly474d ago

Nioh games definitely up there at the top alongside Ninja Gaiden BLK.

LoveSpuds473d ago

There is a decent fan base for the Nioh games, but still think they are criminally overlooked and under appreciated.

I just bought the PS5 collection to replay them again with all their DLC, a sweet collection for my games shelf for sure.

deleted473d ago

Yea, those gardens haven't been plowed in over 10 years now though. Imagine if they cultivated it, let it grow again.

Starman69473d ago

Amazing what ya can do with a samurai sword lol 🤣

tehpees3474d ago

The honourable mention though.

TheSenorCheese474d ago

originally it wasn't going to be included because of their take on Samus' character. But the gameplay's actually not bad.

Vits473d ago

Honestly, I don't know if we can even blame them for that take. Nintendo's Sakamoto was credited as the writer and from what we learned later with the Retro Studios interviews for the Prime series, Nintendo apparently never saw Samus as this stoic badass that most of the west imagined her as. Going as far as describing her as "motherly".

shinoff2183474d ago

Ninja Gaiden was dope but I don't really care for alot of their games.

Metroid Maker Should Be Next to Get a Super Mario Maker Treatment

Super Mario Maker has been a great series for Nintendo, but it is time to move on. How about a Metroid Maker? That would be interesting! Check out Jason Capo’s thoughts for more.

I hope Nintendo brings back real dungeons in BOTW 2!

deleted636d ago

Metroid certainly would be cool, but 100% Zelda dungeon maker should be the priority! It makes the most sense!

Jeriphro636d ago

The only issue with Zelda, for me, is that it won't have the same freedom of styles that Mario Marker has. Zelda 1, LttP, and the Game Boy ones could all possibly work, but Zelda also has a lot of 3D games. I guess if you limited the styles to Original Zelda, LttP, Minish Cap, and Link's Awakening, that could work. That's four different styles for a dungeon maker, but I think a Metroid Maker is closer to Mario and would probably be easier to make.

deleted636d ago

@Jeriphro Mario Maker drew mostly from its 2D roots, so I take no issue with a 2D only Zelda Maker. However, they also translated Mario 3D World elements into the 2D space, so I wouldn't mind that they do something similar with overhead Zelda games using more modern 3D elements too. A Link to the Past Remake shows how nice 3D elements can be implemented into the standard overhead Zelda view.

2D Zeldas were the games I grew up on anyways, A Link to the Past being one of my favorite games of all times! They halfway attempted a creator within the Links Awakening remake, but I'd like to see a fully realized creator. Of course though, Super Metroid was also once of my favorite games of all times so I'm dying to see a Metroid maker too. ;)

DethWish636d ago

Metroid Maker is a sweet idea

Knightofelemia636d ago

I'd go either for Metroid Maker a Zelda Maker would also be great even a Mario Kart Maker as well.
