I predict a metascore of 95+, 2 million copies sold on its first week, and the beginning of a new classic franchise.

Looks very vibrant and colorful... last game i played that looked that vibrant and colorful was Uncharted, and we all know how great that game was...

of course graphics dont always equal great gameplay, BUT this does look like a lot of fun, good story line too!

It's a good game but I was hoping for something more. And you can tell they lowered the graphics to get it running on the 360. That's a shame. I was hoping to get a gorgeous looking game for PC.

Where are the awesome graphics the 360 owners were bragging about? This could have lunched with the Xbox 360. If I do get this game, it'll definitely be for the PC because I thought the graphics would be awesome but the 360 version definitely disappoints.

Microsoft E3 to be honest was pretty soft and the Biggest announcement was Metal Gear Raiden? A multiplayer game? Lol. Ok.

Can't wait for Sony's presentation because thanks to Microsoft my jaw still hasn't dropped.

I want to see how Really Duh spins the dampened down graphics.

Without a doubt one of the greatest games of 2010, but as far as surprises go... nothing new that i didn't know already before the conference.

...The only surprise being the amount of focus put into the Natal project, undoubtatelly a better version of Eyetoy... (muuch better version) ... but i gotta ask, when will we see it?

I own all 3 consoles, and in terms of Alan's competition it's Heavy Rain on PS3. I can safely say this looks more interesting to PLAY than Heavy Rain which they are trying to tip toe around is nothing but quick time events.

It's a shame it's still so far away, but at least it will be something to look forward to. :)

My favorite GAME announced by Microsoft was Splinter Cell Conviction. It looked like it would be a BLAST to play. Followed by Metal Gear Rising of course.

Projet Natal though blew me away. :)

I didn't expect Crackdown 2 and L4D 2. Froza and Alan wake was a given. MGSR was a bit of a surprise but i kinda knew that Kojima would develop a game for the x360 fanbase.

Alan Wake graphics are OK. They looked very good 3 years ago but now it dosen't wow me that much anymore. I will dust off my PC for this game and Crysis 2.

Still, my 360 is going to be pretty dusty by that time. I thought E3 was supposed to be the event where Microsoft came out with all the games for 2009. For me I'll probably buy the Halo expansion but that will be a year from the last 360 game I bought - Gears 2.

Man I miss 2007. That was a good time to be a 360 gamer.

Microsoft's E3 showing was quite good this year. They showed some good stuff, had some nice announcements and they're motion sensing was pretty damn impressive. Wouldn't this make u look even more forward to Sony's conferrence because they HAVE to top this with all the hype going on lately? It's a win / win for both sides. Microsoft gets the stuff, Sony gets the stuff.

Which means nothing. You do not need a 360 to play the game. The game looks like it will be good although I didn't care for the constant slow motion effects. I think it didn't really fit well and could slow the tension down a bit. Glad it seems to be a mature survival horror game though and look forward to some PC screens and game play videos.

Looking at what was announced, this is the only one I would consider is AAA, looking at its production values. The environmental lighting is sparse but very good. The atmosphere is very scary and great! The sound design is very good with the creaking trees and rustling. There is some nice lightplay, but unfortunately that does not apply for what I would consider is the most important light... your flashlight. The flashlight beam casts no shadows. Looking at the first attacks from the shadow guys with the axes and picks, when Alan places the flashlight on them, they do not cast shadows behind or below them. However, the flares do, so maybe its just unimplemented at the moment. Either way, this is definitely a worthy title, and the only one it seems to me worth a buy title for the 360 this year.

Edit: I mean next year. And happily i can get this for PC.... so i guess, I'll get to enjoy it as well.

@below: Conviction looks pretty good too, though i'll reserve judgement on that one until I see more footage.

I know I love the whole narrating while gameplay thing. The creepiness was there to. But I just don't get when people are saying "best looking game ever and only on xbox 360" Some of it was impressive but a lot of it was also grainy. The grainy was probably because it was cam footage.
Either way after watching this trailer and the gameplay, I will be a proud 360 owner when I secure the needed funds first.

anyway, can't wait for this game (story driven games are so few and far between, and the latest Silent Hill was a HUGE let down). it's just a shame that it's not releasing this year. i was hoping i could have an Alan Wake/Heavy Rain story based gaming combo this fall/winter.

graphically, it looks decent, but games like Heavy Rain and Uncharted 2 have really set a visual bar that i haven't seen met yet.

in the end, i really hope the story and gameplay are as intriguing as it looks now.

i think my only real issue in general is does practically EVERY major 360 exclusive release have to involve shooting? seriously.

Crackdown, Lost Planet, Gears of War (both of them, obviously), Halo, even the damn RPGs (Mass Effect), have to revolve around shooting. Alan Wake, which appears to be a story driven adventure game even has shooting.

if there is one thing i commend about PS3 exclusives (besides the visuals), is that each of the major exclusives tend to feel different from one another gameplay wise. not just another shooter with a new character skin on it.

i'd like to see more diversity of gameplay from Microsoft's exclusives in the future.
