PSU: Sacred 2: Fallen Angel Review

Playstation Universe Writes:
For a genre that is generally more suited to a keyboard and mouse, action role-playing game developers tend to shy away from trying to map dozens of commands to a controller. Inevitably, when developers do take that plunge, it means that they have to amend their game significantly to simplify it for consoles. Evidently, that's been too much hard work for most developers to bother with at this stage of the PS3's life cycle. It was never going to be an easy task for Ascaron to port Sacred 2: Fallen Angel from PC to consoles, but at least the Germany-based developer has decided to do something about that gap in the market. Though it isn't going to win any words for innovation, Ascaron's Diablo-style hack 'n slash action RPG is a very decent effort, and should satisfy the needs of those gamers waiting patiently for the day that Diablo 3 is announced for PS3, if indeed that momentous day ever comes.

I wanted to buy this, but financial turmoil has kept me away from it and resulting in just buying Cross-Edge.

Anyway heard this game had quite a few glitches and bugs in which someone told me that during a teleport you may wind up in a place where you either A. Can't move, or B. Die right off the bat. For what it is Sacred2 looks like a pretty fun game; yet I think I'll still hold off on now, not because of finances but I'll just get the game when the bugs have been ironed out.

Never had these probelms one in the countless hours I've put into the ps3 version. Could be the 360 version anyone know?

Sangria5482d ago

I'm still wondering if i should pick the PS3 or the 360 version. By now, i've preorder both collector edition and hope to see something that would definitely incite me to buy a version over another.

off Amazon.com for $49.99 with free shipping. Played it a bit yesterday. Seems to be a pretty solid game. Can't wait to try out the multiplayer.

Top 5 Action RPGs of this Generation

The Koalition writes: "To be clear, this list is in regards to isometric-styled hack-and-slash action RPGs. If you've ever played a Diablo game or anything like that, then you have a pretty good idea. There are lots of games and franchises in this genre, but it also seems to be one of the most under-represented each and every gaming generation. Releases are few and far between, but each successive title seems to always garner praise and success. One of the most iconic franchises in all of gaming - Diablo - basically started the entire subgenre and it's still going strong to this day. With Diablo III finally set to release on consoles soon, I thought this was a good time to take a look back at all of the best the action RPG genre has to offer this generation."

Definitely looking forward to Diablo III on consoles. Very anxious to see what has been added and taken away from the PC version.

ATi_Elite3914d ago

I enjoyed Torchlight 2 and Path of Exile should be on the list.

POE is very hard!

FortKnight3915d ago

Doesn't fit the criteria of the article.

pandehz3915d ago

Dark Souls is not in the ARPG genre.

It has action of course but ARPG is something else.

Irishguy953915d ago

Do explain sir...i've been calling them all Action RPGs up until now.

An RPG with real time combat...is what I have been calling ARPGS.

cocadaking3915d ago (Edited 3915d ago )

@Irishguy95 For PC gamers, ARPGs are only Diablo clones.

FortKnight3915d ago

Good article. A bit sparse, it would have been nice to hear a bit more detail about each game instead of a short, basic description.
But good. I enjoyed the read.

jaggernaut253915d ago

Yeah more detail would have been better, maybe some information about *really* makes them different besides the setting and whatnot. It's tough to get too detailed and keep the list relatively brief, though.

Thanks for reading!

pandehz3915d ago

Author is it in that order?

If so I would pick Diablo 1,2,3 as first three. Everything else comes after.

jaggernaut253915d ago

This article was focused on only this generation of consoles as a year-range, so Diablo I & II were excluded :)

Sacred 2 Gigagamers Review

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is made by an UK-based gaming company “Ascaron.” It Is a prequel to Sacred which sets about 2000 years before the events of Sacred, the prequel has a lot more than Sacred, but does that mean Sacred 2 can top off the Diablo series or It will just stay to the “Diablo Clone” status?

Five great alternatives to Diablo III this generation

Digitally Downloaded writes: "So you might be playing Diablo III. Or you might be seeing the number 37 in your nightmares right now. But either way it’s hard to deny there’s a thrill to the hack-and-slash lootfests that the original Diablo made so popular, and has been imitated so many times since.

But perhaps you have an old PC, or you stick to playing games on consoles. Well, never fear, you can still be looting along with everyone else. "

This guy is screwed in the head, the best dark ARPG/hack n slash/dungeon crawler atm is Path of Exile and the only game that looks good enough to compete with it is Grim Dawn but that is not even in close beta yet, the games those guy suggest suck big time some of them look really horrible like they r from the 90's, article fail beyond measure.
